Peter 249, Toney 234!
Peter 249, Toney 234!
Samuel Peter outweighed James Toney by 15 pounds for their SHOWTIME-televised rematch on Saturday night at the Seminole Hard Rock LIVE Arena in Hollywood, FL. Toney weighed in first at 234, one pound more than the first fight, although his body looked to be in much better shape. Peter scaled in at 249, eight pounds less than in their first fight. The Peter camp selected Reyes gloves, while the Toney group selected Everlast.

Re: Peter 249, Toney 234!
234. I didn't totally buy into the hype but I thought he'd be at least about 230.
His body "looked in much better shape"? He can't possibly look in that good of a shape at 234 unless he's been lifting a lot.
Dissapointing, although I guess I'll wait and see the pictures before I make a final judgement. Doesn't totally change my thinking about the fight but still a bit dissapointing

Re: Peter 249, Toney 234!
The weight sounds less than ideal for james..But it will still be reassuring if he is truely in better shape..
Peace

Re: Peter 249, Toney 234!

Re: Peter 249, Toney 234!
How is it biologically even possible to train as hard as Toney has supposed to have been training, whilst eating a low fat diet consisting mainly of lima beans and salads, and yet to still weigh in at 234 lbs ???
Either Toney is the unfortunate sufferer of some weight disease, or else im and his camp have been talking a load of shite in the run up to this fight.
I'm inclined to believe its the latter.
How ironic that with all the pre fight attention on Toney's new work and diet ethic and the big hoolah surrounding this Billy Blanks bloke, (who admittedly I had nver heard of) that it is Sam Peter who quietly has been shedding the pounds in an effort to make himself more mobile for the rematch.
I've got a bad feeling on this one for James, he talks a good fight but rarely really lives up to his own hype these days, I'm thinking Peter could be on his way to an easier victory this time around.......

Re: Peter 249, Toney 234!
Article moved to new post. Assosiated Press Article.
Please note- The intention of the post was just to provide a link for the origional actual article for the information and ease of those who may not have seen it or known where to look. The humourous addition was for the benifit of those who might appreciate it and sense my dissapointment with Toney's weigh-in after his previous statements. I will refrain from replying to any of your posts in the future.

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -- James Toney removed his false teeth, waddled by holding a doughnut and stumbled confidently to the meat packing scale.
"234!?!?," Don King yelled out. "WHat the F#CK!!"
Toney then displayed his enormous pair of man boobs
His camp said that when Toney lost a split decision to Nigeria's Samuel Peter in September, he was nine pounds heavier, even though he was in fact one pound lighter. He is now considerably flabbier and hardly in the shape befitting a heavyweight contender. But after enlisting the help of Homo poofer Billy Blanks, Toney believes he's more than ready for Saturday Night Fever's "Fat Funky Dance Night."
"I'm in 150 percent better shape now," said Toney, who actually was attempting to become a perfect sphere. "And I will show everyone that on Saturday night." He then continued to snort thick lines of icing sugar!
Peter (27-1, 22 knockouts) was the one who kept his mouth shut, both during interviews and at the buffet line ups and actually lost some weight for the rematch; he was 257 when he got the controversial win over Toney (69-5-3, 43 KOs), and weighed in Thursday afternoon at 249. A loss of the 8 pounds that Toney so desperatly needed.
"Doesn't matter if he's working with that homo dancing trainer and learned how to "shake-booty," Peter said. "I train with a real trainer. I smash people in the face, I eat barb wire, drink battery acid and put tabasco sauce in my eyes! You're going to see what's going to happen, I'm gonna wring him like a wet mop!"
The winner of this elimination fight gets a mandatory shot at the WBC title against champion Oleg Maskaev, who claimed that belt with a surprising knockout of Hasim Rahman in August and defended it last month by pumelling a homeless old drunken wandering transvestite in Moscow.
"I don't think the Russian will be sober enough to be able to beat either one of these guys," said King, even though Maskaev - who was born in Kazakhstan - is an American who only recently received dual testicle transplants.
After the first fight, Toney's camp got an offer of help from Billy "the black she-male" Blanks, a former dance artists and Golden Shower champion who's become a fitness icon selling his "I Blow" tapes.
Blanks completely changed Toney's workout and eating regimen, putting him on a 31,500-calorie diet and hiring someone to prepare him five huge greasy meals a day. He also moved Toney's training camp into the lobby of a local 24 hour Burger King
So, long binges of fried foods, carbs, cigars and trips to Toney's favorite, Jerry's Famous Deli were a major part of Toney's training.
No, boiled lima beans, gallons of water, fish fillets and a mysterious green gunk to cleanse his system.
"I would challenge any boxer to come do what James Toney has done to prepare for this fight and live." Blanks said.
Naturally, the Peter camp was impressed with Blanks' assessment and since this is boxing, expressed those sentiments loudly during the pre-fight news conference that lasted more than two hours.
"I watched a lot of films on Billy. I watched Billy work on television with those pink gloves on and kicking his legs all up in the air and throwing legs over here and legs over there," said Stacy McKinley, one of Peter's trainers. "I admire your tight butt, but this isn't boxaerobics."
Countered Blanks, rising from his seat on the dais: "Billy Blanks ain't no bad hump. Billy Blanks has been straining for almost 40 years. So when it comes down to it, if Stacy wants to go into the hottub with me, I'll go down on him."
And the shouting match went on for a few more minutes, while King stood at center stage waving American flags, rambling incoherently, making up new words like "superdelectablishism" and looking like a senile convicted murderer, both fighters seemed mostly unamused by the proceedings.
"Saturday night, James will be ready for the Red lobster "All the seafood you can stuff into your fat face" buffet "Blanks said.
I'm not really one to usually try and dissuade others creative outlets but your fan fiction that appears in so many of the topics I open is really kind of old and boring.

