Fun fun...here we go. Discussion discussion discussion.

Castillo really dissapointed me in this fight, two words I would use to describe him in this fight would be LAZY and CONSERVATIVE. Ngoudjo impressed me, he was really trying to press the action, but it looked to me that he needed to pace himself a little more, he could have swept those last three rounds if he hadn't tired.
I honestly thought, sitting here piss drunk @ 12:40 in the a.m. (shit I gotta be @ work in 4 hours when all is said & done...did I mention that I was wasted?) Anywho...as I was saying...I truly believe that Castillo lost.
I thought Ngoudjo did just enough to win...but he'd have had to knock Castillo out to get a win...too much money was on the line in a future mega-match.
I don't know...Castillo just seemed to be the more ineffective fighter. The 12th is what saved him down the stretch, but just barely, IWO. Ngoudjo ended up coming on at the latter of the 12th...then again...compubox is another thing that gave Castillo a proven edge. Thing is...to me...& this is in, YES, another drunken state...that Castillo was just too sluggish & ineffective for my likings. Waaaaaaaaaaay too much unnecessary holding & Ngoudjo seemed to be the one doing the backing up. Lazy & Conservative is a great description.
The 12th almost sealed it for him, IWO, & yes indeed Ngoudjo did impress. At 29 seconds of the 12th when Ngoudjo came on against the ropes...I honestly thought that it was all over. Hell of a fight...but not exactly what I wanted to see...as much slugging as there was...there was just not method to it.
I would have liked the idea of a draw better than Ngoudjo losing his title. They could have still had the Hatton Castillo fight...but no...they had to bunghole the poor Cameroon Canadian. Oh well...I've seen worse.
Castillo (63 fights, 55 wins with 47 ko's, 7 losses, & 1 draw)

Ricky did the right thing, but for the casual boxing fan this was his chance to show the world "12 ROUNDS OF NON-STOP ACTION" which was not the case. I can appreciate a smart fight, just like when Mayweather put on a master-class against Baldomir, but all-in-all boxing is in the entertainment industry and casual fans that watch boxing want
to see bloodbaths.
Bloodbaths don't do shit for me...that's just UFC garbage. Very surprised that your friends didn't dig the Hatton showing. Oh well...to each his or her own.
Do you think that that's what it's come to for casual fans now? Just blood & guts or disappointment?
Not me babe. I like the science of it. I loved Mayweather Baldo, Judah, Gatti, & Mitchell & so on & so on. Tactical brilliance does a lot more for me than what Hatton or Castillo brings to the table. That being said...Hatton just cracked the fwock outta Urango & then ate a huge left hook from the Colombian Iron Twin Urango.
Something I just caught...Urango was calm, cool, & collected in close...& he hurt Hatton to the body at around :06 seconds of the first match. Hatton grimaced & fired a combo right back...but honestly Urango seemed unbothered.
I have no quams admitting that I owe Urango an apology now. The kid was in it to win it & he fired hard. Still impressed & this is my 3rd or 4th viewing & this is only the second round. He caused Hatton to clench the most that I have ever seen. Hatton ate a huge left hook from Urango somwe where around 20 seconds of the 2nd round & it shocked him. Kinda stopped him in his tracks & then he immediately regained his bearings & fired off a left hook.
I'm in the 3rd now & Urango has cracked Hatton's jaw twice...he felt it too. Hatton's throwing a lot of wild shots.
Christ I hate to do this...but let me pull a CuteMick...gay it up & out meself to everyone: Limited as they both are...I like Hatton & Urango after this fight.
The decision was correct...Urango was just over matched...but he's goign to be somebody in the future...this was to much a step up for Urango & it was too soon. He did good though. He closed the gap & made everyone in Hatton's corner bite their nails on their hands & feetsees...again...not to be confused with feces. :puke:
Great fight...I think we were all just expecting an easy night.Memph was right...but I aint :coolclick: n ya for another 24 hours.

I agree...Castillo & Hatton both took their respective fighters a tad to lightly. It will be a ruff fight...but I truly believe that Hatton is fast enough & hard enough...& if he shows skills like he did against Urango in the first 3-5 rounds...Castillo is fwocked!
Go Ricky!!!! I'd love to see him conquer Castillo...even though my guy did it years ago when he was in much better physical condition & quite possibly in his prime. Go FLoyd!!!!
Oh yeah...you knows I had to bring my guy into the picture.

Castillo beats Hatton - Castillo shows he can still fight when he feels like it.
Damn right. Castillo was in the fight against Ngoudjo...no doubt...he just wasnt 100%. I think that he'll show up much much MUCH more invigorated & energized against Hatton. Hatton tends to bring out the will of other fighters...then he just seems to crush 'em.
Yep...I've borrowed a career set from one of me chums & I think that the kid has the goods...in fact...I know that he has...that being said...he still aint a favorite...& he aint the second coming as most Brit's think...but he's got my respect...as bad as that probably sounds to his fans & him...it aint. The kid can fight...but I have my favorites & that is that. You don't just get handed the belts & praise the he has garnered...you work for it...& you earn it. RESPECT!!!

Not sure about that...in fact...I totally gotta disagree.
I think that maybe both men were just adjusting to the weight...Hatton & Castillo, I mean. Truly though...Ngoudjo is a scrapper...maybe a bit like the old Hatton & Hatton could get to Castillo's body pretty well...it's done. I truly believe that he kicks the shit outta Castillo...& I WILL CREDIT HIM FOR THE WIN!!!!
Save this link or write that shit down. Heh heh heh

Babe...one thing...never apologize for rambling because it always equates to discussions & discussions are a grand thing in this house...specially when the wife is on the snooze & I'm sittin up pounding liquor drinks on a work night. You answered the question...but opened it up some more...let's chat...EVERYONE!!!!!
Besides that...I just rambled on like a mother fwocker.
Holy christmas...I'm gonna pay for this in the morn. :drunks: Cheers.
Anywho, I brought this back to the top. Pinned it for a few days & dropped the DRBR because I want to discuss this...I stayed up extra late to rewatch the fights one more time on HBO.
I still don't get the criticism on Hatton's end...and sounding like a broken record...I just can't believe that I am defending a fighter to the end...specially one that I don't favor that much.
I think that he done fine. He did what he had to do after gettin his ribs cracked to fwock by Urango...someone else that I have to give respect to. My outlook on boxing changed a bit this weekend.
That being said...Castillo lost his fight & got a gimmee. That's just me.
Let's get sticky for a few days & discuss this...there are plenty of other threads out there...but I wanna know what's what with everyone else.
Body sy shot at 31 seconds by Urango...hurt Hatton. Backed him off. The 5th is about to come on...that's where the shot comes in that changes the fight...I'll try to spot it. Cheers bitches...& koneecheewah...also...I might add...I aint trying ot steal anyone else's thunder on the same subject...just wasted & whatnted to get this underway.
2:40 to the stomach
Hatton's head hunting.
2:18 to the belly once agian & Hatton doubled over.
1:50 another Urango body shot hurts Hatton.
1:37 just folded Hatton like a lawn chair.
Hatton's hurt as Urango goes head hunting effectively.
Impressed with Urango. Hatton bavckcing up.
Another Urango body shot. Hatton is pretty slow now.
Left hook up top by Hatton followed by an upper & Urango keeps on coming.
Nice.
Bell...nice work from Urango. If anyone can't see that he hurt Hatton in the fif & Hatton fought the rest of the fight with extreme caution...your'e more blind than I am drunk at this very moment of 1:16 in the a.m.
5 more hours till I have to be @ work. Fwock!!!!! Must sleep!!!!! Liquor & lori's have the Wack wide ass awake. Anywho...the score sits at 46 - 49 of the 6th round & Hatton's on top. 27% connect rate for Urango. 55% for Hatton. Urango is higher in power connects at the moment...but I missed it.
7th starts & Hatton get's cracked low & continues. Urango hurts him again...this is when Hatton starts the worst of the clenching...honestly...I don't blame him. Urango hurts him twice in the 9th & Hatton is hurt...no shit...honestly...I can't see the critique here. Hatton did what he should have done to win. He hooked, he came in & YES...he did hold...but you can't blame him & other fighters have done the same. Two punches & then a clench equates to a win.
None of us were in there...none of us felt Urango's power. What Hatton did...he knew to do to win.
Headbutt in the 11th really REALLY hurt Urango...didn't fwock with Hatton. That was the best punch Hatton go off. Big left hand from Urango on the ropes...he felt that too. I see no fault in Hatton's game so far.
Unless I can book him for keeping me up all fwockin night...then that'd be on your shoudlers too. :P
The Ruiz comparison is ridiculous. Hatton done good. I just wish that Urango had won by knockout...woulda been a hell of a statement...then again...we'd miss Hatton Castillo.
Tthe rest is Wacko's Drunken Round by Round history...here's the link if you dare to care:

**I KNOW THAT THIS SEEMS LIKE A MUDDY MESS...BUT I MOVED EVERYONE'S OPINIONS HERE...ALL WE NEED NOW IS FOR YOU TO VOTE.
COME ON MY BROTHERS...LET'S SORT THIS OUT. I DON'T THINK THAT MANY OF YOU ARE BEING FAIR TO HATTON...I WASN'T TOO FAIR TO URANGO...I CAN ADMIT THAT NOW...HOW ABOUT YOU'S?
SORRY URANGO...MUCH RESPECT!!!
Alright my brothers & sisters...let's here it.

Same as when he fought Tszyu.... Not quite shot, but definitely slowing down some. It will be entertaining and competetive, but I think Hatton will win.
And I am not a Hatton fan, just a fight fan.
As far as both of their performances. They were both decent, Hatton had a better showing, but not the greatest. I think he matured a bit and followed the advice of his corner. JLC kept up a high work rate and just had a tough fighter in front of him. He definitely did not look shot to me. He did look a little rusty, and slower. He finally turned it up in the last few rounds and looked like he was trying to win. After as many fights as JLC has had can you blame him for not being excited and looking average? This was supposed to be a tuneup. He just ended up with a tougher fighter than he expected. That's my take.

Re: Hatton vs Castillo...what will it all mean? Modified with a poll & some thoughts
i reckon hatton will stop him. the layoff isn't too long and maybe both boys showed that they hadn't faught in a while on saturday. i've seen what both boys can do numerous times and judging on that i would say that hatton swarms him. but on the old cheastnut that 'your only as good as your last performance' i still say hatton stops him. but ricky needs to do something about his steam for the later rounds cos it obviously ran out on saturday, but i'm sure ricky knows that. ricky will stop him late, despite how tough castillo is.
Re: Hatton vs Castillo...what will it all mean? Modified with a poll & some thoughts
I haven't watched Castillo's fight from the weekend - but hand on heart before Saturday night I would lean towards Castillo against Hatton (and RH is my favourite fighter) so even if Castillo looked sh1t I will stick with that.
It doesn't matter what Hatton does, if he wins Castillo is washed up like Tszyu was ???
The only way Hatton gets any props from the haters is to beat Cotto or PBF and neither of those fights are ever gonna happen.
Re: Hatton vs Castillo...what will it all mean? Modified with a poll & some thoughts
My carnal Killer is one of the posters here whose Boxing knowledge is damn near genius level. If he says Castillo will stop Hatton Than Castillo will stop Hatton. Pretty much the same thing Violent D thinks. Only difference is Killer says late round stoppage. Violent D say mid-round stoppage.
Re: Hatton vs Castillo...what will it all mean? Modified with a poll & some thoughts
What will it all mean? Well considering they're both currently ranked in the top 10 P4P it'll be a great win for either man. ;)
Re: Hatton vs Castillo...what will it all mean? Modified with a poll & some thoughts
:coolclick: for the drunken but oddly coherent and relevent mucklage, senor Wackster
Yep Gotta agree I didnt get the critisism ??? Ricky took care of business plain and simple Urango is a beast physicallybut unpolished he hury Rick a few times.. It happens they are both PRO-FIGHTERS for chrisesakes!!!!!! Again I stated before I was starting to show interest in Ricky but after Saturday Night I became a fan of the man... Like Wacko may not be a total Favorite of mine but I'm still a fan...
Ricky earned my fanhood and respect on 2 different occasions
1) the last round of the Collazo fight were he was hurt dazed and almost out on his feet, but he gutted it out like a warrior and refused to go down and then preceded to try to press forward.
