Holyfield now ranked 16th by WBC!!
How does he lose a spot after a sucessfull win against a world ranked contender?? I just don't understand how the rating system can be so manipulated and fu**ed up!! Some how he was ranked 15th after beating a guy that sells insurance and now he is ranked 16 after a good performance against a world ranked contender. Makes no sense to me at all. Crap like this is definitely part of what is killing boxing. And by the way Holyfield of now ranked 13th by the WBO and as far as I know he is still unranked by the WBA and IBF.

The same way that okhello dude gets a title shot

Re: Holyfield now ranked 16th by WBC!!
i'm a big fan of evanders, i hope he retires soon before he gets hurt even more then he already has so him going the rankungs is good, maybe he'll retire.........................yeah ok i know he won't but no harm in hoping

Re: Holyfield now ranked 16th by WBC!!
It's a conspiracy I tell you,
CONSPIRACY....
and a merciful one at that! ;)
-
Re: Holyfield now ranked 16th by WBC!!
either way he's going to end up getting a shot at Valuev. Whether he goes through the WBC gets the title and tries to unify or whether he picks off a highly rated WBA opponent trying to work their way up to a title shot of their own.
-
Re: Holyfield now ranked 16th by WBC!!
Yeah, and it's deserved, He defeated a unknown fighter and a another one who was on a comeback track also....
Evander will be ranked above this ranking when he'll defeat someone of the top10 in my opinion. His performance against Donald still in memories and it was too painful.

Re: Holyfield now ranked 16th by WBC!!
his ranked 72 on box rec :-\

ok lyle, im confused bud, you agree about him deserving/getting a title shot, but in the post with Bowe-holyfield fighting you stated the following
Quote:
Sure I would watch it!
My reason....to let the fools know that neither Bowe nor Evander will EVER challenge for a title again.
It's time to hang them up fellas
not pickin on ya, just wondering what side of the fence your on ;D

Re: Holyfield now ranked 16th by WBC!!
I wouldn't pay attention to the alphabet rankings: they are purchased, not earned. Here are the only rankings that count:

Well this is what I see happening:
I see an aging fighter who has been in numerous battles and is a hall of famer...but he's lost his youth, skills, and reflexes.
I see a promoter who would put his mother in a fight vs a prime heavyweight if it would make money and wouldn't think twice.
I also see that promoter with a control of one unbeaten biggest heavyweight title holder ever.
Do you trust Don King to handle Evander Holyfield in a way that will let him walk away from the sport? This is the man who held up Nigel Benn's hand in victory while his other fighter slumped to the canvas with brain damage!

Ok I can agree with most of what you are saying except for one major thing. In Evander's last fight he proved that without a doubt he has not lost any reflexes.... If Evander had lost his reflexes then he wouldn't of been able to block Fres's punches and make Fres miss him like he did. David Tua was unable to accomplish this. Fres was picking Tua apart before Tua finally dropped the bomb on him!! And after Fres's fight's with Bryd and Tua nobody was calling for either of them to retire because there reflexes were gone. Those are just facts. Yeah I agree Holy did appear to have lost his reflexes in his fights with Toney, Donald and Bryd. But he did claim those were due to injuries. And he did have those surgeries he claimed. So give him the benefit of the doubt. And in his fight with Fres he did look much better then Bryd or Tua were able to look against him. I know what your going to say and that is that Fres isn't a legit contender right. Well at this point in heavyweight boxing who is?? Fres was good enough to have twice challenged for pieces of the heavyweight title in the last few years and he wasn't any worse against then, then he was against Holy.
-
Re: Holyfield now ranked 16th by WBC!!
was Fres being "Fast" Fres Oquendo of the David Tua fight or Chris Byrd fight???
Or was he the Fres Oquendo of the Javier Mora fight???
That's the question cheif.....anyone can look good against a guy who's not in shape or trying to win

Brutal but yet so true...Don King? Why is he not in jail? O yea, $$$ lawyers. EH is going to get hurt badly soon but thats his deal not mine.
Anyway Lyle..................................BOWLING BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's actually pretty simple. I'm not going to argue about what fight Fres looked best in and compare that to what he looked like against Holyfield because it doesn't matter and you can't really gage fighters like that. The fact is he was throwing fast punches at Evander Holyfield when they fought each other. If Holyfield's reflexes were gone then he would not of been able to block or avoid the punches that were being thrown at him. Holyfield still has his reflexes and he can still compete with the best of them. Even though that really isn't saying very much due to the current state of the heavyweight division. I honestly think that if the division wasn't so weak that he would of retired long ago. But he still believes he has a shot at regaining the undisputed heavyweight championship. And sadly enough with the horrible champions we have today he might actually have a chance to do that.. Althought I do think he should stay away from Klitschko. Klitschko would probably hurt him bad but then again he has a glass jaw and we all know one punch could do him in. So in that regards the heavyweight division is wide open and Holyfield has as good of a shot as the next guy!
-
Re: Holyfield now ranked 16th by WBC!!
But what I am saying is Evander is a shell of his former self and Fres is even MORE of a shell....it's like Tito vs Mayorga you can't get a good judge of what Holyfield is ready for when he's fighting a guy who's 21-11-1 and then a guy who has struggled with a sorry ass fighter after taking a long layoff.
Evander might look like the best new thing in the division but he hasn't fought anyone NEAR a contender status....Oquendo WAS a contender at one time but obviously not anymore.
You cannot judge Holyfield on what he has done vs two bums, he's going to get killed and it's idiot fans like yourself who would let Evander hop in the ring with a guy like Wladimir, Sam Peter, or Nicolay Valuev
-
Re: Holyfield now ranked 16th by WBC!!
Yes, he should not be ranked lower after beating a credible opponent in Oquendo. But 16th is fair. He is not in the top 10, but top 20 right now. Also Don King don't a give a fuk about anyone but Don King. We all knew that already. He's a POS.

