why did he want this fight?
Cause he likes to fight the best out there and this is the BEST STEP UP fight he could have un like other fighter who move up in weight and fight someone whos been there for 1 fight at that weight... *cough!! PBF *cough!!
Or other fighters who are after $$$$ and $$$$ only and think that by taking the easy route and fighting mediocre fighters to set up what was suppose to be a MEGA fight is the best thing and in the end they get bit right in the ass.... And are left chasing some tale in a N.Y. club only to be dragged your azz out of the club by the wifey!! need I say more...
I don't know why he took this fight. All the Puerto Ricans are agains it. I am not Puerto Rican so this does not affect me all that much. I am a Cotto fan and I can live with a win, lose or a draw. I am just glad he is moving up to welter where there is more action. I don't know why Ricky Hatton moved back down. The fight I wanted to see was Ricky vs Miguel and I think I am not alone when I say that. Another fight I am looking forward to is Cotto vs Margarito and I hope Arum makes it happen. I am still going to root for Cotto and I have a funny feeling we will not see a wreckless Miguel Cotto of late.
its a bad buisness maneuver tho, most people dont know torres and a loss to him on paper looks bad to them, i think he is gonna loose pretty bad, but he will still be the man for dominating magalini :DQuote:

These are fighters not little beauty queens. If you call yourself a fighter than fight tough opposition. I respect any fighter more if he takes a tough fight. Not like that puzzy PBF.Quote:

I respect him for taking this fight. Its going to be a great fight and a real 50-50.Quote:

Ive heard though that if castillo and hatton both win on Jan 20th they will get it on in June with the winner of that one moving up to fight cotto (should cotto also still be undefeated) ;)
I give Cotto the edge in this one going into the fight i say about 60-40 towards Cotto. But i do rate Quintana and hats off to Cotto for taking another risky fight.
CC. I'm totally co-signing on Cotto getting beat. He made a big mistake, I think at 147 Cotto is average. Quintana WILL expose Cotto for the world.Quote:

It's a tough fight and don't just focus on the ramifications of a loss to Quintana.
Miguel Cotto, unlike many superstars in the sport is taking a CHALLENGE and I think that is what the sport needs the most
I love it when fighters take risks like this. Cotto may lose but I think he has a good chance, I respect him for taking the fight. Hopefully he wont get slated like Hatton did just because it was not a convincing win. At least Cotto has the balls to fight a natural welter.
Props to Cotto for taking this risky fight. Although I after watching Quintana dismantal Julio, I got to go with him for this one.
Man, I wish I had showtime for this fight.
Yo man, why make a random quote like "All Puerto Ricans are against it?" That's not true at all. We are very excited because this does not happen very often in boxing. Mexicans usually fight each other all the time, but not Ricans. This is historical in a sense, even though Cotto and Quintana haven't reached greatness yet. If you read the Puerto Rican papers on a daily basis, you will know that Ricans are HYPED about this. So don't post things you know nothing about!Quote:

If you go to the Cotto forum, you will read how many do not want this fight to happen. I said the same thing you just said. I told them why be torn? Mexicans get down all the time and we try not to trip out about it. I am glad to hear that the Boriquas are excited about this fight. I got tired of hearing the Boriquas on the Cotto forum cry about it and that is one of the reasons I stopped going there.Quote:

You all are hard to please. Cotto takes a hard fight. If he wins his judgement is questioned. If he takes easy fights you all would ride him like you do PBF. I just want quality fights.
If we get quality fights everyone wins, because there will be rematches. just think of Castillo/Corralles. The first fight was great and both fighters were admired alot regardless of the outcome.
Margarito could have been an easier fight with a bigger name for Cotto.Quote:

And yet Mayweather would be such a great choice of opponents for him... Margarito would have a much better chance to beat/upset Cotto, and it would still be a great payday.. THat's definetly a fight that should happen at 147 if they each win on saturday.Quote:

Would you risk your title to fight an unknown at 147 and a decent sum of money when you could move up the pound for pound rankings and become the guy to dethrone Boxing's new Golden Boy? And make hella millions of dollars
I like the little I seen from Quintana. I think he's a good fighter. But he ain't beating Cotto. People are basing to much on Quintana's win over Julio. It was a good win, but it's obvious that Julio was a little overrated. And Cotto is not as one-dimensional as Julio. Cotto on points or by late stoppage
Sup Danny boy!!! Yes Dude!! we Boricuas are exitedQuote:

Well to be fair who was Winky before the Mosley fight anyways because he wasn't thet popular when he faced Vargas.Quote:

Yeah, I would do that over guarenteed lose to Mayweather for more money.Quote:

Cotto-Hatton anyone???
Dont think Hatton will wont to know about fighting him at 147, at 147 i would fancy Cotto but i would have to favour Hatton at 140 but Cotto aint gonna drop back down so i guess its up to Hatton.Quote:

....I wonder what Mr. Luis "Fucked up Teeth" Collazo thinks about fighting Miguel now?
colazzo is pretty big, on paper it makes collazo look like he has no chance, but quintana didnt fight in an imposing manner, he looked nervous the whole time, if collazzo manages to fight in an imposing way he could outbox cotto, but if he is hesitant or sloppy he will get KTFO