2)Saturday night were the 1st half of the fight he closed the distance well and showed superb footwork to OutBox Urango.. He took some crippling bodyshots.......................................Th en he wisely adapted. Whats wrong with that?? NOTHING!!! Ricky obviously was battling thru adversity in his ribs but the kid has an Iron will and one things obvious, No ones gonna break this kid mentally in a Boxing ring he reminds me alot like Evander Holyfield in that regard
3) The kid is Class and he is very Humble he seems like the type that would walk into a pub sit right down next to you have a Brew and talk about anything with you, very down to earth fellow...
I sorted through some other topics downing Ricky's peformance and I get pissed at all this scrutiny fighters catch for winning, I mean the scores werent even disputable I believe it was 119-109 or something like that, Ricky won about 10 rounds thats close to a shutout folks..
Just like Mayweather caught S*** for whitewashing Baldomir.. Fans are so damn fickle :-\
For the record and I know this sounds contridictory after singing HAttons Praises I sayat the moment Castillo will win this by late stoppage after looking at footages and considering more factors I might change my opinions in the coming months.. Castillos resume is fantastic and by far he has fought the tougher fights and has the same steely relentlessness of Hatton his resume is alot better and so is his big fight experience..
Joel Casamayor
Diego Corralles 2x
Floyd Mayweather 2x
Juan Lazcano
Julio Diaz
Jose Luis Castillo is pretty damn near close to a Legend with worldwide recognition

you miss his fight in 2005 when he beat the P4P no2 fighter at the time ???
wouldn't hold you breath on Joe though ;)
Re: Hatton vs Castillo...what will it all mean? Modified with a poll & some thoughts
OK, I gotta get this of my chest. Why is Hatton taking so much heat for being smart?
Like he said after the fight, he took his foot off the gas a little. The following is pretty clear to me. He realized that Urango has a chin and that he was unlikely to get rid of him. He didn't feel like taking a beating or risking getting hit by a lucky punch. I don't think Ricky had stamina issues. I think he had brain. He outboxed his man for the first half of the fight, he knew he was up on points, and didn't feel like risking anything when he didn't need to do so. The point of this fight was to get his belt back and set up a big $$ fight with Castillo. Mission accomplished. I saw a lot of good things from Hatton, too, in terms of boxing skill and savy. He looked a hell of a lot better than JLC did. As a fan, I would rather see "12 rounds of nonstop action" but I can respect Hatton for putting brains in front of balls. Lord know, PBF is that king of that, and he's the #1 P4P.
I think Hatton wins, he outpoints JCL, maybe even stops him. Then people will say that Castillo was shot, and that the win doesn't mean that much. Maybe they will be right, but he's still the man at 140. Unless he beats Cotto and/or Floyd, many people won't give him credit.

OK (Hatton 9)
But I meant this list - http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxing_fo...c,40569.0.html
Surely the most worthy of all P4P lists ;)

They don't speak just because they're British!
Maybe Floyd could ask Zab to teach him the chicken dance
Maybe Chico could ask Floyd where he gets a better fitting gumshield
Or maybe they don't speak just because they're American

I won't give an opinion on the fight cos I am biased but I say, regardless, people will say Castillo was past it

When they were both under Warren they were always at each others fights. They speak. Thing is one has little confidence in himself but will at least try and fight. While the other is just a straight coward (Calzcrappy).
