Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Pavlik & Arce's fights
Well my brothers & sisters...wer'e back up in the mix again with yet another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds!
This time wer'e hitting the mat with a late night doubleheader that cranks up around 10ish. You guessed it...it's HBO's Boxing After Dark live at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
Commenting ringside for the event will be "Wacko's beloved" Max Kellerman, the utterly annoying Fran Charles, and former undisputed fat cat Lennox Lewis. I know that everyone pretty much hates that line-up...but if a sniper could pick off ole' Franny & sub in someone...anyone...I'd be pleased. Heh heh heh.
No seriously...contact me...any ole' sniper will do...mental or not. ;) ;D
Be that as it may...let's get down to brass tax because I got end of the month paperwork to do at the job...so I gotta turn the heat up fast! That being said:
The opening bout of the night features fast rising, undefeated middleweight sensation Kelly Pavlik (29-0 with 26 ko's) as he puts his undefeated record on the line against lightly regarded mexican Jose Luis Zertuche (19 wins, 3 losses, 2 draws, & 14 ko's) in a scheduled 10-round middleweight best of. Pavlik has been making waves in the middleweight ocean for quite sometime now & his skills seem to be improving...couple that with his high knockout ratio and we could be looking at the next super champ...then again...this is boxing...& we could be looking at the next big bust. Who's to say.
To my limited knowledge of his opponent, Zertuche has been known as a brawler & that pretty much plays into Pavlik's shooting off the backfoot style. " "Come to fighers" play right into Pavlik's hands. If the gent's looking for an upset...me thinks that he's sadly mistaken.
Pavlik by middle round TKO.
Now!!!! Drumroll please!!!! Here's what I've been looking forward to for quite sometime...another Arce main event!
Yeah yeah yeah...sure it's not the greatest opponent to take on...but once again, the former two division champion Jorge Arce (45 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw, & 35 ko's) is bringing the pride of Mexico back to HBO.
This Saturday night Arce takes on tuff but lightly regarded Julio Ler (23 wins, 1 loss, & 14 ko's) of Argentina in a 12 round super featherweight contest. Fight after fight, Arce puts an exclamation point on why he is considered one of the most exciting fighters in the sport today. Pretty much every fight that he's in is matted with blood or fighters counting light bulbs.
Let's hope that this one rolls out the same way. Arce by late TKO.
Sorry to have to rush through this one feller's...but work is work & typing don't pay the bills.
We shall see...as always...break out the chips & salsa & pick your poison of choice! So pops some tops & tilt a few back for ole' Wacko...it's fight night!!!
Cheers & koneecheewah bitches.

:coolclick: Agreed on the highlight.
Somebody's gettin their plow cleaned on this night!
I see a few people have viewed & several have even voted...but where the fwock's the comments?
What? No love for Arce or Pavlik? Do ya's just not know?

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Pavlik & Arce's fights
I would like to see Pavlik step up against better opposition so we can see how much he truly has improved. His boxing skills have seemed to improved (from highlights I have seen) but with his power he always has a punchers chance against whomever.
Arce, what else is there to say about him that hasnt already been said??
cc wacko, THE BEST DRbR on the net

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Pavlik & Arce's fights
Looking forward to it. CC
Both Pavlik and Arce need to step it up though after these fights, Arce's opposition hasn't exactly been murderer's row lately. But he's always fun to watch.

Arce cracks me up, everytime I see him, I think, god this guy CANNOT box, and then he just goes tazmanian devil and shit, very entertaining.

Agreed. Pavlik has all the tools...but he's being handled a bit too...kid-i-ly.
Thing is...it's a double edged sword with me. He's not fighting complete bums...but even Duddy (whom I do not rate) stepped up & fought a vet when he matched his raw power against Yory Boy. Pavlik is a much much much more complete fighter than many think. I've followed him for quite sometime...not to say that I know the guy back & front...but I likes what I see.
Only thing that bothers me is his inactivity. He's not been fighting as often as some of the other champs & contenders...for example Abraham, Sturm, & Miranda.
The big thing about Pavlik is that he does have power & he does know how to throw his punches in bunches...I just hope that he aint taking this guy lightly. I don't know shit about him...admittedly...but his record aint bad...then again...it aint all that either.
Lately...alot of up & coming second tier fighters are proving to be more than bargained for & upsets seem to be budding around every corner.
Urango, Collazo, Taylor, & others keep on shocking the world by throwing out good shots against the veterans & stars.

Agreed. That "lollipop kid" shit is just that...the shit. I love it. There's very little uniquness and originality left in this world...that kid hit the nail on the head & he's got heart & fists to boot...sorry...but I'm 100% in his corner. I aint ashamed to admit that I was late coming on to the Arce train...but win lose or draw...I'm riding it to the end.
He brings fun back to the sport...nothing like a blood drooling cowboy hat wearing lollipop chewin Mexican half pint warrior to rejuvenate the game. ;D

Damn right...Wacko's wasted...been painting the bedroom & den to match the new $3899 worth of furniture that the wife slammed me with! :-X

Agreed on all of the above 100%. I'm looking forward to both fights...but yeah...they need to step up...Arce more than Pavlik though. Know what I mean?

