cc for the hard work mate, pretty much agree with it all, just felt the boxing world was way more shocked when calzaghe done what he did to lacy, rather than what baldi beating zab

De La Hoya as comeback fighter of the year is a bit surprising to meQuote:

bhop came back to whoop lightheavy king tarver, and oscar only came back to do what tito just did to get a big fight and that is k.o punching dummy mayorga. and oscar only had that win this whole year.
pac made a great comeback this year too, he k.oed morales in the rematch and showed improvement added arsenal. shutting up critics about him being one demensional and never gonna be anything but a left straight fighter.
as for wlady, after getting k.oed by sanders then gasing out to lose to chump brewster, wlady has come back to prove critics wrong about his heart chin and stamina, he went twelve with peter prove his stamina, then got up after getting k.d to prove his heart and improve chin. he also k.oed recent longest reigning heavy champ bird and then k.oed undefeated brock.
I think it was a great year for wlady.
Oscar comeback of the year my foot! He fought ANOTHER Tito victim! B Hop or Casamayor should have got it! Other than that,I concur. Excellent work Mick,CC.
yea casamayor is another guy that should get comeback of the year then oscars, because oscar had only one win and that was against someone he should beat(mayorga) and casamayor out gun rival chico in the third fight.Quote:

I'm quite suprised by all of the results to be honest.
Pacquiao destroyed Morales, but I'm certain Barrera, Guzman, Barrios, Alex Arthur, Valero and half a dozen others could have beaten him too. He was done plain and simple.
Against Oscar Larios Pacquiao didn't have nearly as easy and Larios was moving up in weight.
The Gonzalez Vasquez fight was a snooze fest for 6 or 7 rounds, I remember Larry Merchant commenting as much saying how the crowd were subdued compared to how they were in the preceding fight Barrios vs Guzman which had a lot more action.
Yes it was exciting when Vasquez came back but it was a funny fight in which no single round was remotely competative. Gonzalez dominated for 6 or 7 rounds until he ran out of gas and then it was quickly ended by Vasquez.
The Litzau Hernandez fight last week was more entertaining, but anyway I digress, more people disagree with me than agree on this one it seems :-\
Round of the year should have been Lyakhovich vs Briggs, just beacuse it was a freak victory and something that people will talk about for a long time.
Comeback fighter of the year imo should have been Bernard Hopkins. We all thought after two losses to Taylor that he was done but he came back and whupped Tarver surely the best comeback of the year?!
Event of the year I agree with, as I do with upset of the year.
I thought Gonzalez-Vazquez was overrated too, for the reasons you mentioned. Good fight, in my top ten fights of the year but not a great fight.
Bilbo,I don't disagree with you often but round of the year to Briggs-Lyakovich? Poeple will talk about it for a long time?? Dude, you are WAYY WAYYYYYYY OFF!! No one I know talks about it!
I think Monshipour Sithchatchawal should have been fight of the year,Pacman Morales 2 was second best. And I disagree,Manny beat Erik after Erik beat his ass first time around. Manny stopped Erik, something most thought was impossible. That alone was achievement of the year,Larios and the third Morales win was just the icing on the cake and NO WAY would those guys you mention beat the Morales from the second fight,no way. They don't have the heart Pacquiao showed, remember he was losing 4 rounds 1 I think before taking over! He was getting outboxed and outbrawled for those rounds so again,I reiterate, thats why Manny won fighter of the year. NOTHING anyone else did compared to that imo.
its easy to say barrios arthur valero and guzman and you said half a dozen more could of beat morales, yea its easy to think that after what pac did to em, I highly doubt any of those guys would of beat morales ever. if anyone could of it would not be the way pac beat him. if there is anyone who maybe could only guzman has a shot against morales...its ok though you have your own oppinion but if you say any of those guys and a dozen more could of beat em, I'm sure all of those guys pac would whoop too and that's why he is fighter of the year. as for the larios fight, pac did had it easy he promise to make it entertaining and give his hometown a good show and he took it easy on larios to keep that promise...notice everytime pac drop larios he wasn't as aggressive he wanted to make it last...Quote:

Thanks for the all the work putting this together Mick. The only award that I have much beef with is the ODLH comeback award, but then again, looking back at my votes, I feel pretty stupid for voting for Mosley and not Hopkins or Wlad. I'm a big Mosley fan, and I'm not the biggest Hopkins fan, and I let that cloud my judgement.

I think you'll be suprised El Gamo, I mean Maskaev's knocking of Rahman out of the ring about 8 years ago was the entire basis for their rematch last year.Quote:

To be honest, all the media coverage that we were getting in Britain was that Lacy was going to dominate at SMW for years, and there were some clips of some devastating punches, so I was very apprehensive on the drive up to Manchester. Enzo v Hobson was the best fight of the night in the end, but it was Joe's tar turn that people will remember, as even his fans were a little worried about what Lacy could do.Quote:

Well regardless of what is said about Lacy, I'm still a fan. If he can improve he will be a champ. hes young he needs to focus and get it together.
Alright gonna leave this up for another day or so as it's still getting lots of views. :)
