Mosely v Cotto gunna happen if so who wins ?
This is a great matchup in the making i thought Shane looked ok in his last fight,
Cotto has so much promise and if his chin is stronger now he is no longer at 140lbs then he cud be a great welter champ.
Cotto is slow of foot compared to Shane but he just packs so much power and speed in his punches is a joy to watch. I think im not alone when i think of letting Cotto or Shane loose on Mayweather and trying to do us all a favour and shut his mouth!!!
So my guess is Shane by UD. or Cotto by KO
Wot do u guys think ?

Let's not forget that Mosley has pretty good power too....and with a much slower opponent like Cotto he would be able to load up alot more and get out of the way....I don't see Cotto beating Mosley....I saw Cotto destroying Hatton......but not Mosley....

Re: Mosely v Cotto gunna happen if so who wins ?
yea pretty good point im not so sure myself but it wud tell us how good Cotto is
i really like mosley hes just a good guy and can fight to

Re: Mosely v Cotto gunna happen if so who wins ?
I'd say Mosely wins over anyone from 147-154 right now except for PBF (which I think would be a close fight though)
Those divs look great right now. But against Mosley, anyone with power doesn't have the speed to outbox SSM. And anyone with speed doesn't have the power to hurt SSM with his great chin.
I like Cotto but he's just not quick enough to evade Mosley for very long. And with Mosley's work rate I think he could look quite spectacular against a Cotto.
But I wanted a SSM - Cotto fight because I wanted Mosley to look spectacular in a victory over Cotto that would surely set up a late 2007 SSM - PBF fight. Which would've been a beautiful close decision tactical match-up.

yeah...he got hit with some shots from Collazo but Collazo is really a good fighter..and fast...

Re: Mosely v Cotto gunna happen if so who wins ?
Mosley has the speed, but Coto has the power. Something, I think that will be an advantage for Coto is that, eventhough Mosley is the fastest he also like to stop and trade punches. This will be the chance for Coto to reach Mosley and make damage.
In this fight we will be able to see who is the best body puncher, I think they will look for the body a lot. But, Shane remember Coto's left hook to the body can be devastating...
This should be a very interesting fight because both like to fight...

Re: Mosely v Cotto gunna happen if so who wins ?
shane would beat cotto at this point
-
Re: Mosely v Cotto gunna happen if so who wins ?
Shane would be problematic for Cotto with his speed but Cotto's body assualts would give Shane a problem he has not really had before. And although Shane is very fast,Cotto is highly under rated in that department, his hand speed is deceptively quick. It would be a close fight but I think Cotto would win on points provided he does not take rounds off like he did at 140.

Re: Mosely v Cotto gunna happen if so who wins ?
i think mosley by UD. very quick fighter and he has the balls to take some of cotto's best shots to land his own.

Re: Mosely v Cotto gunna happen if so who wins ?
For those who are serioulsly following Cotto's rise....he's on a mission to be the Best of The Best!! From what I see, Urkal, Mosley, De La Hoya, Pretty Boy, Margarito and who ever I am missing but Paul Williams will be his true Challenge to Stardom! I just got back from Puerto Rico seeing Cotto's training camp, he's put on 7/8 pounds and will be a monster in this weight....pow, pow...you think he hitted hard, stay tune for Urkal and watch how Judah will pay some respect....

Re: Mosely v Cotto gunna happen if so who wins ?
Mosley all the way... I think ODLH hits as hard or harder than Cotto, and Mosley handled it.
-
Re: Mosely v Cotto gunna happen if so who wins ?
Agreed.
Plus Mosleys work rate is still looking impressive.
-
Re: Mosely v Cotto gunna happen if so who wins ?
You think ODLH hits harder than Cotto...are you smoking crack, when you say you (think) that to me is you are in doubt...well wake up and smell the coffee....everyone is talking about ODLH/PBMayweather..guess what Cotto will use them as stepping stone to his rise to stardom...Cotto's only true test will be Paul Williams..

Yeah I don't think that is a good barometer or useful example of Shane beating Cotto. And Oscar did hit hard at lower weight but whether he hits as hard as Cotto at 147 is questionable, where's the proof? Msoley also got hit by alot of shots early on by Collazo before Luis broke his hand,if someone like Cotto was allowed to land that much,Shane would be in big big trouble.

Re: Mosely v Cotto gunna happen if so who wins ?
Mosley just simply doesn't get hurt. It doesn't matter if Cotto punches to the head or body, nothing will phase Shane. Cotto will have problems with SSM's handspeed, hell anyone at 147 would, I'd say that the fight will probably end in a 116-112 or something like that for Mosley.

Re: Mosely v Cotto gunna happen if so who wins ?
Mosley gets hurt....he got knocked down vs Forrest!!!
Miguel Cotto just is a faster and younger and more powerful version of Fernando Vargas. If Cotto smacks Shane like Luis Collazo did then he will have a LOT of trouble

Are you sure about that? As Lyle quite rightly pointed out.SSM was dropped by Vernon and has never had to face a sustained body attack like the one Cotto would bring to the table.

EXACTLY!! Don't make Mosley out to be invincible,he's not,not at 147.

Re: Mosely v Cotto gunna happen if so who wins ?
yea cotto has big time power

all in all makes for a good matchup

People are making Cotto into a god. Mosley has hung with big punchers at 154. Remember, Mosley only legitimately has been "hurt" like once or twice in his long career, Cotto is the one that was getting hurt consistently at 140. Has anyone noticed that ever since the Torres fight Cotto has not been in there with a puncher? He's getting put in there with good fighters that can't hurt him, so he breaks them down eventually. Shane Mosley will have some pop at 147. It's funny how after a few good fights, people tend to forget Cotto's close calls. I'm not saying Cotto doesn't have a chance but Mosley should beat Cotto. Mosley is quicker, faster, smarter, has a pretty good edge in handspeed, has better footwork, has the experience, has a better chin, and just might have the same power Cotto has at 147.

All true....but Shane is on the way down....Miguel is on the way up.
And Shane didn't have to worry about being weight drained when he was at his lowest weight class. Miguel did....he fights a good 20 pounds over the limit at 140-147.
Shane is a tough top tier fighter and an all-time great but Miguel is still improving....he may be able to upset Shane eventhough he doesn't have the style to do it the way it has been done before
