WBC Refuses To Sanction Barrera-Marquez
WTF!! BASTARDS""" >:mad >:mad >:mad >:mad >:mad >:mad Suliman said that MAB either had to fight Pacman or his mandatory,Soto. As much as I like Soto,I;d MUCH rather see MAB fight Pacman and I don't think we'll ever see MAB Pac,and even if we do,what will MAB have left? Is he going to fight Soto, then JMM then Pac? How long will Pac be out for? This is ANNOYING!!

Re: WBC Refuses To Sanction Barrera-Marquez
What a load of old blocklockers!! Marquez and Pac are the only fights that I wanna see Barrera in at this stage of his career really...before he gets too old...

jmm is actually older then mab.
but yea I think mab has to give up his title to fight jmm, the wbc wants mab to fight pac. I don't really want to see mab vs. pac I want to see jmm vs pac again more.
this sucks so does this mean no jmm vs mab???

Re: WBC Refuses To Sanction Barrera-Marquez
Barrera cant relinquish his WBC title cuz theres no guarentee that Pac will go ahead with the rematch after the Marquez fight , then where will Barrera be ? He needs to bring summat to the table and the WBC is too good of a title to get rid of without contractual plans elsewhere

Soto is number 1 contender,he'll fight MAB for the title. A dangerous dangerous fight for MAB and although he is favourite,Soto will challenge him more than Juarez.

Thats true but I dont think he hits as hard as Juarez and if you cant hurt Mab then you are in trouble . He cant outbox him but I see what you mean , he'll provide more pace than Juarez did . The experts said Rocky was undermotivated for Soto cuz he was due to fight Chi for the legit title but it fell through . Tbh honest I think the Mab 2 fight proved that Juarez wasnt under motivated , he just always fights at a lazy pace .

Re: WBC Refuses To Sanction Barrera-Marquez
I hate the alphabet gangs as much as the next guy, but Soto did give up a substantial portion of his pay check in order to be deemed the mandartory contender, and then after he pays all that money and wins the fight, the WBC goes and says that MAB can fight PAC if he wants. If they were to allow him to fight JMM also, then all credibility would be stripped from their mandatory challenger system
-
Re: WBC Refuses To Sanction Barrera-Marquez
The hell with them....Today titles mean nothing unless it is The Ring title or you are the undisputed champ,,,,I say fight anyway...The sanctioning bodie has nothing to do with how good the fight will be anyway
-
Re: WBC Refuses To Sanction Barrera-Marquez
Fwocken Jose, gonna have to give him a buzz and ask him what the fwock does he think hes doing? >:mad
I say MAB should let go fo the belt, continue to fight JMM and the winner of that fights Pac.

Re: WBC Refuses To Sanction Barrera-Marquez
Fuck the WBC. I swear...it seems that everyone is out to fwock with Golden Boy lately...am I just the one to see that?

Sadly when you say everyone, I hope you mean EVERYONE even the fans/people have it out for GBP.

That's true. He should fight against Soto and then PAC.

Suliman has his hand in Arums pocket ! ;) Oscar needs to open his pocket book and counter ! ;) . "it's a you suck my dik, I suck yours" kind of business. boxing politics are bullshit , you get the ranking and the fights your promoter pay for .
You really think the list of top 15 Heavyweight ranked are the best fighter in the world ? ? ? Hehe they guys ranked 110 that would smoke this division.. They just have no representation. Got no financial backing . John Ruiz could lose for 10 years str8 and he would still be in the top 10 cause of his affiliations . Now when his contract is up , watch him drop to the bottom like a sack of shit .

Yeah, excellent point,Juarez is very lazy, slow.and it also shows because I didn't see him running back asking Soto for a rematch. Soto does not have as much power as Juarez in 1 hand but it;s a 2 fisted attack, hed and body, good ower in both, fast hands, good jab,and excellent chin. He is going to be a tough fight for anyone and I like him alot.

if mab can't fight pac, then i want him to fight JMM as much as the next guy; but blasting the wbc is wrong IMO, soto got to where he is by paying his dues and deserves a shot at the WBC, barrera is good enough to fight anyone without a belt IMO, and saying he beats JMM pac wudnt not want to fight him 'coz he was no longer the wbc champ.
I think mab should vacate and fight JMM, but i agree that soto should be alowed to have his shot.

No offense...but from a fan's standpoint...I can not look at it that way. As long as wev'e been wanting this match up of worthy contenders & as long as the rivalry has been building...& then they won't sanction the match over a mandatory.
That's fucking wack & I am honestly surprised that another fan see's it that way.
It'd be like Calzaghe vs Kessler getting blown off for a mandatory match with Manfredo.

i can see from a fans point its annoying as shit, like i said i want barrera to fight pac or JMM, but soto should be given his chance, what happens if he beats JMM? soto will have to wait again so barrera could fight pac?
Barrera was meant to fight the winner of pac v morales, 'coz of all this promo shit the pac fight aint happening so why shouldn't soto get his shot? alot believe soto to be a good talent, how can you tell him that he will have to wait for his shot because JMM is a bigger name and coming from another wait - now that would be bullshit boxing polotics
FYI if calzaghe and kessler both wanted to fight, calzaghe would of still had to give up his IBF, and kessler his wbc or wba, can't remeber what one (could be both..)

My whole thing is this...they have the fight basically signed...a mega fight to clear up positions...& then they toss in Soto...it's bullshit.