Yeah...but you really think that he can't box?
Honestly...I say that the kid can scrap...he's just so gotdam awkward...just like you said... tazmanian devil & all. Hillarious. I woulda never thought to classify him as such...but he does indeed remind me of one. I still can not get the Hussein fight outta my head.
It was on during a Pac fight I think...I know I covered it...but here's the thing...I was mega deeeeeeeeeeee-runk (not that I'm proud of it ;D ) & as soon as the 2nd round started cranking out...I sobered up reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeal quick (not that I'm proud of it ;D ).
No shit...that kid was all over Hussein...& I had picked Hussein to win...why? Who the fwock knows...but after that fight...I've never bet against Arce & have relished the opportunity to see him again.
Beautiful fight...odd thing is...I aint into brawlers...I'm more of a techie kinda boxer...but for some reason...Arce has always struck a chord with me.
Oh well...watch him come in lightly & fwockin lose. It's the Wacko curse...I shit you not...I could probably pick 'em into retirement if I tried. ;D

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Pavlik & Arce's fights
If Pavlik is really was hes said to be by his followers he should be able to stop Zertuche no later then rd. 5.
Zertuche is as hitable as a beach ball. ;) He'll stand there dead squared in front of Pavlik.
I also voted Arce by TKO, late rds. like the 7th that sounds like a good number.... :)
Fights taking place right in my backyard, almost..... :)

CC. Agree about the Pavlik thing. From what I hear he will be thrown to the wolves after this fight anyway. Than and only than will we really know how good this kid really is!

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Pavlik & Arce's fights
I thought I replied to this already. Guess not.
Haven't seen Zertuche, but Pavlik is pretty good. He is pretty solid on offense fundamentally, with a very sharp straight right hand. He also has a very sneaky left hook which he times beautifully. When he puts the two together in succession it's a beautiful thing. It should be a coming out party of sorts for Pavlik because from what I've heard Zertuche is made for him.

No doubt Zertuches got heart, but he lack major skill.
I kinda' know him quick story about him.....
His nickname is 'El Elotero' this name is given to street vendors who sell corn on the cob. He used to sell them in the large apartment complex that I grew up in, in East L.A. his names translates to like "The Corn Man".... Cool guy really, he wasn't my close friend or anything but yeah! thats him....

We'll see what what happens when Pavlik fights someone who makes him dig deep down, alter his style, make adjustments, and show heart. I know you don't rate Duddy, he's far ahead of where Pavlik was at 18 fights. He KO'd in 1 round Pavlik's last opponent in his 8th fight.
I saw something in the Campas fight that chanced my opinion on Duddy. For the first 5 rounds, he tried to walk through Yory Boy like he's walked through everyone else. Then he figured out that needed to dust off his abandoned boxing skill that's he's not been using. He hasn't needed them, not until Yory Boy fought him like a man possessed. People say Duddy don't have skill, but if you what the 2nd have of the Campas fight, he shows he has some skills.

Agreed...Duddy is ahead...but not that far. I want to see Pavlik fight someone with a heart beat also.
I think that Pavlik's riding high on a mediocre record...same goes for Duddy also. Duddy has power & all that...but it's just what you like & how you like your boxing. I like a little more technical skills than just the stand & brawl will of Duddy. There's nothing wrong with that...I just like a little more brilliance than batter.
Don't get me wrong...Duddy is exciting...because you just never know what your'e gonna get or when your'e gonna get it from him.

Indeed...I was impressed with how Duddy handled Campas at the end...thing is...Yory Boy is a bit of a spent fighter these days & he held pretty strong against Duddy. Duddy has skills...he's just a bit unrefined.
I think that he needs to be marketed a bit carefully in the future. Same could be said for Pavlik...we shall see.

Agreed. Yory Boy is a bit spent, but he showed up that night to win, spent or not, and even spent, Campas is better than anyone Pavlik has faced. Don't get me wrong, I like Pavlik and I hope that he's for real. From what I've seen of him, he looks good, but it bothers me a little so someone with his kind of record has only one decent opponent. As someone who likes Pavlik, I'm a little scared that if he gets a "megafight" after Zertuche, the jump up will be too much for him. It's like a baseball pitcher who dominates A-ball, skips AA and AAA and ends up in the bigs (i'm sure there is a soccer equivant to the minor leagues, for my british friends :). The jump is too much, and he might never recover. I think Duddy's handlers are doing a good job of bringing him up one notch at a time. Pavliks people wasted a lot of time building up his record against crappy jobbers.

:coolclick: Good post. Well spoken.
As I said above...all the middles seem to have several little flaws here & there that add up to big things.
I want to see Pavlik go on to bigger & better things...but like you...I got me doubts...& you're dead on the head...his people indeed wasted an assload of time building up his record against a buncha turd burglars.

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Pavlik & Arce's fights
Yo wack my man.. Gota few questions for you brother..
One.. Are you or is anyone covering the vanes fight?
And two.. How long till the fights start kicking off now?..Its about ten past 8 in zee evenin over here so im guessin that it'll be another 5 or so hours?
I gota say lads..I love arce.. He's got a great style and i like his sense of humour n stuff too..

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Pavlik & Arce's fights
C.C. for the RBR, man. Unfortunately I'm slumin it with no H.B.O. and I'm a big Pavlik fan. I just really hope he steps it up after this fight and takes on Miranda. They're the two of the most interesting fighters in the M.W. division I.M.O.
-
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Pavlik & Arce's fights
CC for this RBR wack! I love Arce and Pavlik interests me,but as I have not seen much of him,he is somewhat of an unknown quantity. However,as big a fan I am of Arce,he needs to step up his competition this yeat with either the grissly over rated Darchinyan or Matin Castillo. As for Pavlik,I can't really say....may be a steady increase in competition leading to a fight with Miranda?
-
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds Pavlik & Arce's fights
I'm looking forward to this one, 4 hours to go and counting. 2 Nice KO's for Pavlik and Arce IMO.

Yeah he definitely looks weight drained. Don't think it means to much though because the effects of weight draining tend to show in the latter part of the fight. I don't think it even gets that far.

Stamina may not be an issue, but another effect of weight drain is the chin. That could always be real trouble.
