Don't worry guys - N'dou/Hatton will be a live one
Just got back from watching Lovemore N'dou stop Ben Rabah in the 11th round. So N'dou did what Juan Urango couldn't and stop Rabah...
The fight was a complete war, but in the end Rabah just couldn't cope with N'dou's relentless attack.
I'll say Hatton wins the fight but N'dou tonight was as hungry as I've ever seen him. He's dropped close decisions to Sharmba Mitchell and Miguel Cotto, and a not so close decision to Junior Witter.
N'dou will most definitely be a live underdog in this one, and I'll be having a few bucks on him if the fight is in the Sates.
I know everybody is bummed coz the Castillo fight has been pushed back but I'm not so bummed anymore. N'dou was the first guy I interviewed for this site around 2 years ago and he was making noise about fighting Hatton then and now he's finally getting his chance. I've got a soft spot for him.
He's talented, tough, fit and very professional. He's also a very good body puncher... I'm telling you all now that Hatton will have to be at his absolute best to win.

Thankyou for the post mate. I suppose it could be a good fight but I was really gutted at the news of castillo being pushed.

Re: Don't worry guys - N'dou/Hatton will be a live one
Lovemore ??? Is fighting Hatton ???
Should be a good fight unless Hatton gets away with holding.
-
Re: Don't worry guys - N'dou/Hatton will be a live one
Haven't seen N'dou lately...but if the N'dou that fought Cotto (Back in 2004 giving him all that he could handle I might add) shows up...Hatton will have a long & ruff night ahead of him.
-
Re: Don't worry guys - N'dou/Hatton will be a live one
didn't Ndou tear something in his left shoulder in the first round and seperate his own rib during the Cotto fight or something too ??? At 100 percent he should give Hatton a fight. But time is going to catch him sooner or later. Good measuring stick to see if Hatton or Witter do better
-
Re: Don't worry guys - N'dou/Hatton will be a live one
N'dou fought like a man possessed today. Rabah is very skilled and has a lot of handspeed but in the end he quit - N'dou's punches and workrate just demoralised him I think.
N'dou is 35 but hasn't had much luck so far in his career. I think luck might be with him this time. One thing for sure, he'll be the hungriest guy Hatton has fought in a while - he wants a belt BAD.
-
Re: Don't worry guys - N'dou/Hatton will be a live one
Is this fight confirmed though, I was under the impression that Hatton didn't fancy a fight against a lesser name in the division like N'dou, and preferred the bout with Castillo. He sounds as though it would make for an exciting fight though.
-
Re: Don't worry guys - N'dou/Hatton will be a live one
At the moment, acoording to fightnews and secondsout, there is a 'strong rumour' that Hatton has indicated to the IBF he will fulfil his mandatory. So N'dou in June, Castillo in November...

True, will be the best evidence in comparing Hatton and Witter. A lot of people here dismiss Witter as all noise but he had Ndou in trouble a few time early on, and then as usual took his foot off it at the end to tarnish the performance. Everyone is saying that this will be a tough fight for Hatton, and he will have to do better than Witter or Junior's claims may not seem like such a lot of hot air!

Re: Don't worry guys - N'dou/Hatton will be a live one
Perhaps this relentless rabah is exactly what Ricky needs....I believe Hatton is altering his style at the moment, similarly to Barrera. Remember Barrera in his early career utilising non stop action and a shotgun left hook, well thats a far cry from the boxer puncher we see nowadays.....I believe hatton is doing the same, he said himself "theres only so many wars one can take"

Re: Don't worry guys - N'dou/Hatton will be a live one
If it was true that Hatton was to face the winner this must throw a spanner in the works.
How can they sell Hatton vs Witter-Victim?
-
Re: Don't worry guys - N'dou/Hatton will be a live one
True that Fenster - Hatton is always dissing Witter's legitimacy as a challenger to him, so if he fights a Witter casualty he will look a right tit...
-
Re: Don't worry guys - N'dou/Hatton will be a live one
While this is a def. bummer for me.......being all set on Hatton/Castillo; I think this may be a wise move as far as the long term. Hatton only has a few more huge fights left and from the talks ODLH and Mayweather both might be possibilities.
Although most people will disagree, Gatti has one fight left in his contract and I think that he will seriously consider Hatton as his last fight.
-
Re: Don't worry guys - N'dou/Hatton will be a live one
I have to admit that I would prefer to see Castillo-Hatton fight, but it will not bother me to wait and watch Hatton-N'dou first. I feel confortable saying that N'dou is a tough guy just looking at Cotto's fight (unfortunately I could not watch his last fight). He showed Cotto's weekness at that moment to defend from the right hand, landing that punch 2, 3 times consecutively (I hope Cotto learned his lesson). And, he will be the hungriest from both. This is something that can create a lot of problems to Hatton.
Although Hatton will be the clear favorite, this is one where I can take the risk with a bet in favor of N'dou. Actually, if Castillo make other fight I would recommend him to take his opponents more seriously because we may end up watching N'dou and someone else who beat Castillo.