I'm not saying that Soto aint talented...I'm saying why not get those negotiations started prior to the Marquez fight being settled.
Soto, IWO, hasn't paid his dues to get a shot at Barrera over Marquez.

FPI, I was using Calzaghe Kessler as a tool to get you to see what I was trying to say due to the fact that Kessler has done as much as Marquez has to warrant a shot at his man, respectively.
Joe will have to drop the IBF belt if I'm not mistaken...not both.

guess we will have to agree to dissagree on this one, i would rather see marco and jmm fight, and i hope he vacates, but soto has got to number 2 with the wbc and should be alowed to have his shot.

Yeah...maybe my love for Marquez clouds my judgement...but I just wanna see my guy perform & get his name out there.
I suppose that Soto does deserve the shot...I'm just hung up on the notion of Barrera & Marquez making a show of it.

Barrera & Marquez are now stars on his roster...& he automatically pits them against each other?
Kinda odd...but it equates to money & also straightening out the Pacquiao rematch situation later down the road...if Arum allows that to happen.

On the surface it may seem odd, but you have to take their ages into account. Both these guys are in their 30s, it's not like they have a ton of fights left in them. If you assume Pacquiao is out of the mix due to legal trouble, then it's smart to put Barrera in against Marquez. If you keep him away from Marquez, Barrera could conceivably lose in an upset to a young up-and-comer, a Juarez type fighter, and then Barrera's days are likely over, and he never gets the big fight at all.
Both Barrera and Marquez are on short-term schedules, they don't really have time to waste months or years fighting second-rate opponents.

Here's the thing on Marquez...he hasn't been in nearly the battles that most fighters have. His counter punching defensive natured style has kept him out of some serious beatings.
Now I aint trying to disagree with you or come off as naive...but I truly believe that that will keep him young in his career.
Make sense? I know it sounds stupid...but Marquez's style has kept him out of some serious scrapes...then again...lately...he's been standing & trading a lot more.
-
Re: WBC Refuses To Sanction Barrera-Marquez
I completely get what you're saying about Marquez, he is young for his age. But here's the problem, if Pac is out of the question for now, and you keep Barrera away from Marquez, then who else is there at 130 that's a legit big name opponent for Barrera? No one out there has the rep and cache that Marquez has. If Barrera-Pacquiao can't happen, then Barrera-Marquez is the only other big fight to be made IMO.
And from Marquez's perspective, you know he wants this fight. He's fought all these years and has never got a chance to prove himself against the two great Mexican fighters of this generation, Barrera and Morales. He's not going to pass up the opportunity to go up against Barrera.
-

Agreed. Barrera's days are either numbered...or already crossed offa the calendar.
As far as Marquez not getting a shot at proving himself...I've always said that he's one of the best kept secrets of 130lbs...looking into it a bit deeper...that might be a curse. I still can't for the life of me understand why he couldn't get the matches.
Know what I mean? I'm sure the easy answer is that it's his style only being pleasing to purists & what not...but that's changed now. I don't kjnow...I jsut really dig on Marquez.
Sorry about the typing...bit wasted at the momemnt. Heh hehe heh.
You might laugh at this one...but I really REALLY wanted to see Marquez vs Harrison...but he can't beat Jack Daniels...so how the fwock's he ever gonna get a shot at Marquez.
-

Very good fighter + technical style + not a big name + not a big box office draw= No one wants to fight you.
It's the exact same reasons why Winky Wright never got his big fights until his early 30s.

Re: WBC Refuses To Sanction Barrera-Marquez
Thats the WBC's loss not the fans
-
Re: WBC Refuses To Sanction Barrera-Marquez
You know what? I found a silver lining here.....Soto beats MAB and possibly Marquez and then fights Pac. For those that think that Soto is not capable of pulling that of, you either did not see him fight or only respect fighters who have huge names. Soto and Pac is a great fight and we've already seen Pac fight the other two so if Soto does do then why the hec not.
-
Re: WBC Refuses To Sanction Barrera-Marquez
Who gives a fuck what the WBC wants. Dump that shit in the trash like Bowe did and fight.

Re: WBC Refuses To Sanction Barrera-Marquez
In the end, this ruling is going to mean absolutely nothing. Barrera has never cared about belts, and I doubt he's going to start caring now. He's not going to walk away from a big fight to fight some #1 mandatory contender who he has no interest in fighting. Barrera-Marquez will still happen, and the WBC will just give their belt to someone who hasn't earned it and no one will even care. It's why the alphabet belts don't mean anything and haven't for a long time.

from the 130lb standpoint, i dont think so cuz JMM has yet to even fight at 130 yet while Soto actually abandoned his WBC 126 interem belt to fight an Eliminator at 130 for the right to face MAB. JMM on the onther hand still has the WBO and has never fought at 130 yet.
my solution would be to let MAB face JMM and have Soto face Pac or someone for the Interim Belt. that way the winner of MAB/jmm would have to face the winner of Pac/Soto and everyones happy.

think both barrera and JMM got ot much pride not to fight each other, and one thing i like about GBP they aint scared of putting their best fighters in the ring with achother, or up and comers, liek that jimmiy jaxa (Sp) he looke dpretty sharp in there with JMM; i think in some years you might see him fighting for a title, but GBP wasn't worried about putting him in with one of/the best at the weight and as a result got stopped by JMM...
+ ONe thing oscar knows prolly better than anyone else in the world, being in big fights, win or lose as long as you do well you get credit and more big fights...
But yeah, no doubt money is a factor:P
