*Saddos 2006 Boxing Awards*
OK.... So we ALL (including myself) often complain about who gets the Fighter of the Year award, or Fight of the Year award...
That being said I though we could hold our own awards..... You can ONLY vote once per category... So heres how it's gonna go. I'm gonna create a list of the awards that we will be giving.... ;D You will then reply with your nominees/votes and by the end of the month before the new year I will add up all the nominees and see who got the most votes.
Be sure you put them in the order which they appear so that votes are tallied correctly..... Put the number of the category beside your nominee. If you don't have a nominee for all category's right now you can post what you do have now and then comeback and edit your post before the end of the year. ;) Lets do this people....

Re: *Saddos 2006 Boxing Awards*
Thanks Sal ;)
4. Judah Baldomir
5. Grand Finale
Im tempted to nominate Pacquiao's KO of Morales as KO of the year. Im sure there have been more violent blows delivered but it was hugely significant.

Majesty & Killersheep
Could you modify/amend your posts?
For #7. Comeback fighter of the year - Is a fighter on the comeback but NOT in an actual fight.
Like Hopkins is a comeback fighter, he lost twice but came back and beat Tarver.
Oscar cameback also....
Baldomir cameback also...
Thanks..... To you both... ;)

Why do you consider Vazquez-Gonzalez an upset? Vazquez was, is the Ring champion at that weight. Gonzalez was the one moving up in weight for the fight. I'm not exactly sure but I think Vazquez was also the slight favor going in. I'm just wondering why you consider it an upset?

I don't even think Evander himself brags about who he beat. Bates? Oquendo? I think I'll hold off on Holyfield 2007.

Most were predicting Gonzales to win...I was one of the most. Hence the reason that I considered it an upset.
Vaz might have been the champ at that weight & he might have been considered that by Ring...but going into the 7th...IWO...Gonz was on top of the fight until Vaz clocked him. Gonz had lowered the boom on Vazquez in the 4th and 6th rounds with several left hooks but he worked his way back through it & then pretty much hammered him in the tenth round.
Gonzalez was ahead on the scorecards...again...hence the reason I saw it as an upset.

I don't even think Evander himself brags about who he beat. Bates? Oquendo? I think I'll hold off on Holyfield 2007.

But I think VD's right that the odds slightly favored Vasquez. Meaning that most people didn't pick Gonzales to win the fight. If anything, it was the fact that Gonzales got up on the scorecards in the first place (before getting KTFO) that was slightly surprising. But in any case--you really think that's a bigger upset than Baldomir-Judah? Or Collazo-Hatton :D
