I had to go with La Escopeta first
X 2nd
and Marvi 3rd.
i voted hagler, although ray lennard was better than all three ;)
Got to be HAgler for me, the guy beat the top guys
Leonard (yes he did)
Hearns
Duran
Thats just too close to call for me. I really aint got a clue who to chose becuase they all achieved so much! And all 3 where AMAZING boxers. Ill get back to you on this one!
Not as a middleweight he wasn't ;)Quote:

Would love to have seen BHOP fight Duran Hagler Hearns Leonard Mugabi etc etc - we would have a much better idea just how could he was (or wasn't)
1) Carlos - 2) Hagler - 3) Others :box3:
Little off topic: what do you think about Mariano Carrera? New WBA Champion... is Sturm gonna kill him?
B-HOP got a boxing lesson from RJJ when he was in his prime. Monzon didn't defend againt the quality of oppositiion that Hagler did.
Bernard was pre prime then ;)Quote:

Can you really envision Hagler mixing it with the heavies? ::**
I'd say Hagler out of that list.
Surely Roy Jones Jr must be on your list?

Leonard was phenomenal but i dont know if he was better at middleweight; he went to middleweight as he was getting older and heavier and was a much more dominating fighter in light welter and welterweight divisions. Same as Robinson. He kicked ass at middleweight but was more devastating in the lighter classes. Kinda like Delahoya; he is a great fighter but had to blow himself up to make middleweight and was not naturally anywhere near as strong and dominant when competing in that division.
Other awesome middleweights =
----Stanley Ketchel (actually fought Jack Johnson and knocked him down before getting KTFO and losing like three of his teeth to the legendary heavyweight champ)
----Harry Greb (middleweight who once beat Gene Tunney and rumored to be consistently ducked by Dempsey for a shot; fought over half his career with a torn retina in one eye)
----Bob Fitzsimmons (mainly known as a light heavy but was practically invincible at middleweight)
----Roy Jones Jr. (completely dominant at middle and super-middleweight)
----Jermaine Taylor (like it or not, he's a damn good middleweight and has beaten everyone out there, pretty much; whether u like it or not. I didnt give him either Hopkins win or the Wright draw, but u gotta go with what it says on paper, u know? If he beats Ouma he says he will go up, but as of right now he's the best middleweight out there...)
in my opinion he beat hagler and he would of beat hopkins aswellQuote:

10 Tony Zale
Just to confirm ;) SRR is the GOT but not Greatest Middle - and RJJ best days were not at Middle (even if they probably could've been if he had stayed there)
Stan Ketchel and Jack Johnson had a pre-fight agreement that Johnson would carry him for a period of rounds. Ketchel got cute and thought he could surprise Johnson and KO. He caught Johnson off guard and Johnson hit the canvas in a flash knockdown. JJ got up and laid Ketchel out with one punch, knocking out his teeth and leaving him unconsious.Quote:

Jones didn't teach Hopkins much of anything...other than it's better to run than to be hit.

Most of you lot were to young to have seen hagler I have seen boxing in the 60,s 70,s 80,90,s dont it make yu sick ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Time makes people forget, Monzons opponents were top drawer. Talk about technicians one of the best Ive seen, whether a mover or fighter hed get you. Had a wonderful sence of distance great chin and when he punched missed rarely, and was anasty cunt.
who would it be... im saying hagler
I would say Hagler if I hadn't seen his fight with Leonard
I think Robinson would have given him a tough time, and I think Monzon would have as well
I would go
Robinson
Hagler
Monzon
Hopkins
o almost forgot jake lamotta
Actually I would probably put Hagler ahead of RObinson because Robinson had a lot of troubles with Lamotta who was a sideshow compared to Hagler. Though I think RObinson had troubles with Lamotta because of his brawling type style I still believe Hagler could walk through anything RObinson could throw and eventually overwhelm him. Robinson didn't use as much footwork as Leonard and his feet weren't as fast.
A lot of the good fighters who face Lamotta beat him. He wasn't as good as the difficulties he gave Robinson made him out to be. I think Fulmer and Turpin were both better than him IMO. He would have beaten Fulmer due to size but I like Fulmer more as a complete fighter. YOu forgot Greb, FItzimmons, Zale, Ketchel... there are a lot of them.Quote:

I have these in a certain moment in time ( not the best ever which doesn't exist but the best middle in the best middleweight fights ever), call me insane but I am definitely a fanatic of the Division:
1 - Ray Robinson (vs Carmen Basilio)
2 - Jake LaMotta (vs Marcel Cerdan)
3 - Joey Giardello (vs Gene Fullmer)/Tony Zale (vs Rocky Graziano)
4 - Ray Leonard or Marvin Hagler ( against each other)
5 - James Toney or Mike McCallum ( against each other)
I like to rank Robinson at welterweight, so I'd be left with Monzon or Hagler.
Nope ....Harry Greb.Quote:

I would have to list it as either Hagler or depending on who you talk to Monzon
Hopkins is in the top 5.
It must go in terms of who did the most
Greb
Robinson
Hagler
Monzon
Ketchel
Zale
Hopkins
with other people inbetween.
