I've never seen a commentator hold strongly to his own thoughts about the
network "HE WORKS FOR" and say them out loud. You listen to all these
commentators of every other sport, they play it safe for the most part.
When are we ever going to have someone who's going to openly complain about
the ref, the mismatches HBO presents, and other things HE points out.
"Show me a guy who hates Merchant because he's biased,
and I'll show you a Biased Bast*rd." ;D
Its not becouse he's biased its because he's a sh1tty comentator.
He drags his sentances out for an hour and a half to make some stupid silly little cutsy comment. The guy is an idiot. AND he's disrespectful to boxers after a fight when they want to get a few quick thank you's in he cuts them off and is rude. He's making a living off of their sweat and blood,to disrepect a fighte or his faith is inexcusable. IMO
Is your first name Floyd, by any chance? heheh No need for "thank yous." But he does drag his sentences. haha And his poetry isn't as bad as everybody elses. As a matter of fact I bet you can't do better. ;) And I've never heard him call out somebody's faith. Rude... you have to be baby, when your surrounded by egotistic boxing bast*rds. ;D Disrespectful? I've seen him commend a fighter he "doesn't like" MANY TIMES and it goes unnoticed because people pay attention to the negatives too much in life.Quote:

maybe this guy should trade in his $300.00 GUCCI hat for a I LOVE LARRY MERCHANT hat! ;D
Yeah man, he's one of the few that does his homework oustide of boxing.
"He does .... talk..... slower... than ... punch ... drunk ..... boxers...." :D
He's old, grumpy, and .... old. ;D
But he still does his homework on the sport and comes in prepared about the boxer's history and the present state of boxing, not to mention his own network, the current ref standings, doctors, trainers, managements, and promotional companies.
Home work my butt. He is a lazy, senile hair ball who does no rseearch on any fighters except the elite. When was the last time you ever heard him talk about boxing reform or a fighter under the radar screen? I wouldn't use his hat for a dog scoop. Aside from that, I guess he is a nice man. >:mad >:mad >:mad
Who are you talking about? hahaa Are you an aspiring boxer that never got mentioned by LM?Quote:

Seriously though... I've seen endless times of Merchant being criticised for calling out boxers for what really happened..... but I've HARDLY seen many point out how many times Merchant CALLS OUT and KEEPS IT REAL with his crazy comments on HBO, the own JOB!!!
So Merchant says what he wants about boxers, AND stuff about the very network that HIRED him. ;)
He's way better than the alternatives out there.Quote:

He's a rude old cunt. He's a train wreck that people rubber neck for. It'll be a happy day when he retires
What about Russ Anber??? he's great!! Super knowledgable
and a great speaker plus he LOVES the sport!!
His enthusiasm is infectious and he has a great knowledge of boxing history! check out his show "In this corner"
He makes Larry Merchant look like the pathetic, senile, droll, drunken
babbling old fool that he is!! Time for NEW blood!!
landmine950, if I knew how to do the high five, I'd do one
Gyrokai, and I am saying to you, he is a rump swab who subconciously hates the fighters and this is becoming more and more noticable. I fought in the 50's before anyone discovered what rock he was hiding under. About 95% of the fighters hate his guts. :o :o
whoa u fought in the 50's bro? DAMN u and harry carry must have been boys then huh? were u around during the great fire of chicago when mrs. olearys cow tipped over the lantern?Quote:

Not that old but almost. I remember the Cicero Race riots and the Seiche (tidal wave) that hit Lake Michigan and all the great Chicago fighters of the late 40's and 50's. And the gtra hot dogs and pizza. Bob Satterfield was my favorite back then. Later, Bobby Chacon out of LA became my favorite along with Danny Lopez...and then Saad Mohhamed. All had the same knack for getting off the cnavas to ko thier opponent. Like Gatti did recently.
Micky Ward was my favorite before anyone even heard about him which brings me to why I despise Merchant, He dissed Micky on the DLH -Whittaker undercard, called him a "coward" as he was having an off night against an undefeated Mexican Alfonzo Gosalez...until Micky ice him with a shot to the liver. It shut up Merchant, but I will never, ever forgive him for that. He did not bother to research Micky and came out looking like the senile lazy scumball he is. >:mad >:mad >:mad >:mad
Also, we used to go to the Stadium, Marigold Gardens, Rainbow Arena and the Coleseum to watch fights. I fought in places like Waukegan, Hammond, East Chicago, Cal city, Parichy Stadium, Blue bird Field, Parks, fairgrounds, amories and Rock-ola Stadium. Whew! What shit holes! Whew!
COOL CLICK ted the bull for the nostalgia and better yet the Chi-town nostalgia!
when it comes to chi-town what i miss the most truth be told is the FOOD.
DEEP DISH PIZZA: Geno's East, Uno's, Giordanos to name a few

Peace! I will tell you though that Chicago back in the day (meaning before it was Yuppified) was a very rough, violent and mean place in which to grow up. No Jason hitting Matthew with a bitch slap. More like Jake hitting Max with a chain. O0 O0 O0
