Amir Khan beats Kevin Mitchell tommorow and is already European Champion quality

I say he batters him silly to be honest and i think i've seen enough of young Amir already to realise HE IS the real deal.
Getting stronger with every fight now and his KO power and handspeed seem superb.

I know a guy who fought Khan about 3 years ago, it was the first and only time this lad has ever been off his feet (he's top 10 England) and he said he has never faced anything like it - said he was just too good!!

Looking forward to the next few years and seeing just how good he is

Medjaji is a powderpuff punching superfeatherweight that turned up to fight Khan knowing he had zero chance of winning. Khan threw a great punch and KO'd him. Thats all I learned.

If he's European class already that must give him the beating of Jon Thaxton?

mitchell is top quality in my opinon, i think kahn needs another 6 or 7 fights before he goes in against thaxton mitchell or people in that class, experience is essential, the drilzan fight was so good for him he should do thatweight more often so when he does come down he will have learned to fight when he cant knock his opponent out or even hurt him

As for Mitchell ;D I can see the ref stopping that one in Khan's favour 8)

I agree, I think Khan is being brought along at an ok pace. He needs to step up a bit now though. Mayweather was world chmapion in his 17th fight, Khan needs to get a move on if he wants to come close to that.

I'd like to see him take another learning fight in April, one more in July, a better opponent in Sep and go for either Thaxton or Earl in December.

He can then go into 2008 aiming to clean up domestically and look for a world title shot in 2009.

He doesn't need to rush it. 22 or 23 is young to become a world champ.

I think that the Hardcore amongst us are starting to wake up to the fact that we have a genuine World Champion potential on our hands here.
I also think Warren is doing fine with him.
All he really needs imo is rounds to be complete 8)
I'm starting to get very excited by what i see from Khan these days :)

I was still very dubious even when Kindelan threw the 'return lets launch Amir's pro career in high profile style with a fix fight.
Huge difference between Am's and Pro's and i honestly didn't think he was as good as he now seems to be.

Khan IMO needs more rounds come on KM has a lot more ring experience and fought at 12 rounds. i think i would tilt towards Khan but i wouldnt totally count KM out. he is a good solid fighter and he himself needs a big name. Earl-KM would be kool to see.

I don't believe Thaxton to be European class. He needed 3 attempts at the British title and failed with a Commonwealth title bid so to me that says he is a good domestic fighter and apart from fitness and heart he doens't have what it takes to make Amir think enough and he doesn't have what it takes to get out of the way of Amir's punches. Amir does need to prove he can comfortably do 12 rounds before fighting him tho IMO.

He'd ruin Thaxton with ease and is too big,strong and fast for Mitchell 8)

I'm just shooting in the dark here because i've only seen khan on youtube and dont know who these other people are but apparently they'd launch him to some type of world level ??? :-\

Mitchell fights at the lower weight and is also a Frank Warren fighter so it could be a no no on that score.
Thaxton is strong and has a big heart but would be target practice for Khan imo and he is 32 and not a speed merchant.
Thaxtons world ranking is 15 or 16 so that for me would be a good route to go down.
Khan still needs a good few 10/12 round fights (if he can get them) before hand though.

He's not fought any world class fighters yet for sure but they definitely arn't all Audley Harrison style opponents.

Most of his opponents have had winning records, some on paper had pretty good records, 7-0, 11-1 etc.

The thing that has impressed me about Khan is that in his 11 or whatever fights he's barely lost more than 3 or 4 rounds.

The kid has impressed every single time out. He's been reckless at times and showed his inexperience but you can't point to a single fight in his young professional career so far and say he looked lacklustre.

His hardest fight, if you can call any of them hard was a 4 or 6 rounder against some foreign bloke about a year ago. He got careless and his opponent landed a couple flush in 1 round. I remember the ref still gave every round to Khan in that fight which was definitely not deserved but he still clearly won.

Anyway since then Khan has tightened up his defense a bit, he doesn't leap around all over the place any more either. He plants his feet, patiently looks for an openening and is now starting to get some power behind his shots.

I would say quite confidently that right now he is the number 1 prospect in the world, ahead of Andre Ward and even ahead of Berto.

Questions remain as to how well he can take a punch but he's coming along real nicely now.

He needs a nickname too imo and i agree with Bilbo that he is the Worlds hottest prospect at present and so exciting to watch.
