Unless he changes nationality he wont get any respect on here from some of the posters. they cant come to terms with a british fighter being any good. Their brains just wont process it.
Even if hatton was a 12 weight world champion at the age of 95 and still unbeaten they will slag him off.

^ That statement is true of ALL boxers ^
Anyway, yes I will give a lot of respect to Hatton IF he beats Castillo, but it goes both ways right, if Castillo beats Hatton, it's not like people are going to respect the victory, there will be things like "Looks like that lifestyle finally caught up with Ricky", "It was an off-night", "Castillo got away with too many low-blows (that one will probably be true)", "It was a hometown decision"
Let me go on record saying this: "Kudos to Ricky for even taking this fight, win or lose he has gained my respect for taking it."

ha ha ha nah to be fair to people here im sure they will do.

Re: will hatton get the credit if he beats castillo ??
i'll give a great deal of respect to whom ever wins.
I don't think either fighter is washed up, and this up and coming fight will bring out the ebst of them in quite a few years. I expect hatton to stay in shape and really work on it now, there is no time for him to let him self go so there should be no reasons for that.
Castillo, we all know he didn't look to good in his last outing, but like many champions who have been in some superstr fights, its hard to get your self up for to face someone as unrespected as herman was (even though he is more respected now)
doubt it goes the distance, but i think it will be a rbill fight and alot of respect to both fighters.
-
Re: will hatton get the credit if he beats castillo ??
It all depends on the nature of the fight... Neither man looked great last week.
I think we all expect both men to try to be the boss in there.
The fight needs to be a hard fight, won by a hard man in order for the winner to get some real credit.
-
Re: will hatton get the credit if he beats castillo ??
Ill guarantee now that should hatton win then at least 15 different posters on here will say Castillo is past it and is an old man. Hatton only fights old fighters.

I think that's cuz there ain't many British fighters that are any good. But anyway, as for the question. Yes if by some miracle Hatton beats Castillo, than I'll give him his credit. I don't consider Castillo a shot fighter. So a win over him would be very impressive. But by win, i mean a convincing win. Not no "Collazo-type loss, turned into win by bribe taking judges" win. I mean a real win. Knock out or convincing points win.

I will remember this, Violent Demise! ;D You seem a person that sticks by what they say. I do think Hatton will beat Castillo by mixing boxing skills and a little trading. Hatton will be working on a plan to minimise any body attack. Castillo has his work cut out. I dont think it will be a war.

Re: will hatton get the credit if he beats castillo ??
Hopefully on June they both give the fans a great fight. But I gotta say Hatton really dissappointed on this fight. I thought he was supposed to be tough as nails. Can't blame him though. I think if he would have put 'em up with Urango he would have eventually got knocked out. Did you hear his corner?? "Come on just get pasted these last few rounds....." while the hitman was panting and heaving.
You guys, don't get your hopes up about Ricky the Hypeman Hatton I dread he will lose against Castillo because of his killer attack on the body which happens to be Hattons weak spot.
Theres still Calzaghe! ;)

That's entirely up to Hatton.
Let him fight for 12 rounds and we'll see. If he does I'll even respect him when he gets knocked out.

Hatton has plenty in the tank to take Castillo! Hatton looked more impressive than Castillo last weekend... ::**

Re: will hatton get the credit if he beats castillo ??
I doubt it especially if he has a hard time with Castillo, as Ndogu or whatver his name is gave JLC a tough go of it.
I think it'll be a battle though, Ricky NEEDS to KO JLC or Chico Corrales!!!
-
Re: will hatton get the credit if he beats castillo ??
I was impressed with Hattons Boxing ability... A Wins, A Win no matter what and Ricky beat him quite convicingly, I had been increasingly getting interested in Hatton and now I gotta say I'm a fan, the kids got guts and heart not to mention a real class act..... I am a Castillo fan 1st though and if they both fight to a shite level then we are in for a long nite.. JLC has a bad habit similiar to Calzaghe were he fights to the level of his opposition, so its tough to guage were he is at performance wise, I suspect Castillo will be full of piss and vinegar for this fight, he has an anvil for a chin and I think Jose will wear Ricky out before Hatton wears him out I gotta pick JLC by 10rd stoppage... Just a gut and feeling in my heart of hearts
-
Re: will hatton get the credit if he beats castillo ??
Is that all you have to say miles??? Look, it is a chance for BOTH of them to prove themselves in the sport of Boxing. I just think Hatton doesn't have enought to cut it.
-
Re: will hatton get the credit if he beats castillo ??
good points made all round i think this fight is toss up i really couldnt pick a winner both men got to the body well both have good chins and both cut easily its really a toss up imo because fight could easily be stopped on cuts both ways and its kind of fight which could go either way so like i said its 50-50 fight i cant pick a winner
-
Re: will hatton get the credit if he beats castillo ??
I cant work out why anyone thinks this will be even close. JLC doesnt have that much left to offer, his tank is empty. RH will beat him by AT LEAST 4 rounds, even possibly a late stoppage. NO WAY does Hatton lose this fight. Castillo is good for about 4 rounds against RH and thats it. Its not 2001, Castillo gets hammered.