Re: Holyfield now ranked 16th by WBC!!
It's not bad you guys can't see the angles they are giving Holyfield....the EXPECT Evander to beat these guys so he can work his way up the ladder to get his ass kicked.
Think of how Rahman worked his way into contention by fighting: Al Cole, Terrence Lewis, Mario Cawley, and Rob Calloway
I mean Fres Oquendo WAS better than those guys but this version isn't better by much

Ok Genius, since when is it up to me or any other fan to decide if a boxer can fight?? That decision is Holyfeld's decision and Holyfield's alone!! It's spoiled little mama's boys like yourself that need somebody "anybody" to tell them what to do and when to do it. Do you honestly think that somebody else should make the decision for Holyfield?? Are you one of those guys that thinks the government should tell it's people what to spend there money on and how?? And how was Fres a shell of his former self?? I got news for you chief, Fres was never that special and he never really had a prime. Because everytime the spot light was on him he failed miserably. Fres was just as horrible when he fought Holyfield as he was against anyone else he fought!! But you can't argue that he was a contender and I also believe he was the favorite to win the fight as well. Holyfield may be a shell of his former self I"m not arguing that. But what I am saying is that shell might be enough for him to accomplish his dream of regaining the championship.

Funny how you keep talking about "this version of Fres" and "that version of Fres". Fres never had a different version. He has always been the same. He may of had some horrible performances but he has never had a great performance. Fres has and always will be a stepping stone for other contenders. I'm not sure, but wasn't he even a favorite to beat Holyfield in there fight?

Fres did beat Chris Byrd once and got robbed big time. And yes there are differnt versions of Fres, just like there are differnt versions of all fighters. The Judah who lost to Baldomir is not the same one who lost a close decision to PBF.

Re: Holyfield now ranked 16th by WBC!!
Evander might be near done. But after watching briggs non fight I KNOW holyfield could beat him!!! take him into deep water (anywhere past the first round for ol' huffy puffy briggs, and drown him!
this is evanders chance. too bad he missed out on sergei. if he had fough evander at that non pace we would have a 5 time champion!!
I dont know if he can beat anyone else. after the donald fight i felt that he should quit. he looked sooo bad that the wouldnt sanction him to fight. That might not be the fans job but it sure as hell is the governing bodies job to protect fighters from serious injury or death and to insure their safety and the integrity (what little it has) of the sport. The fres win gives him some credabilty but time will tell and thats something that evander is running out of.

Yes....and Mesi is 15th, Bowe 14th, Tubbs 13th, Morrison 12th and Mercer 11th. This is plain bullshit and is designed to grease the skids of the "Holyfield Dream." This guy just doesn't get it. I'd like to see him fight Corrie Sanders and just end the madness. If he fights one of the Russians/FSU guys or Briggs, he will get decapitated. He is shot; he has no reflexes, he has show muscles that will tire him out, he has no snap to put togther combinations and he is ripe to be ktfo! I am sick of the hype.

Ring has briggs/SL 5/6 ?? they are on crack!!!
My money says that Evander Will beat Briggs in a walkaway!!
You dont really think evander looked worse than those two bums do you??
Even in the Donald fight Evander (although pathetic) looked better
If briggs cant ko him in the first,Evander even at 25% of his best will still out work briggs so bad that shannon will be gassed and quit or be TKO'd
Talk about show muscles that will tire him out?? look at briggs!!! he had a 3 punch per pound output in the sergei fight!!! 3 punches!!!!
Evander's people should put a HUGE pile of $$$$$$ on the tabel to get a chance at briggs now. Its Evanders only chance to beat a top 10 heavy and grab a belt while he still has enough brain cells left for breathing and bowel movements.
Any one else in the top ten i think he loses and maybe takes a beating (unless he finds some old style form and punch output)
He could have beaten Sergei that night and got the belt but
I cant think that sergei could ever have a fight that bad again tho..it just doesnt seem possible

