A question regarding Ricky Hatton
As disappointed i am with Hatton defending his title, are we looking at the possiblilty of him becoming fighter of the year again by the end of 2007????
Sounds a bit hard to grasp at the minute...
but..
IF When he beats Ben Rabah / N'Dou
and...
IF he beats castillo in November, he will be making a rather good case for himself.
When you break it down he will have beaten a champ for his title, defended it against his mandatory and then beaten a legend ALL ON FOREIGN SOIL. That sounds pretty good to me.
Maybe we should wait til the end of the year and give him one last chance. 8)
Re: A question regarding Ricky Hatton
Ben Rebah and N'dou are both backwards steps. Why doesnt he take on witter instead of them? Witter is a bigger name then both of them and it just dont make sense why he isnt risk taking enough. :( its sad really, i want Ricky to show he is the best and his next match up will just be another "W" on his record!
Re: A question regarding Ricky Hatton
i no what your sayin mate. i can understand people want to see the castillo fight next. but when he DOES get thru his mandatory fighting castillo with the ibf title on the line will make it just that bit more interesting. so i can see hatton and hodsons point.
Re: A question regarding Ricky Hatton
I think people are being a bit harsh on Ricky if he jacks it in tomorrow hes had a great carrer. Plus in this game everything is not black or white or what it seems. Why fans are fans is through identity, Ricky hasnt changed the circumstances have.

Spin it anyway you want. It ain't going to work. If Hatton does not fight Castillo in his next fight. And instead fights N'dou or Rabah. It'll be an act of a coward. That simple.
Re: A question regarding Ricky Hatton
New to the forum and i must declare im a huge hatton fan since his amateur days...however even i dont think hatton has a justifiable case as fighter of the year...
Re: A question regarding Ricky Hatton
Not even if he beats Urango, Ben Rabah, Castillo by the end of the year?
Re: A question regarding Ricky Hatton
is it actually official that he's not vacating the title to fight castillo in june?? his site still says the fight is going down in june
http://www.rickyhitmanhatton.com/index2.php
but mind you that site is not the best for being reguarly updated

No. Not even close. Urango and Rabah are C level fighters. And he ain't beating Castillo

Being that boxing's Hall of Fame is the biggest joke in all of sports, in that they let almost anyone in, Hatton is probably already a hall of famer. However, if it was how it should be, like baseball, he wouldn't be close.

I'd say there's a better chance of the winner of Vazquez / Marquez being fighter of the year.
There will be too many guys getting better fights overall
Cotto: Urkal -> Margarito -> ?
Mayweather: de la Hoya -> ?
it is far too early say.
especially if he loses to any of these guys.
Ricky's style will make for a great match against N'Dou a very winnable fight for him
If Ricky fights Ben Rabah, I think he will have problems with him, Ben Rabah can't hit
hard, but he is very, very slick, and could slap his way to victory.
If Ricky takes on Castillo, I think you will see a very different JLC and Hatton than in
their last performances, but Castillo's body attack, very well may be Ricky's Achilles heel.
Re: A question regarding Ricky Hatton
i Think Hatton will beat Rabah or N'dou. Castillo is a pick em fight. Not a bad year really if he gets Castillo at the end. There isn't any bigger fight that can be made at 140.
Re: A question regarding Ricky Hatton
I think a more active schedule would benefit Ricky, I like when he fights more frequent. Ricky is not the only fighter that benefits from activity ! a good tight schedule keeps your weight in check and you are sharper as a result, spend your time in the gym working on strategy and boxing related studies rather then fucking off day after day trying to get into some kind of shape other then round . Re: A question regarding Ricky Hatton
Myabe he needs to get shut of Billy Graham as his coach. He doesn't appear to be learning anything new anymore. He's just patching shit up at the minute.

Ricky is not gonna learn anything new at this stage of his career !
He might adjust the game plan a little like Barrera but he's still going to be doing what he normally does!
Ricky Hatton has nothing whatsoever to prove to anyone in the man stakes after the Collazo and Tszyu fights i for one would like to see him Box more like he did in the opening 2 rounds against Urango but he's not gonna change that much .
As for Billy Graham i'm by no means his biggest fan i think he likes the sound of his won voice FAR to much but Ricky is his own man and he trusts him and they've been throught it all together .
Bloods thicker than water .

Thats the 1st timw i have seen you post. That means you get the mandatory :coolclick: from me as a 'welcome to the forum'
I agree that hatton won't get rid of Graham and i do like Graham but Hatton is only 28 and he should be still able to learn.
Thing that bugged me with Graham for the Urango fight was the fact that he had Ricky doing pad work but he was holding the pads in the orthadox position. Gives off the impression that they don't pay too much attention to detail. I feel he needs better sparring to be honest and to do that he needs to probably go to america for a few years. Drsatic as the sounds i think it will do him the world of good.
Re: A question regarding Ricky Hatton
having followed hatton from the amateur ranks to present i feel Ricky may not intend to prolong his involvement in the boxing world...5 more fights i think personally....and with one guaranteed to be a WAR (against Castillo,) perhaps even less....He gets very little credit now but we will miss him when he's gone

Because Witter is A) Not his Mandatory & B) Not Castillo.
Maybe in 2008?