Re: Don't worry guys - N'dou/Hatton will be a live one
i want to hear something straight from rickys mouth saying whats going on. i'm still holding on to the dream of a june showdown with castillo because nothing has been anounced officially yet. hatton vs ndou could be a good match up but i just want to see ricky in bigger fights at this point in his carear. i would rather see him fight witter than ndou, and witter would take the fight.
-
Re: Don't worry guys - N'dou/Hatton will be a live one
What if Castillo moves on to other things? Like Castillo - Corrales 3 Rev. B at 147 or summat,
why is everyone assuming Castillo is gonna wait around for Hatton?

nice. This actually sounds like good news! I didnt like how castillo was lacking in his last fight. Hungry fighters are the toughest ones to fight, especially to a guy like hatton who has eaten his fill for quite some time now! Literally and figuratively ;D
I didnt see Rabah-N'dou...sounds like it was a really good fight. Seeing how Rabah shouldve won UD against Urango, and N'dou beat Rabah and now gets Hatton...sometimes boxing does come full cirlce

Same way they sold Hatton vs. Ben Rabah- victim ??? How did they sell Maussa?? Collazo? Noone knew who any of his last three opponents were by and large.. THis will be no different.. People won't even know he fought Witter.

Re: Don't worry guys - N'dou/Hatton will be a live one
I think n'dou is a bit underatted even though the only fight ive seen him in is against witter in which i wasnt impressed but i no witter is a very tricky boxer to beat so i dont think theres much shame in losing him nd when i looked over his record (W48 L8 Ko's30) nd his loses although hes lost 8 times i think the first 2 loses where due to him stepping up in class to quickly nd lost 3 fights he should have won nd the other 3 to cotto, mitchell, witter who r all gd boxers nd i dont think hes ever been down nd has descent power with 30 of his 45 win inside the distance but thats just from looking at his record although that can only tell u so much about a fighter so i dont no for sure how gd he is as i have only seen him fight once but from wot i no already i can only see a fight between him nd hatton being very gd contest as hatton isnt going to be hard to find unlike mitchell, cotto or even rabah so if the castillo fight doesnt happen i can c it being a great fight i no it wont stop the hatters but the hatton fans will like it.
-
Re: Don't worry guys - N'dou/Hatton will be a live one
I don't care how N'dou looked against a bum like Rabah. Hatton should not be facing a fighter with 6 losses. What's is the point? The IBF title means nothing. It's almost a big of a joke as the WBO. Throw it in the fucking trash and go fight Castillo. Can't believe these Hatton groupies are actually trying to justify this. N'dou is not only a Witter victim. He's also a Cotto victim and Shramba Mitchell victim. Hell he's even a Steve Quinonez victim.

Your comparing N'dou with Castillo?
-
Re: Don't worry guys - N'dou/Hatton will be a live one
Rabah got exposed. I guess he had the Urango fight in his head, noticed that running away doesn't win fights, so took a brave pill and stood toe to toe. It was easily the best fight of the year so far, and I was really impressed by Rabah because he was in N'dou's kitchen. You can see why he was running from Urango because he cannot take punishment and come through it.
Castillo is 10 times better than N'dou.

You said Hatton shouldn't be fighting N'dou because of the number of losses on his record (I believe he actually has 8 now). I was pointing out that Castillo has 7 losses on his record.
Castillo is a proven campaigner. At lightweight he was a legend and reigned for a long time. But lets not forget that he looked average in his last fight and is probably past his best given the number of tough fights he's had. N'dou has been with the some of the best at 140 (Mitchell, Cotto, Witter) and shaken the hell out of 2 of them.
So yes I'm comparing N'dou and Castillo. N'dou has two advantages - desire and he's proven at the weight. I honestly believe that Lovemore N'dou will give Hatton a tougher fight than Castillo would, and if I was a Hatton fan I'd be extremely worried that he's taking on N'dou before his big money fight with Castillo. Because if he's not fully prepared, N'dou is busy, tough and hungry enough to spoil the party for everyone.

Greig can you imagine the verbals from N'dou if Hatton drops the belt and (rightly) opts to fight Castillo? ;D

No it is different.
British fans will know. Hatton will get slaughtered....although thats nothing new.

Re: Don't worry guys - N'dou/Hatton will be a live one
Oh man, it would make Ali's taunting of Liston look like primary school stuff ;D ;D
I think all that reporting that Hobson had assured the IBF Hatton would take the mandatory got ol' Lovemore's hopes up.
I just said on another post I think Hobson is a clown. Secondsout don't report garbage - they are an accurate and well researched site.
I don't think Hobson has done N'dou or Hatton any favours with this thing...
If Hatton fights Castillo in June then N'dou should get the IBF belt handed to him without another fight. Then at least he'll get to call himself a legitimate world champion.
But Memphis, at this stage of Lovemore's career what he wants more than anything else is a bloody payday...
-
Re: Don't worry guys - N'dou/Hatton will be a live one
Im convinced that Hobson had a phone call with the IBF that went something along the lines of "Ricky would like to defend his title in June" and when it came out the other end it was translated as "Ricky will definately defend his title in June"
The word from the horses mouth is that it will be Castillo, title or no title.

I have a vested interes now, coz I have a soft spot for N'dou but 99% of boxing fans want Castillo/Hatton so, for once in this crazy sport, lets give the fans what they want, when they want it.

I believe that is the motto of Don King and his corps of promoters, or part of it:
"Lets give the fans what they want, when they want it, and make them pay big for it"
And if anyone can give me that in latin, you got a week of cc's.

Well the upside of that is that it leaves plenty more time for speculation, and for Junior 'sleep time' Witter to get his arse on the wires offering Hatton a do or die fight with a winner takes all purse. He knows Hatton won't bite, but he gets a few headlines and his ugly mug on the websites.

Re: Don't worry guys - N'dou/Hatton will be a live one
This is a bit of a nonsense thread really as despite the rumours , all the people close to Hatton are still saying its Hatton Catillo in June and they done care about the belt. Hatton has the RING belt at 140 which is what he would defend against Castillo.
-
Re: Don't worry guys - N'dou/Hatton will be a live one
There is no telling if Castillo was really rusty or if he got old on us so I'm probably in the minority here but the fight with N'dou excites me more. I don't care about names, I care about the fights they can produce. I think N'dou has plenty left and this fight is a better match up than the Castillo one IMO. Hopefully we don't get stuck watching a clinch fest.
-
Re: Don't worry guys - N'dou/Hatton will be a live one
Like everyone else i was a bit disappointed to hear about Castillo - Hatton moving back to november over what seems to be stupid IBF beurocracy, not just because we all want to see Ricky Hatton fight the big names, and because Ricky needs to prove a point by beating someone with a name. It'd shut up the haters and give him the respect he deserves.
But on reflection I think this could work out alright. Castillo didn't look great against that dude on the Ricky Hatton fight, he's had a load layoff and he needs to shake off the ring-rust. If he'd have fought Hatton that night he'd have been pulverised. He needs a tune-up fight, and I think if he gets one and looks good the Hatton - Castillo fight would be much more interesting.
I also protest about N'Dou being called a journeyman. N'Dou is one tough motherfucker, if he is a journeyman he's one of the hardest working journeyman out there. I know Hatton can fight better opposition than this, but I still think Hatton - N'Dou would be an outright war, and I think the american audience needs to see more of the Ricky Hatton we know and love, the mini-Duran who used to batter people into submission back in Manchester. N'Dou would be well up for that type of fight.
I know people are going to bring up Junior Witter coz witter beat this guy, but if Hatton does end up fighting him just look and see how he does it. People say the last 6 rounds of Urango - Hatton was boring, man the last 6 rounds of that fight were death! Junior has great skills but he doesn't want 12 hard rounds of fight, he doesn't like it down in the trenches where Hatton would drag him, testing his heart, his chin and his bollocks.
Plus if Hatton looks good against N'Dou dont you think the Castillo fight would be much more sellable to the americans? Right now Ricky's not looked awesome in his past couple of fights I think N'Dou would make Ricky look badass. What d'ya reckon then?

This is a man talking sense. N'dou Hatton won't happen, but I agree with everything you said...
