Please tell me you're wearing gloves. Laugh as you may it's been done. I don't mean to be a wise guy buy it sounds like you went out and bought a stand up bag, brought it home and started punching it. I'm sure the wife thinks its sexy but you have to wrap those hands and learn how to punch. If you want to stay home and hit the thing buy some LARGE gloves and try to keep the impact on the two large knuckles.

another interesting thing is that many newbs wrap their hands too tight which actually causes the pain it's supposed to mitigate. bone rubbing on bone. I'm EXTRENELY finnicky about three things in life... the tightness of my wraps (and I'll actually re-wrap them several times in the early stages of my workout until they feel just right), my hockey skate laces (which I'll tie and re-tie several times over the course of a game so they're perfect), and my hair. lol. ;D
Well my dad said to me that your're not suppose to be hitting the punching bag for an hour which I tend to do. Thats too long spending time on the bag he says.
So what my dad is saying, you think could be a factor about my hands throbbing when I throw a punch?
Oh and by the way I do were wraps and i wear them the right way. the wraps feel just fine on me.
I put on Boxing gloves on too like your're suppose too. I also close my hands real tight before when i hit
the bag.
Ive a feeling youre not wrapping the hands correctly 80% of boxers dont I see the techniques for wrapping hands on sites and theyre wrong. Theres to many people put to much bandage on the palm so when they punch the metacapules spring, plus they bandage to tight when you make a fist the knuckles expand, look into it
this is how you need to wrap mate.

If all else fails..Then perhaps consider taking vitamin tablets and such..
things like cod liver oil are reccomended..
Wont notice too many changes quickly..But its quite simple to just remeber to take on tablet a day..
And if its a problem that nothing else seems to help then long term these tablets do you good.
Peace
what i want to know is how the fuck u hit the bag for an hour u must have good stamina or do u jsut do it on and off on ur own pace?
the same thing was happening when I first started boxing
I know its not what you want to hear but the best thing to do is take 2-3 weeks off to let them heal properly.
Think of it this way, you can carry on with your (ridonculous) schedule and do your hands serious damage and then have to wait many months for them to fully heal, OR you can just take a few weeks off.
^^ yeah def let them heal
that's more or less the way I do 'em. I actually tie the left one looser than the right because I beleive nothing is symmetrical so neither should your stuff be. your left hand has different needs that your right, too.Quote:

I heard that at first you will feel pain, but then the more you practise and punch the bag, the less pain you get ??? I take it this is not true lol
GoldenBoy21 you are a real moron. Almost every boxer with an extended career has had issues with their hands at one time or another. Are you saying that Calzaghe, Gatti, Mayweather Jr, Clottey....just to name recent ones are queers?
I have bag gloves and I wear them, however, I don't wrap my hands. Occasionally my hands (usually my jab hand) may go to hurting a little bit, so I'll quit for a couple of days, but most of the time I'm fine.
(Please don't let it be that I'm weak and not hitting the bag very hard and that's why my hands don't hurt even though I don't wrap them)
I used to have this problem when i would hit a heavybag without any gloves. I was 14 at the time and it seemed like every punch i threw ended in shooting pain going done the side where my thumb was. This still happens occasionally if i hit the bag without hand wraps. The key is to embrace the fact that you will have early onset arthritis.
The key is to wear wraps ... they only $3.50 for a set of wraps.. your hands have little bones and tendons . what happens is the heavybag over time is going to start to give, overtime it will soften to some degree, this is not going to make it easier on the hands, what happens is your fist will sink into it in an uneven manner causing more force and pressure on certain areas of the hand and knuckle. . wrapping the hand helps keep your wrist protected and in proper form as well has keeping your knuckles in a tight concrete form .
if you boxing serious, your hands are your assets. you need them to be in good health .. So protect them. its so easy to do. O0
Yeh its seriously good advice to look after your hands bieng a boxer...Quote:

My advice..Just throw lightly and keep practicing..Watch fighters and learn from them..
Then when you got it down then you can hammer your bag all you like
that's true. good point. cc.Quote:
