This is a right list of the damned!!!!! :baeh:
Haven't seen any footage, but from reading it's probabaly Marvin Hart
Worst I've seen is probabaly Spinks
I didn't get to see Hart or Spinks, so I'm going with Ruiz.
I definitely wouldn't vote for Douglas. He was actually a very talented fighter, the most talented on that list in my opinion, he was just a total dog when it came to training.
I think a lot of non-boxing fans think he was just a guy who landed one lucky punch, but anyone who watched Tyson-Douglas knows that he dominated that entire fight. Mike was the one who landed one lucky punch.
Buster douglas simply because he pulls the biggest upset in sports history (52:1), has a shot at greatness and he blows it in his next fight. Rahman and Ruiz aren't trophy champs either.
Douglas also got a very lucky long count because in my books the fight was over after tyson knocked him down.Quote:

I've never really bought into the long count theory, because if you watch the tape, there are a few seconds where Douglas is sitting up, staring at the referee, waiting for him to get to 8 or 9, at which point he gets up. He was waiting out the count for a few seconds. So if it had been a second or two faster (I believe King argued it was 12 seconds long), Douglas still would've likely had time to get up.Quote:

Problem is Tyson never finished his job but Douglas did. Anyway I vote for Spinks as worst based soley on the fact he damn near had the an almost losing record: 25 wins and 17 or 19 losses.Quote:

lol i did love his excuse though!!
lol its was all a sham to suck lennox in or something.. i was baiting him or something to that effect!! ;D
lol love it!
Peace
Eh, so many people have held belts that I don't think you can say. I think the worst undisputed champion, purely in terms of boxing ability, is James Braddock imo.
John Tate
Was never Undisputed champ.
Never actually won the title..... But lost it in his 1st defence.... FIVE months after obtaining it... :-\
Never challenged for a title again :-X
Never looked like a serious fighter again and was even riddiculed in his home town >:mad
Id say discussion closed ::**
michael dokes has got to be there somewhere
I said John Ruiz, simply because I fall asleep everytime I see him, and furthermore, his notable wins are
James Toney, won by NC because of drug charges (lost by UD originally)
Kirk Johnson, won by DQ
Evander Holyfield, that one was legit, but he lost and drew against him as well.
definately not a dominant force in the ring.
briggs/ ruiz
Without any question (to me) it's Ruiz. he is the worst I have ever seen and a bit of a disgrace really. Personally, while nobody could question his heart, I also thought Primo Carnera was the worst in terms of pure skills.
Douglas was fantastic against Tyson, Hart was a tough bugger who could fight a bit, McCall was a nutter but he was strong and could punch (like Rahman). Bruno was always well conditioned and could really hit, at least he came to fight. Dokes was a good fighter waiting to happen who got ruined by crack, as was Spinks.
That said, even Ruiz is brave enough to get into a ring and risk humiliation and injury and I do find it hard sometimes to slag off the gladiators within the sport I love, especially those who have risen to the top of the tree
One day you were called the best fighter on the planet, the year after you were the worst in your championship class I could live with that.
Alphabet champs or World Champs?
Because there are tons of horible alphabet champs- Henry Akinwande, the alphabet champs of the 1980's, the IBC, WBU champs.
Hart has a victory over Jack Johnson when Johnson was in his primeQuote:

I think it depends on whether you saying worst overall during career.
Worst on their worst night. worst on thier best night
Or worst during the time including the night they won the belt.
Any fighter could be great at one time and then stink later on due to age lack of desire drugs etc. SO i will choose ,worst when they won (not fought for and lost) the title and during championship rein and title defenses inc. the ones they lost. Hows that with everyone??
Marvin Hart born in 1876!!?!? who gives a sh*t??
Leon Spinks i dont know.. it was his 8th pro fight!! he won the hw championship from a legend! huge upset ! sports illistrated fight of the year! (+9) rematch went for ali who outsmarted him (-7) (not hard to do to leon) hey. whats fee fi fo,.. fee fi fo fee thats leon spink's phone number! (354 3543) overall score +2
Buster Douglas awesome unbelievable fight vs tyson huge upset (+10)but the defense was a stinker and he showed up like a tub of goo (-10)so i say he breaks even on the two (0)
Hasim Rahman win was a flash knockdown in a fight he was losing. (+5) defense was a schooling and a spanking (-8) total -3
Frank Bruno beat Mcall who was a nutbar over 12 rounds (+5) then destroted by tyson ko (-8) total -3
John Ruiz bunch of wins and defenses stunk out the joint in every fight the guy is putrid! every fight is a long night of plodding holding clutching and yawning total score -9 winner of worst champion of all time. and may i nominate him for most hated for his style and fighter who ruined the most big fights of all time award as well??
Oliver McCall lets be fair. beat lewis with flash decent ko in the second then a good defense agains holmes over 12 rounds then beaten by bruno over 12
SPECIAL NOTE!! he is currently the
WBC FECARBOX HEAVYWIEGHT CHAMPION!!!! wooooooo!! aaaaaaahhh!!!!
however the guy is a coke head and a nut bar ! hey hes nuttier than a giant snickers bar! so he doesnt get a score.. give him a basket of assorted fruit. thanx. hope you get a chuckle.
Rahman just because he held the title the shortest lenght of time and he was behind in his fight with Lewis until he caught him with that one punch.
Bruce Seldon
Very short reign. Lost it looking for a soft spot on the canvas against Tyson.
....Primo Carnera and in a close second Nicolay Valuev
I always thought Rahman was a pretty decent boxer for a HW. If he were larger I think he would have been really good. Hell the Rahman/Maskeav fight wasn't that bad.
Other. Bruce Seldon
Can i vote for ruiz twice? he Doublesux!
Last time this was a topic (I had not been a board member for very long) I voted for Dokes and Akinwande.Quote:

i just hate ruiz. he was boring and a sore loser. when he lost the tite to toney only to be given it back cos of toney's disqualification he still acted like he deserved the title. and then him and his manager tried to pinch the title when he just lost it again to valuev. cry babys.
john ruiz is my second cousin. He has done alot for me personally.
You know I agreed with your Wright posting; but why the hell would you make up a lie like being related to John Ruiz?

Since then, Monte Barret and Owen Beck, among with his absolutely mediocre ability.. I agree with your top 2. have a CC.
I dont agree there big dog. Valuev has decent punch out put. doesnt hold or run like a homo (is it poofter or ginger in England.... dont even want to guess what it is down there in the hood) and due to his size has power on every punch. He hasnt ever stunk the joint out.Quote:

Not controversial in the slightest. Even if the ref did give him an extra second Tyson couldnt have done anything because the bell sounded for the end of the round whilst he was on the floor anyways
As for worst champ, I'd go with Oleg Maskaev. At least Ruiz has some big name opponents on his record.
PRIMO CARNERA!
Guys from the stone age shouldnt be on this list. How about "Worst ever heavyweight champion of the modern era"?Quote:

Instead, I get this psycho crybaby that ended up getting disqualified and probably had Mills Lane thinking: "I don't need any more of this shet."
Did McCall really say that? I can't remember. If he did, that's one of the most awesome and hysterical things in the history of sports. If someone could find that quote, I'd be indebted to you for life.Quote:
