Saturday Night - Collazo-V-Mosley... Who wins?
No one seems to be talking about this fight too much, yet should prove to be a real boxing treat! 8)
Mosley seems rejuvenated and Collazo knows he's getting better and better. IMO this is a pick-em fight posing many questions that beg to be answered...
Is Mosley really back to his old ways... Is he still fast, explosive and confident?
Is Collazo really the best kept secret of the 147'ers... Can he exhibit and utilise the tough & slick qualities he showed against Hatton?
What does this fight do for boxing @ 147... Indeed what does it do for the winner and loosers career respectively?
Also, what reverberating effect could this fights outcome have on the reputation of past opponents?
At this point, more importantly, who do you think will win this intriguing match-up?
Discuss ;)

Its not been shown in the UK live so there isn't as much interest over here for it. I voted Collazo by UD anyway. I don't think Mosley is back to his best. I think Vargas was washed up and that in itself made Mosley out to be better than he is. Last time at welter he looked average against Cruz but i think Collazo's combination punching could be a big factor.
-
Re: Saturday Night - Collazo-V-Mosley... Who wins?
I went with UD by Mosley. The bookies have Mosley by a margin so it really isn't a pick em' fight. I think a gift decision could perhaps happen......not that Shane will need it.

Yeah I was hoping for a response from our Stateside Saddonians, I know it’s being shown live on ShowTime.
Your right about Mosley's last outing at Welter. I’m hoping he has returned with more in his locker.
The thing that gets me is that Mosley’s thing seemed to be based around speed & power in combinations.
So potentially you’ve got two fighters willing to put a lot in.
On top of that Mosley as we know is a very seasoned fighter while Collazo already has that look about him too.

I think i'll be able to watch it on stream hopefully bcos i'm looking forward to Harris - Lazcano on the undercard as well. Another pick em fight IMO.
Going back to the main event i'm in a win win situation....
If Collazo wins i'll be able to issue 'i told you so's' to the Hatton haters
and if Mosley wins, his signed Glove on my bedroom wall might go up in value... ;D

The bookies favour Mosley heavily? Thats intresting.
I voted Collazo UD... Now i'm thinking about having a flutter too :D

Re: Saturday Night - Collazo-V-Mosley... Who wins?
I'm really up in the air about this one. Everytime I doubt Mosley, he proves me wrong, so I'm leaning toward him. This will be a very tough and entertaining fight.

I almost forgot about the Lazcano/ Harris fight... Indeed, it should be a very entertaining night of boxing.
Its a shame its not on Sky Sports at least on Sunday.
You know, i wonder if these Hatton haters are also secretly Mosley haters too? ;D
What a pain in the neck that would be! ;)

Fair Point.
I suppose we have to realise the fact that the only time Mosley really did fail to deliver was up at 154.
-
Re: Saturday Night - Collazo-V-Mosley... Who wins?
Actually speaking of Hatton......I want Collazo to win. I think an impressive win over Shane would really lift some wieght off of Hatton after his fight.
-
Re: Saturday Night - Collazo-V-Mosley... Who wins?
Sky had it scheduled as live at one point >:mad
Bit surprised the bookies have Mosley such a strong favourite...although I think he'll win. I'm interested too in what it does for Hattons form.
-
Re: Saturday Night - Collazo-V-Mosley... Who wins?
Im taking Shane to win this by decision. Callazo is a good boxer, but Shane is one of the best of recent times and hes going have so much more experience.

I like Mosley he's one of the nice guys and Collazo is a very good fighter so it should be great.

Re: Saturday Night - Collazo-V-Mosley... Who wins?
Definately looking forward to this one,
My picks -
Mosley by UD, I think that mosley's jumping in and out will be too much for Collazo
8 rounds to 4 Mosley
Lazcano by 8th round KO, people underestimate Harris, but more people underestimate Lazcano.
as long as he can survive the early storm Lazcano will turn it around and make Harris kiss the canvas.
-
Re: Saturday Night - Collazo-V-Mosley... Who wins?
I lean towards Collazo on this one....
...only just.
I Dont think Luis is going to blow-out Mosely, i think it's going to be a close fought affair, but the younger & Fresher Luis Collazo may just seize his 2nd shot at the big time!
I dont think Collazo has a weak enough for shane to exploit, although im sure he will have his moments.
They are both fast-handed - but Luis also has the southpaw advantage too.
I just dont feel shane is as pumped up for this fight as he should be!

Yeah these two seem like a pair of gentlemen compared to the rest of the welters. I like Collazo stealthy ethic. Made a fight with Hatton with out much a fuss, made a fight with Mosley with out much a fuss. Just gets on with.
Id be keen to find out who Collazo has around him.
I cant watch the fight live. Which is a shame, but i'll be sure to catch Sky's pre-recorded showing on the 14th.

Re: Saturday Night - Collazo-V-Mosley... Who wins?
the thing is Hatton caught Collazo cold in the first round it you remember he knocked him on his arse so Mosley might do the same in a better and more finishing fashion...
im hoping he wont because this place will go mad with the anti Hatton parade so really for a quite life a Mosley UD would be a good result for me but a Callazo win would be even better ;D

Careful with that though, Adamek was a heavy favorite against Dawson as well

That could be a double-edged sword there, what happens if Mosley blows out Collazo quickly?

Yeah i'll buy that. Lazcano seems like a distant memory to me (mainly as a Castillo victim) but i know he is mighty dangerous. Vicious Viv has got a hell of a lot to prove since the Maussa Debacle ::**
However Viv dosen't strike me as much of a wise type. He'll probably throw a ton of shots early on, wind down and get KTFO.

Vary good post CityofGod heres a cc for you :coolclick: . I completely agree with everything your saying especially the part where you said "Collazo may just seize his 2nd shot at the big time!" and "I just dont feel shane is as pumped up for this fight as he should be!" However I did pick Mosley just because I am biased when it comes to Mosley he's always been one of my top fighters especially when he was younger. I really think this fight is going to be a good one, honestly I wouldn't be upset at all if Collazo won though.

mosly ko ten same sixe more power more speed

I feel that Mosley will knockout Collazo inside 7... O0

Re: Saturday Night - Collazo-V-Mosley... Who wins?
I'm gonna take SSM by UD, pretty decisive win for Mosley by 3 or 4 rds.... I think SSMs vet. skills and tactics will do it for him..... His hand speed is better then Collazo, SSM knows how to put punches together well and I think ultimately Collazo will not be able to find a rythim as SSM will mix it up.....

It's on HBO. I hear everyone on the uncertainty of Shane, and it being hard to tell against a punching-bag version of Vargas, but I'm still picking him to win by KO. If he can KO a nearly 170-pound Vargas, he's easily got the power to do the same here.
Question for the Hatton fans: if Collazo wins, it's because Shane's past his prime, right? No one would pick Collazo over a prime Shane. So how would a Collazo victory over a shot Shane Mosely do anything to bolster Hatton's (gift) decision over Collazo? Not following....
-
Re: Saturday Night - Collazo-V-Mosley... Who wins?
I guess Mosley, though he didn't exactly look spectacular at 147 versus Estrada or Cruz.

Nice try. Shane was coming off of back-to-back victories looking pretty prime against De La Hoya when he turned down a third to fight Winky. And unlike Collazo, one could certainly argue that Winky could take Shane at any point in Shane's career anyway. My question still stands.

Aha! But why did he turn down the thrid fight with Dela-Hoya? ;)
Anyway, not meaning to side track, Collazo isn't fighting a shot Mosley.

Re: Saturday Night - Collazo-V-Mosley... Who wins?
I know this isn't what the Hatton fans want to hear... But I think it may very well come down to Mosley and how he handled the move back to 147, how his speed has kept up etc.. I think if he is in great shape and serious like he sounds to be, he will win this fight by mid round KO. People forget that Hatton had very little problem hitting Collazo, it was the counter punching that gave him so much trouble... But Shane is alot faster and more powerful than Ricky at welterweight, or at least he should be. If he uses good movement and combinations I don't expect Collazo to last very long. Don't be surprised if he ends up counting lightbulbs.
-
Re: Saturday Night - Collazo-V-Mosley... Who wins?
I am taking Mosely by UD. It will look closer than what the score cards will reflect. I expect Collazo to have a good showing, enough to look good without getting blown out. He will do enough to make it competitive, and like I said Mosely will win the UD (8 to 4 my guess) but it will appear closer than that. Shane will have to much experience and speed for Collazo.

I ended up taking Mosley by UD. I think Collazo will be just good enough to lose competitively. I can't bet against Shane. For some reason, Forrest had his number, and Winky is Winky - bigger, great D, great chin, vicious jab to keep Shane off balance.
Collazo is a nice figher, but Shane is going to pick him apart, little by little. I'm not sure I see a stoppage, unless it's very late. I think Shane KO'd Vargas because he was brawler who walked into punches. Collazo is a little cuter. He won't get hit flush quite as often and I think he'll be able to go to full 12, and he'll probably manage to take 3 or 4 rounds. That's my storry and I'm stickin to it.

Let's hope that Wacko's grandmother is doing okay and that he is not away because of that.
