What if this? What if that? How about what if this?
A lot of questions about Hatton are being asked. About his future opponents. His health. His p4p standing. A lot of different things. One of the recent questions was "Will Hatton get the credit if he beats Castillo?" Good interesting question. I guess some people feel Hatton is not getting the respect he deserves and want to know if beating Castillo will earn him that respect. Fine by me. I gave my answer on that thread. But it lead me to ask my own question.
How will Hatton be looked at if Castillo stops him in, lets say 2 rounds? Controversy free.
Will these Hatton groupies admit that Hatton was always overrated? Or will they make fools of themselves by making silly excuses? How will the boxing world look at him?
-
Re: What if this? What if that? How about what if this?
If he gets beaten easy (like in 2 rounds) then ill be the first to hold my hands up and say he just isnt good enough.

Was asking vd.. hence why i quoted him...

Re: What if this? What if that? How about what if this?
You, VD, have admitted that you will give Hatton props if he wins in a style that deserves such an accololade....
If Castillo drops him in 2, I will be very surprised, but its always a possibility. I wouldnt make any excuses about that. Castillo is a fine fighter with a proven track record.
I just think he has struggled big time against a no name, been on long layoffs and has has weight issues. Arguably he is stepping out of his depth. Hatton looked fine until his corner reigned him in. And against a big monster too! Despite what you say VD, who is knocking out Urango? ;D I for one did not expect Hatton to knock out Urango.
You thought he should but I think you were in the minority. You will be in the minority of a Castillo fight too. Good Luck!! ;D

No. I feel Castillo will beat him. But that's not the point. Hatton seems to be viewed very highly by the British people. To high in my opinion. The Castillo fight is a very big fight for him. They want Hatton to get his due respect if he beats him. Fine. What happens if he doesn't beat him? What happens if he loses easily? How will you, Preme look at Hatton if he gets destroyed by Castillo in 2 rounds?

I don't want to know why it happened. I want personal opinions. How will miles look at Hatton? Was he overrated? Over-hyped? Just not good enough? What?

Yeah however i really dont see that happening at all. Im favouring a Castillo win slighty becuase i dont think we will see the Hatton that faught Tsyzu unless he fights Mayweather which frankly aint happening.

I will say Hatton was underrated by a certain group on this site. I dont think he loses to Castillo. I think at this stage in their careers Castillo is almost brought to the stage as the older man making way for the new generation...
Castillo has a punchers chance, but I really dont see a slug fest...

A puncher's chance??? You're talking like Hatton is just miles better than Castillo. If Castillo can put some decent body work in, it will change the fight. JLC has more than a puncher's chance. With his excessive holding, you can bet that the refs will warn Ruiz...ehem...I mean Hatton that they will deduct a point if he continues to clinch.

Re: What if this? What if that? How about what if this?
If that happens RH will quit the sport of boxing, drink endlessly, and balloon up to a heavy weight. Then ten months later he will end his retirement and drop back down to 147 and fight again because he misses the HUGS

So If Hatton gets stopped early, than you will consider him underrated? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. You know after reading this post I actually looked at the name of the poster. This can't be the same miles, who always posts here. That miles has good points and makes good sense. This one just posted complete nonsense.

No, if Hatton is stopped early I will be surprised. Very surprised. But im no fool, I know it could happen. I expect Hatton will follow up knowing he needs to box. Hell he decided that against urango. We all know the danger Castillo posseses. I expect more ranging and using that distance. It wont be a slug fest.
If you really think Im posting nonsense, then fair enough....
But you know im not.

Re: What if this? What if that? How about what if this?
Why is every fighter considered overrated if they get beat? Was Duran overrated for getting beat by Hearns and Hagler? Hearns stopped Duran, so Duran was overrated but then Hagler stopped Hearns so Hearns was overrated, but then Hagler didn't stop Duran???????
If the best fighters are constantly fighting each other they will have wins and losses. JLC has several losses on his record, and he is an outstanding fighter. To every undefeated fighter out there I say one thing.....
Your beating is coming.....
Don't know who is gonna give it, but it's coming unless you quit before you get it, or don't fight competitive fighters. If you stay in the top levels and fight the best you will lose. Look at Hearns, Hagler, Leonard, Duran, they all traded losses to one another. I don't lose any respect for a fighter that takes a loss, only fighters that don't take the risk.

duran had already proven his worth though and had moved up alot from his natrual weight hearns hit like stone and was too tall and too strong thats it
difference is theres still questions on hatton and is unproven against top boys like corrales and castillo mayweather ect im not saying kostya wasnt top level but i think he will get alot more credit for corrales win or castillo win and if he beats mayweather which i think he wont his damn legend period
and duran before hearns fight had gone 15 rounds against one of best middleweights of all time and only losing close decision plus his career went on hell of alot longer difference is with ricky is that he has only got about 4 fights left so if he loses to castillo that quickly no one will be interested in him really and his career will be over

Re: What if this? What if that? How about what if this?
See this is what i hate about fightfans that are so judgemental and want to accuse on fighters..
For one.. A man who has earned two aba titles and 41 undefeated professional fights winning four world titles in the process and one europian or international and another british title is no fraud...
Two i get sick of the doubters.. Hatton stopped tszyu how can anyman who did that be overrated. He gets his just props...
And even if he were to loose and even get stopped i will never admit he is overrated..Because he plain isnt
If anything he's underrated..Alot of fighters havnt made marks and theyr getting fanfare and hatton is not living up to his potential just yet..But hes still winning and still on top and he cant seem to shake the haters..
Its simple..One styles make fights... So he could be sparked in say the fifth by jlc..
And spark cotto and pbf both in the first...
But obv this is not the accurate or thought through prediction to those fights and it wouldnt happen..
But its an example of how two great fighters you could beat a greater fighter in style and loose to a lesser fighter just because of styles and bieng given a rough time...
So in short no..I will never lay down and say hatton is overrated.. Quality speaks for itsself.. and people dont make it to the top without bieng seriously talented and skilled..
And still theres not enough people on that top level that are as humble as hatton..

Interesting comments. I wasn't comparing Hatton to Duran. Just saying in general fighters lose and it doesn't subtract what they did previously. Who cares if someone loses, styles make fights, everyone has bad days, etc.... It is the consistency that matters. James Toney had times when he didn't fight good. People said he was shot, it was just his motivation. Fighters go through that, JLC isn't shot and whoever wins this fight it doesn't make or break their career. You can lose and move on and stay in the top ranks. When you lose consistently, that's a different story.

Hatton needs to utterly dominate Castillo for every round imo to keep face.
And as we say in London.."If my Auntie had bollocks, she'd be my uncle" ;D

ABC titles aren't that hard to get anymore. When a fighter as highly regarded as Hatton is has over 40 fights and only one is against an elite fighter (an aging one at that) how can there not be questions and doubters? Still you gave answer and i give you credit for it.

Re: What if this? What if that? How about what if this?
IF Hatton gets beat by Castillo in two rounds it means Hatton got knocked out in two rounds, nothing more nothing less, this is a pathetic attempt at giving people no option but to say yeah of course he MUST have been overated.
What IF Hatton battered Mayweather in two rounds? Never going to happen but what IF? Does that mean that all Floyd has done counts for nothign as he clearly must have been overated? Of course not.
If Hatton gets stopped in two rounds by ANYONE I will give you cash VD hows that?

:coolclick: for a really REALLY tuff question.
Not sure how to answer it...but I gotta go with my gut & say that he just weren't good enough with upper level opponents...even though he beat Kostya...who...lightning strike me...I for some reason never REALLY got in to.
I like Hatton, I don't love him...I aint a fan by any means...but if he delivers...if he & Castillo have a war ala' Corrales Castillo style...one must admit the kid's good for boxing...hell...he is anyways.
Long as he wins.
He loses respectfully to Castillo... I don't know what I think...he get's snuffed the fwock out...I say he was handled with kid gloves & that had he fought better opposition during the first 30 or 40 fights...he'd be considered the man...but he loses to Castillo?
A bit over hyped.

What bollocks. Are you trying to tell me that anyone other than hardcore Hatton fans will praise him if he goes down fighting against Castillo, who now it seems is shot to pieces? Do me a favour, the knives are being sharpened as we speak just in case. Take a look at the stick he is gettin for WINNING a fight.

How will Hatton be looked at if Castillo stops him in, lets say 2 rounds? Controversy free.
Will these Hatton groupies admit that Hatton was always overrated? Or will they make fools of themselves by making silly excuses? How will the boxing world look at him?
C'mon mi hermano, you know you aren't gonna get a straight answer on this one.
If Castillo wins in two rounds you will see the same posts that you are seeing now.
"Hatton's diet is really getting to him.""Hatton is past his prime." etc. etc.
I don't think anyone on here is gonna change their minds those that love Hatton and
those that Hate Hatton.
If Hatton beats Castillo, I will give him credit.
If Castillo beats Hatton, I will give him credit.
Although after last weekends slackerfest, they are both going to
have to step it back-up to impress me.
I kind of figured that. I guess there's a lot more cowards on this forum than I taught. Can't even an answer a "What if question". Pathetic.

Good to see one of the youngest posters here has the heart and balls to give a straight honest answer. cc

ABC titles aren't that hard to get anymore. When a fighter as highly regarded as Hatton is has over 40 fights and only one is against an elite fighter (an aging one at that) how can there not be questions and doubters? Still you gave answer and i give you credit for it.
cc back mate i know quite few posters dont like you vd but i respect you i like a person that speaks there mind and dont hide anything always interesting to see your posts