This picture speaks volumes. Blanks will have to go back to making those crappy-ass direct-to-video martial arts movies. ::**
Toney is such a jackoff. ::**

Re: Peter 249, Toney 234!
i think blanks did a great job he kept toney from gaining 50 extra pounds which he wouldve with out blanks

Re: Peter 249, Toney 234!
Another pic....or actually I guess just a different angle
http://previews4.wireimage.com/image...00781903PM.jpg
I do think Toney looks better, whether he weighs a pound more or not. Looks more solid, like he's been lifting. Doesn't have that fat face, and just seems more solid. But he's still too big, it doesn't really matter what he looks like, he just needs to be in better shape so he can be more active. I guess well have to wait and see.
Peter looks better too though.
-
Re: Peter 249, Toney 234!
Toney seems to be in very good shape for 234....he looks strong.
Sam Peter looks skinnier but with his style I doubt the results will show vs Toney
-
Re: Peter 249, Toney 234!
looks like Sam Peter was weighed with his SIDE KICK on his hip?

I believe Toney may have a similar problem to Danny Williams....too many energy shakes that his coach isn't keeping an eye on! Naah, there was some speculation that Toney would come in 220-225, but he doesn't have the motivation IMO. He still thinks he can beat the world without training at all, but that just ain't the case. Beating Rydell Booker and Dominc Guinn does not make you a world beater at HW I'm afraid, and it's gonna look bad for him come fight night.

Re: Peter 249, Toney 234!
Even though Toney don't look that good, he still whoops Peter.

Re: Peter 249, Toney 234!
God, Toney really frustrates me, but he does look better. He's definitely been lifting and you can tell in his face, shoulders, and chest. I'm starting to wonder how much cardio Toney actually does. Cardio is needed to burn that fat off his stomach, even though he's 234, he looks trimmer and more muscular. I just wish that he would do more roadword. Peter wasn't lying when he said he'd been running and doing roadwork and it will pay off.
-
Re: Peter 249, Toney 234!
Mann i think toney looks good you know...
We cant expect him to look like he did for holyfield , and booker but damn he aint flabby and he looks full and strong...
dont know why people are pissed..Keep blanks around and in two to three fights we have a much larger version of the shape he was in when first a heavyweight...
And plus no matter if he's completely thin or not..If he has truely been eating right and all that noise
it doesnt have to show..Its possible that his diet has helped conditioning a great deal!
We cant say hes not in shape till we see him fight..But things looks good
Peace
-
Re: Peter 249, Toney 234!
I'm quite impressed with those pics, Toney has lost the fat off of his face and although there is lots of fat on his body, you can see the muscle tone underneath - he has definitely worked hard this time.
Fat Pr1ck ;D

