I feel the need to come out of the closet. Bilbo's sordid shame.........
Ok after years of abusing people who watch MMA and laughing in their faces if they actually thought the guys involved were athletes, I've started to find myself secretly following the UFC.
I've actually started visiting dirty sites that have profiles on the top fighters, I've sought out past fights on youtube and worst of all I have downloaded UFC 66 and UFC 67 and watched them right through and ejoyed them :-X
Yesterday I actually did something that I am thoroughly ashamed of.
Instead of rewatching the Dawson Adamek fight, I instead sat down and rewatched UFC 67 in it's entirety. :-[
Then without even stopping to get a cup of tea, I watched UFC 66 from start to finish as well.
5 hours of sordid unrestrained MMA abuse. :-[
Now I keep getting an urge to download the Rampage Jackson vs Chuck Lydell fight and I keep finding myself wanting to find out more about Mirko Cro Cop ???
I don't know what to do, Shamrock is fighting Lacie tonight and I just know I'm going to download it. I can't stop myself.
Can somebody please help me....... :-[

There is nothing wrong with liking MMA. I honestly see it as sport in its purest form. Two men enter, and whoever is superior wins. Pretty much no rules to speak of. You may be the best boxer or wrestler or judoka or whatever in the world, but that doesn't mean your going to win. When the two men enter, 9 times out of 10, it is the superior athlete that leaves.

I always ask people, "how can you not like two guys beating the crap out of each other?!"
As good as boxing and MMA are, they're still not quite as good as hockey fights. ;D

Haha...now THAT'S a sport (hockey fighting) that takes some talent. How people manage to stay on their feet after the first punch is thrown is beyond me. Granted, I'm not the greatest skater, but I'm no slouch. Of course, I think it's because my natural reaction is to really turn into my punches boxing style, and that isn't really the greatest idea when you're wearing something designed to slide along ice with ease :P

Lol...i saw this topic on the forum summary on the main site....and had to go through all of the different segments of the forum looking for the darn thing. And to be honest Bilbo, i was expecting some sort of admission that your bedroom still had the 'My Little Pony' wallpaper your bedroom had when you were born...
Anyhow, I guess this is as close as you will be coming to ignominy and shame pal. MMA has nothing on boxing, but then again tht's my opinion. Personally, I'd proably prefer watching back to back tapes of Junior Witter's last 5 fights than MMA, and that's saying something. Don't worry Bilbo, now that you've come out, we'll promise to be your friends and ostracize you forever more!

lol I know I should feel bad but I keep on watching it all the same. I was hoping you regular posters wouldn't notice me posting in the MMA forum but guess I've been sprung. :-[
Hopefully public humiliation from the boxing posters on this site will shame me back onto the straight and narrow path again.
There should be somewhere I could go to get help and counselling to overcome my addiction before it's too late.
Do you think God will still love me, or does watching this kind of stuff condemn me to hell?

You DO realize there is nothing wrong with liking ALL the combart arts, right? A lot of people on other MMA boards are always debating Pride Fighting Championship vs Ultimate Fighting Championship, and how one is awesome and the other sucks. Why pick sides? Why not just enjoy MMA as a whole, regardless of where its held? I love watching MMA, and I love watching boxing, and I love watching judo and BJJ and karate and Tae Kwan Do tournaments. I enjoy all combart arts, because I believe they are all the purest form of sport and competition to be found. I'd rather watch MMA most of the time, but I wouldn't say MMA is BETTER than boxing. All these guys are the best in their respective sports, and always put up a great fight (with some obvious exceptions), so I could never put down any one of them over the other.

:coolclick: returned buddy. Glad to see someone else struggling with this addicition. Perhaps you are right, we shouldn't be ashamed of who we are and what our preferences are. I think I'm going to be more open about it from now and try to just sit back and enjoy it rather than riddling myself with guilt.
I know many on the regular board would consider us dirty and perverted but they just don't understand. :-[

Hahaha!! I love it... Welcome you now have an open mind to combat sports, you will enjoy the MMA's the skill set is phenomenal and as you watch closely you will get an even bigger appreciation for grappling and the many different styles and techniques..

Glad to see you've opened your mind about MMA. My first love was boxing, and I didn't get into MMA till a buddy of mine from Brazil told me I had to watch this guy name Royce Gracie in UFC II. I then really got into it once I started training in submission grappling. I still love a good boxing match but it just seems that I get more bang for my buck from MMA ppv's. I also feel like there is less chance of a shady decision and that the fights that should happen usually do.