Re: What if this? What if that? How about what if this?
Yeh i get you vd my man...
Its all good.. I respect others who want the strait answers and i give the strait answers cos i want them back...
Wbu.. Fair enough the wbu speaks for itself..Although it is in my opinion the highest regarded lower quey title...
I truely beleive that the ibf title ricky took from tszyu was the real deal.. he became the man by beating the man.. Thats where alot of my respect comes from towards ricky.. Because he's shown he's not just there for the title like some fighters have just came and won a paper title and moved on to another wieght class or dropped it for another fight etc..
And granted look at the lww division right now.. Mbaye and witter are title holders.. before witter it was corley..I guy who was just that step below all the top fighters and gave em all a good fight..
and if corley was ever material to have beaten witter.. It would have been knocked out of him by zab and floyd in fights where he wasnt overall embarrassed he did himself justice imo..
PLus raising fourteen quid will tend to drag your mind towards putting food on the table and less for the legacy..
Torres i'll allow..I quite like him and hes a solid fighter.. But hes a little step above a untrodden corley..
I do think the whole over fourty fights and 1 good fighter is bs if im honest though...
List of worthy opponents beaten by hatton..
Eamon magee..Dont know if you checked him out..But i wont have anyone tell me he aint tough as nails..
Ben tackie.. Another bloke that nver made it.. But just a downright bruiser who comes to fight
Vince philips..Maybe not a world beater but hattons intention for as much as two odd years before he actually caught up with kostya was to fight kostya.. And he fought most of these names who were tied in with kostya to prove he was worth the shot.. so phillips since he was the only other man to have beaten him...
And even after having beaten tszyu.. I mean he fought maussa... Lets have it right..Maussa is crap
But he had the title and hatton wanted it..Everybody was saying fight harris but harris lost the title
So maussa it was..
Collazo..I think its fair to say the brooklyn boy is a tough cookie..But hatton won that fight..
And he won last night.. at the end of the day though as long as hatton keeps winning and it safe to say he wants the big names.. We really cant diss him.. And no one is invincible.. Even if he looses No way is he overrated

Dp you actualy think Castillo will stop hatton anywhere close to 2 rounds?
I hada re-ask because i thought this was one of the stupidest questions i have ever seen here... 99% of the world champions today lost inside 2 rounds they would be freaking overhyped! Of course if ricky lost within 2 rounds he would be VASTLY overhyped, if he lost to cotto, mayweather, shit if he lost to de la hoya inside 2 rounds he would be overhyped...
For someone who is forver giving other meber sof the forum grief for liking fighters you hate, caliming how you enjoy mkaing them look silly, or telling them about thier grabage posts i expected a hell of alot better for you...
If you done a What if castillo easily outpoints hatton with a 10-2 or 8-4, would he be over hyped? or what if he stopped him by the 6th round or 8th round, would he be ovehyped
Personally if hatton losses on points by more than 3 rounds he is overhyped IMO

Killer Sheep
That sums it up nicely. I'd just add that Hatton needs to beat Castillo handily to gain respect. Castillo can win ugly and still walk away with respect cause everyone expects Hatton to latch on to him and never let go.

Big difference. You see Castillo has paid his dues and earned his respect by taking dangerous fights and beating name fighters. Hatton got his hype because he's British. If he was an American and got the attention he got you same people that damn near worship him would be tearing him to shreds. Let me try and break this down for you even more. Since it's obvious your lagging behind the rest of the forum. Since Saddo doesn't have a remedial section to put you in, I got to do it here. Ready?
Casper-looking fighter no good
But certain people think Casper-looking fighter good
Casper-looking fighter no like tough fights
So Casper-looking fighter never lose fights
Certain people say "yea" and clap hands when Casper-looking fighter always beat weak fighters
Certain people get carried away and say Casper-looking fighter the best
Casper-looking fighter got tough fight coming up
What certain people going to think if Casper-looking fighter get destroyed in fight?
Now the you understand the question, Preme? Or do I have to use visual aids next time?

Re: What if this? What if that? How about what if this?
If Casper looking fighter really no good, Casper looking fighter get destroyed by Tszyu.
If Casper looking fighter really no good, Casper looking fighter not win plenty shiny belts.
If Casper looking fighter not want tough fights, Casper looking fighter stay home where it safe.
I can send you that in braille or audio CD format if you like.

Funny how that only occured to people once he had been brutalised by Hatton, the same fate awaits Jose Luis too I suspect, he's already being called shot.

Muhammad Ali lot to Trevor Berbwick, but he was not overrated for beating Foreman, Frazier and Liston
Hatton beat Tszyu, so can never be overrrated regardless of what happens from now on!!
He can only be 'not as good' as he was in the Tszyu fight

I don't dog Hatton or praise him but I do know one thing....Castillo ain't no Kostya Tszyu who was not at his best,,He ain't Vivian Harris or Ben Tackie......Caltillo will fight toe to toe for the whole fight if need be. And Ricky can't pull that hit and hold up crap he did with Urango...JLC is a vetern who knows how to rough you up on the inside and cause more damage there then from a distance....We will have our questions answered either way when they fight....
If he loses to JLC there is no shame in that...JLC is respected and has been in with the best..Like many others I thought he won his Mayweather bout...What I will lok for from Hatton is if he loses how wil he bounce back?...Train and come back harder and better of fade away like many hyped up fighters.....It is not the loss that tell you about a fighter it is how he handles it