You know in the back of my head I think that's definetly possible... Castillo looked like he's on the slide on saturday, no doubt... But then I think, even if that were the case and he can't manage to fight much better then that, Hatton still gassed out badly in the late rounds in his fight, there's NO WAY he can afford to do that against Castillo. Hatton was basically able to tie up and coast through the last 4 rounds against urango, and by the sounds of his corner he may have been in trouble if he had been made to fight hard those rounds.. THat's what Castillo can make him do, for sure.. His body attack will still be there and Hatton can't take any rounds off in this fight, or he'll pay HUGE.

I would agree with that.....Castillo is a proven and dangerous fighter...a good fight for Hatton to lose the "0"....

As an American I have all the respect for Ricky since he is the true 140 pound champion, and was before his last fight having won the title against KT and never giving it up. A win over Castillo would just be icing on the cake for him in my book......Jody

Yeah totally agree. But I think Hatton only gassed because he was inactive for too long. If he comes into the fight fit, like in the old days (2 years ago) I cant see him getting beat. The body shots could well be a problem for him though..

The only thing I agree with is that it won't be close. For people to think Castillo doesn't have much is just plain stupid. Castillo won his last fight because he was able to step it up and take the last rounds. Pretty impressive for a man who's been through the wars he's been through. How does that make his tank almost empty? If anything it was Hatton who transformed into John Ruiz. And that was after only one round of taking shots to the body. Imagine what Castillo is going to do to that body? It won't be pretty. That pale white skin is going to get marked up. Castillo by 5th round knock out.
-
Re: will hatton get the credit if he beats castillo ??
If ricky works out whatever stamina problem he seems to be having and does a shitload of crunchesto thighten that body , it's a toss up fight, otherwise it's a knock out win for castillo.
-
Re: will hatton get the credit if he beats castillo ??
Alot of people will say Castillo was shot if Hatton beats him.Just because he has had alot of wars and didnt look good against Ngoudjo, and it was Castillos first fight at 140 even tho he coulnt make the lower weight anymore. It doesnt mean he is shot.
-
Re: will hatton get the credit if he beats castillo ??
Are we having SIG or CC bets Killer and VD because even though I want JLC to win,I still think Hatton will win it. As for respect, both deserve respect for taking the fight and the winner will get respect from all true boxing fans, these are 2 true warriors. I just DO NOT want to see Hattons spoil the fight with constant holding.

Re: will hatton get the credit if he beats castillo ??
hatton will hold in this fight because thats just the way he fights. he takes a quick breather and saps some of his opponents energy by leaning on them, so you might aswell expect the holding right now. but its still gonna be a tear up that could go either way. i just reckon hatton might be a bit to busy for castillo if hatton's on his a game and ricky won't let castillo get away with anything. well excited for this though

Re: will hatton get the credit if he beats castillo ??
In answer to the title, Hatton will not get much credit for beating Castillo no matter how he does it IMO. Already the 'Castillo is washed up' talk has started so no I seriously doubt it will change any opinions of his haters critics.

Depends on how he beats him. I think Hatton has as much of a chance at beating Castillo as he does at winning a beauty contest. ::** Can't see it happening. If Hatton beat Castillo in convincing fashion without all of the holding and illegal crap, I would definitely give him his props.

when (or if) hatton wins i think a lot of people might play the same card as they did after the tszyu fight. saying shit like he was past his best and had this injury and that injury.

Boxing ain't a beauty contest mate...
Anyway if he uses illegal 'crap' people should blame the referee for letting him get away with it. I remember people saying "He wont be able to do that shit if he comes to the states" after the Tszyu fight.

Yeah, I hear you, Kel. Just making a stupid joke, mate. I've only seen the Collazo fight over here in the States and I really wasn't impressed with his performance. From the majority of the people that I've heard from, it sounded like he dominated Urango.
Tszyu was one of my favorite fighters at the time and I really thought that was a B.S. fight. But lets not get started on that one. It's in the past now. If he could dominate Castillo, I would really have to re-evaluate my opinion on him.
Strangely, I was a big Hatton fan early on. I loved his work-rate and body attack and really thought he was quite good. I thought the Magee fight was hilarious. He just had the guy in the corner all night and busted up his body.

Do you think he could dominate Castillo like he did Kostya? I think Ricky will be as fired up for the fight as he was the KT fight, I also think Castillo shines in the big fights and because Castillo hardly ever takes a step back I think this will be one hell of a fight.

It's difficult to say. Castillo is very well-rounded and has a ton of ring grit. That being said, Hatton has to be mindful of Castillo's power. The guy packs a helluva punch. I think if he makes it an inside fight and keeps his arms up he has a fighting chance. He's older and allot more experienced now. If he could actually beat Castillo, it would be a very significant milestone for him.

Depends on how he beats him. I think Hatton has as much of a chance at beating Castillo as he does at winning a beauty contest. ::** Can't see it happening. If Hatton beat Castillo in convincing fashion without all of the holding and illegal crap, I would definitely give him his props.
Boxing ain't a beauty contest mate...
Anyway if he uses illegal 'crap' people should blame the referee for letting him get away with it. I remember people saying "He wont be able to do that shit if he comes to the states" after the Tszyu fight.
Believe it or not I actually want to see Hatton try that illegal shit against Castillo and see what happens

I think both guys know what they are gettin in to, which will probably make the fight even better. If either one tries some illegal stuff they know what they are getting back, they may as well just concentrate on keeping it all legal, and they both know this!

Hatton v. Castillo...
Castillo might be washed up. Honestly, this fight should have happened when Ricky moved up to 147. It was already obvious that Castillo could not make 135 anymore. IMO, he may have damaged himself by trying to get down there again.