Re: Peter 249, Toney 234!
Yeah, i figured weight wasnt ever the issue with Toney.... ( ::** Come on, im being serious!) Just his physical condition.
He looks good for it, thin faced n that. (Still got a tyre belly though.... But then again, Lennox Lewis at 38 wasnt exactly ripped was he?)
To be totally honest, i think Peter has stole the show at the scales man! Peter looks ite, dunno if he'll balloon up though?
Still, he did a better job than Toney....
Hope that dosent depress Toney to the point of scoffing! ::**
-
Re: Peter 249, Toney 234!
To be completely honest i think that toney has to carry some extra fat in order to get some extra leverage and to steer his opponents at heavyweight. His style depends on him having a heavy foudation so he is not to be pushed around by some bigger stronger guy.... in other words anything under 235 is as good as it gets for a 38 y/o Toney.
-
Re: Peter 249, Toney 234!
I think I read somewhere else when Toney first Hired Blanks that He was not trying to loose to much weight because we wants to beable to withstand a shot from a big heavy weight. Plus if you think about it being 38 years old and for so many years really not giving it your all in the training department it will be harder to shed the pound then say someone who is 26 (I think Peter is 26) because when your younger its easier for you to loose weight normally your metabolism is higher.
I still think James looks allot better then his last two fights you can really see the muscle definition so you have think that he has put forth the effort I just hope it was enough to pull out the win.

Apparently it wasnt all fat though, apparently he looked in very good shape.. so maybe what was fat is now muscle and he's in better physical shape.

Re: Peter 249, Toney 234!
He weighs the same but he looks like hes in much better shape. remember weight isn't the sole factor in determining someone's physical conditioning. He looks like hes in much better shape and he will box peter to a clear cut ud.
-
Re: Peter 249, Toney 234!
He does look in much better shape. In some of the press videos he has done recently his face looks rediculously bloated, it doesnt in that shot. I think people were expecting to see Toney with square pecs and a washboard stomach. Never going to happen.

Re: Peter 249, Toney 234!
James Looks Fantastic for 234 very solid he is exactly were he needs to be against a 250lb hard punching Sam Peter, Toney is a counter puncher and fights in spurts, so he dosent need to do 5 miles a day of roadwork, interval training fits him perfectly and I wouldnt be suprised if thats how Bill Blanks trained him.
People laugh at Blanks and call him a Martial arts Equivilant of Richard Simmons, but the guy knows his shite and is a bona fide Martial Artist not just some yahoo that did infomercials.
-
Re: Peter 249, Toney 234!
I like Toney.. he can be nasty,, but he cracks me up,, he really do... you can see in Toney's face he has done better condition ... but even so.. he needs to be around 217 to utilize his assets. .. 234 is still 234 muscle or not.. added bulk just slow you down in there., this aint football. Bulking up is a negative in boxing , what ever muscle you put on doing pushups , bagworks, and chin ups and light (free weight) workouts is all the muscle you going to need in boxing . I am afraid that Toney is going to be flat footed at 234 which will should allow Peter to club him to death.. I see Peter winning this one by KO... should be a fun watch ! O0

Re: Peter 249, Toney 234!
peter has lost 8 pounds i think it is he seems to be the one who has trained harder but we will see but im picking peter to win a decision but we will wait and see  but im not impressed with toney he is heavier than he was for first fight i know you lot are saying he looks better this and that but fact of matter is he is still heavier and imo its not good news and im not toney hater i like the guy thats just the way i feel about it ill talk to you tommorow guys peace

This week's boxing news actually quoted Harry Duiven Snr saying something like: "My son is a brutal man, I am more of a technician." Rumours of a rematch abound.....
