Yes - another Hatton thread
Very worried about Ricky after last night's fight. His greatest asset has always been his workrate and stamina - being able to fight at pace for 12 rounds. Something is obviously very wrong (or at least was last night) You don't have a corner talking about 'hanging on'after 9 rounds when you have won 7 of them unless they no something is wrong. I saw a weakness in Ricky's body that I haven't seen before and I think that Urango could've really capitalized on that coz no doubt Ricky was really hurt in the 5th.
I had Urango winining rounds 5 & 9 and gave him a shout in 11 & 12, but Hatton still won clearly - just worried if he comes up against somebody with an offence if his stamina is shot. Hopefuly he can correct this, but it's 2 fights in a row now that he has had to hang on at the end.
That said a clear victory and another belt ;)

Re: Yes - another Hatton thread
i think heel be ok no big deal i just think he was in pain from the 5th and on
-
Re: Yes - another Hatton thread
never see the fight but from what people are saying it seems he was running out of gas after 6th and was hurt by body shots he should avoid cotto then in future ;)
-
Re: Yes - another Hatton thread
yea he was definitely hurt by body shots on round 6th, urango kept attacking the body he look smart on round 6th it look like he figure out hatton, but afterwards urango just got lazy but he made hatton look drain by those body shots, then came in the hatton hugging.
I gone lost interest in hatton, cotto is the better fighter.

Big deal, another belt. Who's Urango? Nobody and untested.
The win was supposed to be a talor made fight for Hatton.
A gimme fight, belt, and showing on HBO.
America has ruined Hatton, hahaha. As it has so many other people! ;D haha

Re: Yes - another Hatton thread
I believe Hatton was listening to his trainer. Nothing wrong in what he did, just what he was taught. It's a good strategy, and JLC proved it the only way to catch Mayweather for this kind of fighter.
-
Re: Yes - another Hatton thread
I saw a couple of weigh in photos and Hatton did look a little gaunt - like he'd lost weight in a hurry.
From all reports (I didn't see the fight) he did look ragged down the stretch.
I'm still backing him to put Castillo away though.
-
Re: Yes - another Hatton thread
I wasn't troubled by Hatton's performance. He showed vulnerability to the body, but that's nothing unique. My problem with him is that he holds too much. He seems like he's better than that.

42-0 - World champion - made $2 Million and lined up for a fight with Castillo - not exactly ruined ???

Re: Yes - another Hatton thread
was graham right to suggest hatton hold on if he knew hatton had it in the bag? billy aint no popstar style ytrainer, hes down to it straight! no fucking about, if he thought it was safer to hang on then that would overcome his urge to tell ricky toput it on the line. Having said that would the hatton of old hung on? maybe he is like tyson and frazier before him, finished before 30

Re: Yes - another Hatton thread
Once the fight was in the bag Graham was making sure Hatton didn't lose sight of the the bigger picture...Castillo = big £££ ;)

Re: Yes - another Hatton thread
I'd like to think that too mate, but thats Grahams protocal when things start going belly up. There seemed a level of panic in there as well but I couldnt catch everything they said due to the two muppets commentating.
Hatton boxed his head off for four rounds and then it went pear shaped, in his words he took his foot of the gas. To get him back on track Graham didnt say get back to how you were fighting a couple of rounds ago, he said grab him. Still baffled as to why that was.
Edit: Graham could definately be heard saying "we'll get through this, it happens to everyone" ???

Re: Yes - another Hatton thread
I thought Graham was going over the top but maybe there's more to it :-\
I just assumed the thought of losing out on some serious pound notes set the panic off in Graham ;D
-
Re: Yes - another Hatton thread
that shouldn't happen in a professional corner.

I read in one of the papers today that Hatton thought he had broken a rib and was struggling with that. Looked to be caused y the body shots in round 5.

I wouldn't be surprised, I thought that during the fight, butwould've thought he would've mentioned it in the post fight interview. If he did damage a rib, he did amazingly well to continue as anybody who has ever hurt their ribs (like me) will understand.

Re: Yes - another Hatton thread

Probably right mate
The rib punches definitely did damage and he definitely didn't look right from that point onwards.

Re: Yes - another Hatton thread
"A left hook caught me under the ribs and two rounds later it was still hurting. On the scorecards it looked like a bit of landslide, but he was one of the most hurtful fighters I have faced. My sides are a bit sore. He was the first opponent who has given me a really sustained body attack. I may have looked like I was boxing his ears off but he kept pushing a haymaker off, and I can tell you they hurt."
Castillo's gonna love that.

Lol - probably not the best thing for him to be telling everybody ;)

Re: Yes - another Hatton thread

Oh, his future has been set, ever since he signed that nice HBO deal.
I just expect him to continue to be the Mini-Joe Frazier I've always seen and hoped of him.
Thats a HHHUUUUUGGGEE compliment to Hatton's style and force.
But he was NO Frazier in his last fight. Very disappointing IMHO.

i don't think it matters if he had said this, because it was very obvious he was hurt by body shots, hatton was almost jumping of the canvas to get a lift to avoid the body shots. i knew urango could hurt him, suck urango wasn't smart enough to keep going after hattons body after the six round.
to me that was too straight of hattons fight that he could of lost. and urango isn't close to elite atleast not yet, and if he would of just kept punishing the body, hatton would of been finish or atleast in huge trouble.