i agree with ur list also landmine, it is quite a shitty list indeed, lets see,, dokes was a known crack head!
tillis was a journey man!
pinklon was old enough to be my grandfather(and im 25 by the way)!
alex stewart gave evander a run for his money and tyson blew him out in 1!
buster douglas pulled off the biggest fluke in history and had he came in for the fight in the same shape he fought tyson it would be a different story
holmes was 200 years old and prime holyfeild couldnt put him away, holmes got koed once in his career, can u guess who?
bert cooper is another crack head and he almost beat evander
lennox lewis whooped his arse, but lewis was always over cautious, had he gone in with his big guns he would have koed him
george foreman was/is a fat ,slow heap of sh!t
oohh yeh, and ruiz is sh!T and so is the rock
all i saying is man, that evander was not dominant as a HW like he was at cruiser ;D

CC landmine, that is an impressive list.
And stavros, come one man! I like Tyson too, but face facts, Holyfield accomplished more and whipped Mike's ass. And Mike was HW champ back then, certainly not as good as his prime, but defineately not shot. Tyson wasn't shot till after Lewis KO'd him. Holyfield was a great fighter and deserves more respect than you are giving him man.

Come on now your being foolish...Give Evander his due, as a heavyweight his legacy(not talent) is far greater than Tyson's...Stop trying to make Tyson look better by demeaning his peers.
-
Re: Holyfield now ranked 16th by WBC!!
Evander is far from my favorite fighter and I like Tyson although I'm no nut job who thinks he was unbeatable at any point in time.
Evander is ahead of Mike Tyson when it comes to greatness...he was great at cruiser, he was great at heavyweight he beat all-time greats in both classes, he fought more all-time greats as well.

Re: Holyfield now ranked 16th by WBC!!
sorry boyz, but ive never thought of evander as a great hw! i will always admit he was best cruiser ever by far but all i was saying was he was not a dominant force at hw...and no matter what anyone says, tyson acomplished more in his short prime than holyfeild did...people say tyson preformed poorly against tucker and smith?why? cause he couldnt ko them, everyone expected him to ko everyone! but no one ever says sh!t about holyfeild getting his a$$ handed to him by foreman and holmes with a combined age of 85...primed tyson would have koed both there asses

Ok Lets me and you get this straight......
Mike Tyson at his best was the best and most dominant and devastating heavywieght of all time and maybe the most dominant and feared boxer of all time (click of me sucking up) :kissing:
But....over all.......holyfield did more against more.. dont forget the 3 fights against bowe and ruiz and twice againts tyson (i know i know your going to say NOT AT HIS BEST) and 2 against lewis . For a blown up Light heavy , not even a cruiserwieght! (he started his pro career at 176,177 !!) to fight against these guys is an amazing testament to his mental strength conditioning work ethic toughness etc etc. I hope he finds a softy to get a 5th title. he deserves it. maybe not for his last 2 performances but for the
50 before them!!

I hope he finds a softy to get a 5th title. he deserves it. maybe not for his last 2 performances but for the
50 before them!!
ill give u bowe but not ruiz and yes holy had a tone of hart but he struggled at hw..i know he was a natural cruiser and ive sais it many times he was the best at that weight and at heavy was inspiring since he was a cruiser weight..but its true in his prime he struggled against mediocre competion(bowe was not mediocre but a coward none the less , by fighting a cruiser weight instead of lewis) he struggled against foreman, holmes, stewart, cooper all in his prime........but i see what ur saying and im not suking up tysons a$$ but when he fought holy he only had done 8 rounds in the ring in 5 years ,he was not ready for such a damanding match that holyfeild gave him
....if holyfeild struggled at HW i wonder how marciano would have fared against bowe or lewis ;D

Foreman at 45 would have knocked Tyson out inside 8 rounds. The old Foreman was better then the early Foreman, Holyfield benefited from a great crop of Heavyweights in the 90's which made for excellent competitive fights. Tyson was prime in an era reminiscent of today’s' Heavyweights well maybe not that bad, Today’s Heavyweights are a shade of forest GREEN ... but all in all Tyson was King of the shits. so Holyfield accomplished more by beating better caliber fighters. in very competitive fights in a very competitive era of Heavyweight boxing . ;) O0

Tyson was good for the sport. He brought a lot of interest back into Heavyweight boxing, in a time just like today where Heavyweight boxing was on the decline . almost mirror images of the Heavyweight division then 1986-1989 and 2000-2006 the last great Heavyweight match was David Tua -vs- Ike Ibabuchie a fight in which I thought Tua won ! Those fowcking judges Great fight Tho ! O0 there have been some spotty decent matches in that 2000-2006 stretch but nothing really note worthy.. a damn shame !

Agree that Tyson was good for the sport. I have learned to appreciate him through the years despite the bad decision making and Oh-so-embarrasing press confrences.
Can't agree that Tua-Ibeabuchi was that last great Heavy fight but I can agree that I kind of felt that Tua slightly edged Ibeabuchi.
