Once again...I give you...THE UMPTENTH COMEBACK OF HOWARD EASTMAN.
Once again...I give you...THE COMEBACK OF HOWARD EASTMAN.

Not sure which number this will be...but honestly...I love Eastman. He's loaded with skills & has one hell of a chin. Not sure if you fellars saw the TKO from Miranda...but it wasn't that convincing of a stoppage & Eastman wanted to continue...then again...don't they all.
Anywho...as I was saying...I'm really fond of ole' Howard E...but you gotta start asking yourself when/if your'e becoming a journeyman/gatekeeper to the up & coming gents of 160lbs.
All I can say is...go Howard.

The UK board is where its at ;D
Howard is slowly but surely moving down the pecking order. His own stupidity cost him a stint as a world champion, he ruled Europe until Abraham beat him, now he fights for a British title. If he loses, thats it. I dont think he would be anyones yard stick. I think he took the Miranda/Abraham fights because he genuinly thought he would win. If he gets beaten by Williams (might happen) I wouldnt be surprised to see Howard bugger off to Guyana and forget boxing.

Re: Once again...I give you...THE UMPTENTH COMEBACK OF HOWARD EASTMAN.
3 losses out of his last three fights though, it really is last chance saloon for one of the real grinders of the game. Tough tough man, but he's currently been training on his own in Guyana, and i think that along with age has attributed to his downfall. Like Wacko, all I can say is go Howard, but if you lose tomorrow, then curtains please.

Eastman is good. Real good. Better then most people at 160. A prospect's worst nightmare. Hopefully he sticks around. I would personally love to see him be that proverbial "gate keeper."

eastman cant 2 or more punches together when he fights anyone good. Watch him v hopkins, he looked a fking joke
Yes hopkins was a great fighter, and no one 'looks good' but fk me hopkins was 40 and eastman showed no heart. Never even tried to take a punch and give more than one back.

Yeah but that's Hopkins. You see the Miranda fight? He was really close to having Miranda out.

No I think it was stopped in the 7th but in the 6th Eastman had Miranda in serious trouble. Memory is fuzzy but I think he even knocked him down. I know it was back and forth up until the stoppage though. Miranda is the real deal.

Re: Once again...I give you...THE UMPTENTH COMEBACK OF HOWARD EASTMAN.
I like Howard, spent some time with him years ago. Bad training habits and thinks to much, but was a very good fighter who should have done more with his career.
-
Re: Once again...I give you...THE UMPTENTH COMEBACK OF HOWARD EASTMAN.
Such a frustrating fighter. He is a BIG Middleweight loaded with skills, but he just seems to freeze on the big occasion.
-
Re: Once again...I give you...THE UMPTENTH COMEBACK OF HOWARD EASTMAN.
I think with Howard he didnt trust to many people, and was a bit of a pesamist. At one time he wanted in with us but I was to busy at the time, I often wonder.
-
Re: Once again...I give you...THE UMPTENTH COMEBACK OF HOWARD EASTMAN.
preme wot the hell are you talking about? eastman wanted to make a fight out of it when he faught hopkins and was chasing him around the ring all night. the crowd started booing because hopkins was running away on the back foot all night and just picking howard off as he charged in. hopkins was just thinking about getting his 20th tittle defence in and had no intentions of putting howard away.
eastman showed loads of heart in that tittle shot the same as he did in his other attempt against william joppy. howard could have showed a bit more urgency in the later rounds but he was probably knackared from chasing b hop round all night.

On paper that looks bad yeah but when you look closer at his losses :
* He beat Joppy in almost everyones eyes but didnt get the decision in Vegas .Even though he floored him in the closing seconds he can blame himself for not injecting enough pace
* Bernard was p4p number at the time Eastman met him and no way did he have the ideal prep to go in with a ring genuis an win . Out of his depth IMO but did well to go 12 and not taste the canvas
* Abraham did nothing to win the fight IMO . Howard should have known away from home he was guna get screwed but he didnt learn his lesson from the Joppy fight .
* I saw the Miranda fight in Vegas and was thinking its unlike Howard to fight at such a high pace. He did quite well against the unbeaten prospect . He almost had him out at one stage but he he got caught backed in the corner and the ref stepped in . Initially I thought it was a quick stoppage but from what I hear he trained in his homeland and didnt put in the effort
Hes done the same for tonights fight with Williams . I think the weight will be a deciding factor . Both guys are class. But teh mental advantage Howard has form his 3rd round K.O win over Williams in the ametuers should see him through to a victory here .

Yeah i remember i was actually quite suprised (bit disapointed too) that Hop was so conservative during the fight.

What could you have done Scrap? Eastman seems the type that only takes notice of Eastman.
I know he says he never watches videos of his opponents etc but I'm sure I remember him saying before the Hopkins fight he's never seen him fight ;D

Re: Once again...I give you...THE UMPTENTH COMEBACK OF HOWARD EASTMAN.
be about 92 he was in our gym qiute a bit and asked me to work with him but I was busy and didnt have the time to spare. You know how it is the other fighters think there missing out if you have to many. But I always liked Howard we got on, I made him smile. He just wanted direction from someone he trusted, he had a lot of natural talent I dont think we ever saw the best of Howard.

Re: Once again...I give you...THE UMPTENTH COMEBACK OF HOWARD EASTMAN.

-
Re: Once again...I give you...THE UMPTENTH COMEBACK OF HOWARD EASTMAN.
yeah think hes done.... shame really as he HAD the potential to be a great but his laid back attatude let him down.
good closing of the show thou with that KO finish but hes not the boxer he was IMO
-
Re: Once again...I give you...THE UMPTENTH COMEBACK OF HOWARD EASTMAN.
He's looked that way for about 15 years ;D
Howard could have finished him in the 11th easy, he did it to spite me I know it ;D
-
Re: Once again...I give you...THE UMPTENTH COMEBACK OF HOWARD EASTMAN.
Well, he might look old, but you can't argue with class, and after working Williams hard and wearing him out, that right hand finish was very nice indeed. I didn't like his style personally, I can imagine him being very awkward to fight, but you got to credit the fella, it was a beautiful finish, and he was effective.

-
Re: Once again...I give you...THE UMPTENTH COMEBACK OF HOWARD EASTMAN.
It was mate, Williams was cooked in the 11th though, Howard just didnt stick a fork in him ;D
-
Re: Once again...I give you...THE UMPTENTH COMEBACK OF HOWARD EASTMAN.
