IM A MASSIVE TYSON FAN AND BELIEVE A PEAK TYSON OF 1988 WOULD HAVE KNOCKED A PEAK LENNOX LEWIS OUT WITH IN 3 ROUNDS. WHEN THE PAIR ACTUALLY MET IN 2002 LENNOX WERE'NT FAR PAST HIS PEAK BUT TYSON WAS PAST IT BUT STILL MANAGED 8 ROUNDS WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK
he managed 8 rounds because he wanted to punish tyson for what he said to lewis and what he done to lewis if lewis can survive early onslaught through first 4 rounds he then starts to frustrate tyson and wins decision or possibly stop tyson lateQuote:

Because there were two Lennox Lewises.
One peak Lennox Lewis who you know was gonna have a good night when he threw 30 jabs a round.
And the other Lennox Lewis who stepped into the ring with Ocean's Eleven or whatever else on his mind.
The thing is most of Tyson's opponents were mentally KOed before even stepping in the ring.
But a prime peak motivated Lewis who constantly works off his jab causes problems for Tyson all night.
Mike was human. And he wasn't invincible. And he has been prone to becoming discouraged when his shots weren't landing.
It would not be an easy victory and Lewis will have to take some heat early on but if we're talking peak for peak, Lewis' jab wins.

There's an easy answer to this question. Lewis was terrified of prime tyson, wanted none of him. In the buildup to Tyson/Lewis, Lewis himself said he was thrilled when Tyson didn't make the Olympic team, and also said he wouldn't even have considered stepping into the ring with Tyson in his prime.
His personal life and later ring failures kind of tarnish his legend, but the fact remains that prime tyson is the most destructive force in the history of boxing. Period.

Lewis who is still a year away from hitting the pros being afraid of a man 35 fights into his pro career makes perfect sense to me.
Obviously Tyson always has a huge puncher's chance, but I think a Peak Lewis wins the decision. I think he'd win it with the jab and would tie Tyson up whenever he got in close.
I go for Prime Lewis.
That jab would of frustrated him.
Lennox had the skills,power and ring generalship to of beaten a prime Tyson IMO.
Lennox was also 10 levels above any Prime Tyson opponent.

First off Lennox wins hands down, he's the better fighter, smarter, had a good game plan and used his skills VERY WELL.
Secondly, if I bring up Marciano-Tyson as a hypothetical bout all the Tyson fanatics give one reason Tyson beats Rocky......SIZE.....in this case Lennox Lewis in his prime 6'5 250 and Mike Tyson in his prime 5'10 218-220....there is a HUGE size difference there....6 inches in height, 30-40 pounds, and no telling how much in reach.....you can't have it both ways Tyson fans!
I'm not trying to dis Mike Tyson but his experiences out of his prime showed more of his flaws and his troubles with certain styles than his prime years....not because HIS skill level deteriorated so much but it was more of a case of his opponents were better....Holyfield, Lewis, Rudduck, Golota......those guys were FAR better than anyone Tyson had fought before then and that's just a FACT.
Tysons skills evaporated at an alarming rate after 92 and his confidence with it. He forgot what his feet were for.
Lets not forget tyson fought holyfield,golota and ruddock too

That is the problem with tyson his glory days were over so quickly and also when tyson was at his peak he was early 20's lennox was late 30's so it is hard to match them ive always said tyson would win easy but thats why i did this for others opinions. If they fought 10 times, a prime Lewis beats a prime Tyson 7-8 times.
Lennox got knocked out by Hasim Rahman in his prime in 5 rounds yes he got revenge but that should'nt have happend Tyson would have knocked Lennox out no probs
Lewis was not in his prime (state of mind & conditioning) for the first Rahman. Lewis had grown overly confident and lazy and side tracked with a movie I think. If you think the above would occur if Lewis ever fought Tyson you are mistaken.
Lewis was in his mid-30s, weighed over 250 pounds, and hadn't shown up in South Africa ahead of time to get adjusted to the altitude.Quote:
