A) it can be set back in place.
B) (Not to sound like a jerk, but) I'm starting to wonder if boxing is for you. Maybe you could do judo. Seriously, judo guys are REALLY tough mofos. Munky put me onto it and I want to take some too. Maybe it would be a better fit for you.
well judos not the sport i love
You never know... you might suit a broken nose... :P
Like Von says you can get it reset.
I've been training for a couple of months and I'm also a bit worried about that. Though you do have to accept being bruised if you like to box, I wouldn't want to break it either. A broken nose doesn't fit all kinds of faces ;D
So what do you mean by "having it set back"? Is it with surgery or just having a practitioner twist it to where it was before?
Thanks in advance.
depends on when you get it done and how bad... if you leave it for weeks they'll have to break it again to fix it and shit... ;)
Best to set it right when it happens if you are worried about the pain, your adrenaline will numb it pretty well.
Iagree with Von and Adam,...This is a sport that requires getting hit in the face. You can not be scared of it. Some guys spar with a nose protector to keep from getting hit in the face to much there. Charles Brewer used to wear one all the time. Though it is usually just if you already have an injury you would wear one ( they are very uncomfortable)...As for the damage to the nose it takes repeated breaks for it to be damaged. 90% of the time one or two breaks will be set just fine. Take it from a guy who has a flat nose...It was just fine the first 5 or six times.....But if you fear it that much you will be punch shy and that is the last thing you want to be in the ring it will really end up causing you to get hurt in the long run
I love to see flat noses, it shows character the scars of battle. I love mine as flat as a pancake, I can pick it and it moves where my finger wants it to go, very usefull.

OMT,
Relentless,
if you are that concerned perhaps you can get a full cage head gear. you might come across as a bit of a pansy, but it'll keep you from getting a broken schnoz. In this case, you'd be best off to tell your sparring mates to beat the crap out of you, cuz trust me, they'll want to. The way to earn respect when wearing something that nobody else is wearing it to accept the fact that you're a target.

Tufwear has a couple that look quite protective

im not really THAT MUCH afraid, i have gotten hit on the nose in sparring several times, its the looks im worried about, i dont wanna come home one day with a crooked nose
I think that's a natural concern, but you should rest a bit easier knowing that they can re-set to be undetctable.
cc back at ya Von the ringside face protector is one not only you can box in but play hockey as well lol
It doesnt hurt to be honest. Well, mine didnt.
I was numb, blood everywhere, looked in the mirror and saw it was crooked so put it back in place myself before the pain kicked in. Was a bit bruised the next day but no initial pain, dont worry about it.
so what do you exactly have to do to fix a crooked nose? do u have to straighten it right away or what?

Since we're on the subject, I'm not partcularly worried about my nose getting broken, per se. What I am concerned about is the last time I got decked real good on the nose, it didn't break (at least I'm pretty sure it didn't), but it sure bled a lot. There was a small pool on the floor. Is that going to be a real problem when I finally get into the ring?
its going to happen from time to time, I have had my vessels cauterized surgically to help prevent a massive gush, however its still going to happen., your corner will swab it with adrenaline hydrochloride and everything should be alright, just try not to blow your nose , doing so will result in your eyes swelling shut , hampering your vision . I sustained a broken nose early in a match once, and its drained down the back of my throat for the remaining 8 rounds, .. I won the bout but left the ring before the ref could raise my hand , got to the door of the dressing room ! and puked blood out like a MOFO , it went all over the place .. looked like something out of a Horror movie.. lol O0 I remember this one lady in the hall screaming like a Banshee. LMFAO.. It was funny as shit ! ;DQuote:

This is why they say stay in school. ;D
I once had a kids nose gone with the first punch... horrible... not the fact I did it... but the fact that I got covered in his blood... the shit was every where.
First shot I threw was like long range left hook/straight left, over hand left... or something... basically my jab... if you can call it that... step into it perfectly and nailed him right on the nose...
Rest of the fight was spend jabbing him on it and hugging him... had a cold and my feet where slow as hell... couldn't work angles and I spend the whole night getting walked into and hugged. he was all over me though... had dried up blood all over my calfs... ended up swallowinh some of it... :X
yeah that is nasty...LMFAO !Quote:

How that mutherfucker passed a medical is beyond me. ! The smell of road kill was putrid , and was lingering in my nostrils a few hours after the bout.
Thanks for the info. I'm glad that I don't have to worry overmuch about the bleeding. And who know? Maybe I'll recreate a B-horror film by puking blood all over the place and scaring the s*** our of onlookers too. ;D That'd be pretty darn funny.
u have all tips of noses..my is like a stone..i get punches and nothing happens..i get with head and nothings happens.......so if u have real boxing heart..is broken nose nothing....bether watch that i will be not nocked down...
Well.........If you get knocked out, the nose story will seem less tragic. When you think of it....how bad is the nose situation after you're tits up on the canvas? I hope this optimistic view has helped in some crossed-eye way.
