is it possable for a tall fighter to adoped tysons style, would it ever be affective?
tyson was short for heavyweight 5 foot 11 so he had to use peek a boo style to get in against big boys and no it wouldnt work on tall fighterQuote:

Buster Mathis 6'3 was trained by Cus D'Mato.....so look at his record
pacs style is the bad Ass offspring of tyson, it works for pac...but then again his a small guy but no so small in his division...so maybe there is a possible way a bigger heavy then tyson having tyson style can work...plus tyson wasn't that much smaller then other heavys in most of tysons fights...
Floyd Patterson was a cus D'Amato trained fighter at 6'0" tall and had good success..Tyson while listed at 5' 11" is more 5' 9"ish...Jeremy Williams at 6' 1" did not have great success with the style(or maybe it was his chin?)...some things to note about any Cus D'amato (or Tyson) styled fighter;
1) Do not throw punches moving backward, they throw punches off their lead leg.
2) Use a frantic pace and tend to peak early in their careers ala Tyson and Patterson.
3) Have no concept of fighting at a pace it's always all out so conditioning is paramount.
of course some heights are more adapted to a "style" ...I doubt wlad would do well to adapt a Tyson style ;)
No
i just wonderd what peoples view was to this as im personaly 6ft 1in tall with a lean build and as im always fighting in the street i was never getting much success with lads a bit bigger, stokier, taller ect than me....i could jab and move for so long untill i got cornerd and the bigger heavier man always came out on top,now at close quarters even at 6,1 the crouch is some what affective, hooks upper cuts and all out moving forward i beleave is the most affective fighting method for any man of size and build.danny williams kinda addopted it in the first fight against audley harrison and although it was a dull fight he won it,then in the second fight audley was the one that came out all guns blazing so there is great affectivness to it.
danny is 6 foot 1 but is fat and stocky like you said your lanky fella so wont work well for you just practice your boxing countering moving using jab stick and move ect and if you want advice on how to do that go ask someone in *ask the trainer section* we have here mateQuote:

As for the Tyson style for a taller guy...it's diffcult but it can be done, you just have to have REALLY strong legs and really good headmovement because Tyson ducked under a lot of punches instead of blocking or stepping back.
As for Kevin Rooney I hear he still brings in the short stuffs and that's about all he trains little guys to be like Tyson....eh it's too one dimensional a style for me to enjoy.
Bareknuckle boxing was different than "street fighting" if you bareknuckle box then you're still BOXING if you "street fight" it's anything goes.
Pac's style is balls to the wall but it isn't anything like Tyson's.Quote:

Tysons style works for short guys.
Street fighting is totally different than boxing.
or even MMA.
Id bet you've never had a real fight.
