James Toney VS Nicolai Valuev
I posted this becaude Tito BHB said that Toney would beat EVERY heavyweight out there except Klitschko and Peter.
Really who agrees? how would he do against the current WBA champion
The Toney vs Klitschko post was so ridiculous I just had to follow it up with this!

Re: James Toney VS Nicolai Valuev
toney would have to jump in the air to hit him in the head. ;D
valuev would win.
-
Re: James Toney VS Nicolai Valuev
I think Toney could pull it off, he'd need to be fairly active but if he could still stick and move for 12 he should win, Valuev isn't as much to deal with as PEter, imo.
-
Re: James Toney VS Nicolai Valuev
I would love to see Toney deal with a fighter who has a 13inch reach advantage and a 14inch height atvantage not to mention he weighs 100lbs more.I would pay to see that fight. ;D

Agreed. I dont think Toney is anything like he used to be but its a testament to how little i rate Valuev. I really think he is that poor and that Toney could get under his SLOOWWWW jab and get in enough punches to decision him.

Re: James Toney VS Nicolai Valuev
Valuev is slow and predictable, but Toney is a smal heavyweight and would take a one sided beating
-
Re: James Toney VS Nicolai Valuev
not sure about this one... at first glance the size advantage for the Mongrel would make it seem toney would be laid to rest the same night, however, if toney moved a lot, and went to town on the body, i think he could pull it out.

no toney for years has relied on his natural boxing abiilty to win, but now he's getting on his reflexes are going.

lol agreed even though valuev isnt great by any means he is too tall and too strong for toney and he would wear toney out by leaning on him it would take affect imo anyway

Re: James Toney VS Nicolai Valuev
Toney can't fight Valuev for another year the WBA is still suspending him.

I'm sure they could come to some sort of financial settlement to allow the fight to happen.

Yeh that's the reason this fight won't happen ???
;D

Re: James Toney VS Nicolai Valuev
I honestly think Toney could still chop down Valuev.
-
Re: James Toney VS Nicolai Valuev
Its the hardest fight out there for Toney but i can see him winning...
Nic is far too innactive to take the points...Toney is known for sitting on the ropes to get energy back but he can do that all fight as far as this one is concerned.. Val is asking to be countered and Isnt busy enough to land enougb scoring punches..Thats toneys only down fall..Even toney at his least busy is a threat to scoring against big val.. And if peter can stop toney even after so many rabbit punches..especially with lethal shots like overhand rights..From a mentally heavy puncher.. Then no way valuev stops toney..
Toney can work the body too ..Just watch toney-holyfield and look at how well james uses the left hook to body then head..I see toney emabarrassing and doing big val on points..
Peace

Re: James Toney VS Nicolai Valuev
Well I am amazed.
Had no idea that people thought after the Peter fight that Toney was really still in the mix!
Maskaev i can see, but anyone else.. mind you Briggs looked like sh1t last time out.
I'm sure hoping the big ogre proves all you guys wrong.....VERY wrong.
NOW....no think of a title for my next post...
maybe...."VALUEV worlds best technical boxer".....naa
or "VALUEV the next Ali only better"... maybe.....hey I know
"Valuev....obvious world's greatest P4P!" ya that's it!

No NOT at all
but if your fighting for a contender position and you lose twice, the second time clearly,. YOUR OUT!
I really think that james looked worse than in the first fight and really blew any pretext he had of representing himself as a top heavyweight, never mind a legit contender.
RE the Peter Toney fight:
The Toney/Peter II was the best and worst thing that could have happened to each fighter.
Peter improved Tremendously! Showed a great desire and work ethic in his training, even missing going home for Christmas to train. Erased the controversy of the first fight.
Made EVERYONE fall in love with him by his gracious and humble comments post fight. Showed that he is the best guy to take on the rest of the Heavyweight divison. Came in leaner, increased his punch output, showcased his skills and won the hearts of millions.
Point by point. James Toney did exactly the opposite!
Peter really improved. Erased the dispute about the first fight.
Came in better shape. Toney didn't do himself any favors here at all and the post fight yapping made it worse.
To quote Al bernstein "Peter is on the cuz of becomeing a really complete fighter which many people felt previously was not possible"
and
"Peter showed the world that he is better for the HW division than James Toney"
I fully agree.
IS that clear enough?

Re: James Toney VS Nicolai Valuev
At the same time shouldn't Toney not be out of the Heavyweight picture just because he lost to Peter?

Buddy ...4 fights without a win!!
DQ loss to ruiz
Draw to rahman
NOW 2 losses to Peter
DUDE he's 0-3-1 My record against top heavies is better! I'm 0-0-0
When do I get a titleshot?
-
Re: James Toney VS Nicolai Valuev
the ruiz match was ruled a No contest not a dq. *pictures chris byrd putting up his best efforts and being absolutely demolished by a prime ali* Toney should've won the first peter fight and peter should've been dq'd in the 2nd round of the rematch. I watched the rahman fight and i guess it was a legit draw but i had toney ahead slightly.

I actually agree with your view on those three fights. But I'm pissed off at Toney right now!
He should get down to 190 and show that he wants to train to win and mop up at cruiser, mind you,,,he's got Byrd to contend with down there! That would be a good fight!

Toney would get knock out

Re: James Toney VS Nicolai Valuev
James Toney can beat Valuev IMO...
Ive watched the second Toney: Peter fight a few times now, and I dont think Toney took a beating as some have claimed. He lost the fight because he was outworked by a much younger, stronger fighter. Many of those rounds were extremely close though, and the fight was ultimately sealed with the nature of the first 2 rounds.
There is no way Valuev stops Toney.

Toney didn't win a round from 5 on.
If he was outworked by a bigger stronger Peter He'd be clubbed out by a MUCH bigger stronger Valuev who has a MUCH higher punch output.
If Toney's odd punch that landed couldn't hurt Peter,Valuev might not even notice that Toney had landed.
Toney's only chance of winning is if Valuev is distraced by a female Sasquatch during the bout

This topic is just silly

Valuev is stronger than Peter in what sense? Larger, yes, and heavier but I sure dont think he is as skilled as Peter has become nor does he possess Peters KO power....
Peter's extra flurries towards the end of each round edged a number of what had been very close rounds. Toney may have been outworked but he did land his fair share, they just didnt have the impact that Peters punches could have.
Still no excuses from me, Peter won that fight.
