~Collazo:"I hurt my left hand in the third round..... I hurt it in training"
Turns out Collazo fought with an injured hand.....
Am I the only person who thinks it's 'chicken shit' to come out and say 'I hurt my hand during training"
to me when fighters say this I stop and think, did he really hurt his hand or is he saying this just to see if he can get the benifit of the doubt?
I for one as I said 'hate' when people say this, now there times when it's obvious a fighter has an injured hand but in this case or others that I've seen it's very questionable....
I don't care if Collazo had 3 hands tonight theres was no way he was beating SSM tonight....
Thoughts anyone?
At any point did you tell yourself, 'I think Collazos hand is hurt"

Re: ~Collazo:"I hurt my left hand in the third round..... I hurt it in training"
Im really quite annoyed collazo couldnt pull off the win...But hey..Thats sugar shane for you..
A true great fighter can still pull off the big fights..
Yeh it annoys me when people say they had this or that injury during fights most of the time..
The only time i will allow a fighter to excuse his performance and blame an injury is if you can visibly see that he's hurt something and somethings not right during the fight..
Sorta like a clottey thing.. if you know what i mean..
Annoyed me that paulie was so humble after the cotto loss and then had to get his words in and blame aspects of his team etc.. That sucks.. anyways though..
-
Re: ~Collazo:"I hurt my left hand in the third round..... I hurt it in training"
Excuses. He should have said it before the fight or not said it all.
-
Re: ~Collazo:"I hurt my left hand in the third round..... I hurt it in training"
So THAT'S why he lost!
It had nothing to do with Mosley being faster, hungrier, and busier!
I get it now.
Collazo WANTED to press harder but the injury just wouldn't let him, even if that isn't Collazo's style and never was!
I find it funny how almost every fighter who loses had some mysterious injury nobody knew about.
Whether he truly was hurt or not, Collazo didn't look hungry.
Fighters have fought through injuries before.
Trying to cheapen Mosley's victory doesn't work on this observer. He simply got beat.
-
Re: ~Collazo:"I hurt my left hand in the third round..... I hurt it in training"
Ahhh, it's the old "I got my ass kicked, so I'll pretend I was injured" strategy.
-
Re: ~Collazo:"I hurt my left hand in the third round..... I hurt it in training"
This king of "garbage" seems to be the modus operandi from Brooklyn fighters....Briggs, Judah, Bowe....now Collazo....they need to do their fighting and talking in the ring. They talk too much.
-
Re: ~Collazo:"I hurt my left hand in the third round..... I hurt it in training"
yea i hate this kind of nonsense it would of been better to of said he was better man tonight i tried my hardest but he was too good tonight and i wish him luck in his next fight

Yeah...It's B*llsh*t...."I was injured during sparring, training, falling down the stairs leaving the hotel just before the fight"....Why have the preplanned excuse?...because you lost or are trying to take away from the other guy..."I beat him with a broken hand"....If you're hurt well before a fight wait till it heals....why put yourself in the position of further injury?!? I never really believe it anyway....

Great to see Mosley back to top form. Now let's see Shane or Collazo fight the winner of Cotto Margarito
God I love it when Starr makes these kind of comments.

I disagree Miles,Starr makes some of the most absurd statements ever! Wasn't she the one complaining about Morales getting a shot at Pacman after Raheem beat him yet shes saying Collazo should fight Tony or Cotto? I don't get it!

Re: ~Collazo:"I hurt my left hand in the third round..... I hurt it in training"
Bully?
If you think I'm bulling her and she is a 'she', trust me.
I'm not thats how it's always gone down. Everytime anyone posts something your're open game for anyone, her and I just have different points of views in almost everything. But I will tell you that we've also agreed on a couple of threads, so no I'm not bulling her.... If you don't belive me ask her send her a PM.
Believe me she can hold her own. :)

CC's to Mick and El Gamo...
Star's gender is a mystery to most species so a white flag to that! ;D

Re: ~Collazo:"I hurt my left hand in the third round..... I hurt it in training"
I can believe he hurt his hand in the third, because he wasnt throwing nearly enough to match Shanes output. Even in the last round when he knew he had to come out for the knockout...he wasnt throwing.

Possibly because he had about as much chance of knocking Mosley out as I would??

Although thats a nice way of looking at it,it's irrelevant whether he hurt his hand,Shane was walking through the shots anyway and Luis looked tired as the fight went on. And he should have stated BEFORE the fight, not after that he hurt it in training. What does he want? A rematch? If he hurt it in training, how comes he was throwing it just fine until the 4th round? I'm not buying this one and it's not as if he was hitting Shane on the head/elbows with it or that its a monstrous right hand

I think its generally comes down to 'if the face fits'
Think about it, Jeff Lacy says he has a shoulder injury and thats why he was off aganst Tyspko and guys on here were all for feeling sorry for him and using that as the reason for his dire performance.
Collazo says he hurts his arm and it becomes an excuse.
Not that it would have mattered anyway last night because Mosley was too damm good but there has to be some consistency with it. It shouldn't be ok for one fighter to cry injury and not ok for the other.
-
Re: ~Collazo:"I hurt my left hand in the third round..... I hurt it in training"
In those first rounds, Collazo was connecting on good shots to Shanes head, snapping it back. Which hand was he complaining about? If it was the left he probably hurt it on Shanes head with one of those hard shots. If he had said anything before the fight , people would have been questioning him anyway. The guy showed heart and tried to fight, I dont know if he normally closes his eyes between rounds....but he looked like he was trying to dig down. He did ballon up 13 pounds to 160, so it could be he just ran out of gas.

Lacy had surgery on his 'rotator cuff' thats a fact.

Re: ~Collazo:"I hurt my left hand in the third round..... I hurt it in training"
im gunna give collazo the benefit of the doubt on this one. as far as i know he hasn't make excuses for fights in the past - i have given hatton shit for his excuses coz there seems to be one for ever fight sinze tszyu, but for now collazo as far as i ama ware hasn't said shit before, and in a game where pride is so much, it must be hard not to say u hurt your self if its true and u believe it largly affected they way you fought.

That's true. But I also doubt you'll find many people who'd hold him in a higher regard for claiming a hand injury after the fight. He be better served to just give Shane credit and tell us he'll be back, almost all boxers have an excuse as to every loss they have, in their mind.

Wel yeh but folk on here were happy to use that as an excuse before they knew he was going for surgery.
Maybe Lacy was a bad example..... ;D

Id say so.. Not just because he's had surgery since but watching that fight you could definetly tell Lacy hurt his left arm somehow, he completely stopped using it after easily being in control with it alone early on. It's not a case where he was simply looking for damage control, he probably would have had hardly any problems with Typsko if he hadn't hurt his arm. Whether Collazo hurt anything or not, he wasn't going to win.
-
Re: ~Collazo:"I hurt my left hand in the third round..... I hurt it in training"
Lacy would have walked through Typsko if he didn't hurt his arm. He was already walking through him in their first fight. He'll be back though.
Injuries in boxing happen. No fighter ever goes into or leaves a championship fight in 100% top notch condition. I wonder what context this was in. I wouldn't have much problem if someone asked, "were you 100% for this fight" but if he just said it to get it out there...boohoo.

their first fight was like 2 rounds 1? to say he would of walked through him is a bit of a fucking bold statement tbh

Tyspko had no answer for the right hand. He was getting hit at will by Lacy and had nothing to answer with. The headbutt was his saving grace. He wouldn't have lasted much longer imo.

there is a reaosn they fight over 10/12 rounds tho aint it...
Lacy in the second fight was the same, starte doff well catching him with that right, but often in fights when a guy is only really doing one thing they get caught out and are made to pay for it, what happens in the first couple of rounds is no freaking way to back an argument up that he would of walked through him lol...
lets not forget lacy caught Tsypko with a corker and didn't put him down or in to much trouble, Tsypko hurt lacy alot more tho
-
Re: ~Collazo:"I hurt my left hand in the third round..... I hurt it in training"
Lacy wasn't anywhere near as efficient in the first few rounds of the second fight as he was in the first. I know there is no way to tell for sure, but I really think that had the fight been extended 2 or 3 more rounds, Lacy would have had him out of there.

100% agreed about Lacy,cc. Lacy is real man, a warrior,I really don't see him making an injury up and taking a year off for no reason. Heck he even admitted JC beat his ass and didn't once make recourse to an injury.

Re: ~Collazo:"I hurt my left hand in the third round..... I hurt it in training"
Collazo is one of the fighters I hate the most....his style is crappy, he has worse tatoos than Mikkel Kessler, he's from New York and he has worse teeth than Jorge Arce or Leon Spinks
-
Re: ~Collazo:"I hurt my left hand in the third round..... I hurt it in training"
Yes, Collazo hurt his hand::** And I'm sure it would have made a difference since Shane fought the entire fight not punching him saying to him "hit me with your left hand and you win the fight!" ;D

Re: ~Collazo:"I hurt my left hand in the third round..... I hurt it in training"
And Collazo threw more punches then Mosley, Shane was just defensively better.
-
Re: ~Collazo:"I hurt my left hand in the third round..... I hurt it in training"
You can tell as the fight goes on if he hurt his hand in the fight. If he favours his hand after a certain round and does not throw it to much after, then you know he's not faking it.
-
Re: ~Collazo:"I hurt my left hand in the third round..... I hurt it in training"
After seeing the fight for the second time, I saw no evidence that he hurt his hand. He just got worked all there is to it, I think he threw punches the same and didnt wince like he was hurt.He was just getting drilled by some strong counters and got extra conservative offensively. He was in against a guy just as fast if not a little faster, and alot stronger. Im liking Shane back as a welterweight, adds even more fight possibilities in a deep division.

Just watched it on Youtube and your right...F*ck all wrong with him apart from heart and desire where nowhere to be seen.
He looked like a scared little boy from round 4 onwards and was outclassed in every department O0

I agree CutMeMick. in his corner he would just sit there with his eyes closed. It looked like me if i was in with Shane.

Here ya go...
http://www.fightnews.com/fightnews_2...FKattWHLh.html
A post-fight x-ray recommended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission revealed a fracture to Collazo's left hand.
Well...I think he still would have lost to Mosley even without injury... maybe with a bit more close decision...

Well there you go, now I believe him.
Hope he recovers and continues fighting and to be honest this can't be good for his future......
