After listening to the bile-inducing stuff coming out of PBF, Toney and Brigg's mouth, I'm growing weary of this feigned hyperbole. It's getting old. What do you think? ???

I like trash-talking, it's part of the game, part of the entertainment.
The only words out of a fighter's mouth that bother me are when a guy gets soundly beaten and refuses to admit it in the postfight interviews. That's a pet peeve of mine.
A recent example of this would be when Toney was clearly beaten by Peter in the rematch, and refused to acknowledge that he was beaten.
I love all the trash talking! These fights won't sell themselves (unless Gatti is in them) and fighters have to hype up themselves, and the paying public.
I mean take the De La Hoya Mayorga fight, Mayorga calling Oscar a queer and telling him he was hoping to detach his eye retinas.
Then in the fight Oscar battered the living shit out of the mouthy kunt and the world went crazy!
I was gutted as I was rooting for El Matador but you couldn't fault the quality of the smack talk, the entertainment value or the beatdown Oscar gave out.
To me that fight showcased boxing at it's finest.
I mean the whole sport is based on two guys beating the living crap out each other. It seems almost absurd to expect them to do it nicely and with good manners....
Press conference trash talk I enjoy.
I don't like "I'm-a-guest-on-Friday-Night-Fights" trash talk.
I kinda like it, even if it makes the guy look like a prat!
(tried to sneak an english word in there...hope I used it right!)
It's a part of boxing. A good part. What you rather they hold hands and tell each how great they think each other is?Quote:

Good point, Daxx.Quote:

I like trash talking. But especially the subliminal trash talkers like Thomas Hearns. Like before the Leonard fight.
Ray Leonard was saying "Boy you better be ready. Pop pop pop pop that sgonna be your head!"
And Hearns said "Thats fine..all I'll need is one shot.."
Then Leonard dipped his head and shook it slowly and everyone laughed.
Back when trash talking was like that it was very fun ;D

Same Gatti that called Floyd a wife beater and said it motivated him to beat the shit out of him ???Quote:

When he beat KT he said that KT had given him his number an said phone me any time if you need advice an Rick was stoked, he'll probably keep in touch with JLC after the fight and when he did ring walk with MAB he likes mixing with the boxing elite so if the chance to have a bit of scram an a beer with someone of JLCs caliber comes up hes grabbed it with both hands, don't think theres owt sinster in it.Quote:

They're the ones training and devoting their lives to the sport, they should be allowed to act however they want to despite who they are or aren't pissing off. Honestly, I wouldn't want to watch a press conference, for example, between Shane and ODLH because they'd just be sucking each other cocks for an hour, I like the PBF-ODLH press conference because there's conflict, it's funny, it's entertaining, and it's getting people that might not be boxing fans amped up about watching the fight. Not everyone can be a quiet nice guy, and that's what's awesome about sports, because for every Marvin Harrison, Tim Duncan, and Shane Mosley, you have a TO, Gilbert Arenas, and a Ricardo Mayorga.Quote:

I would not necessarily equate silence with being nice to wit: Hagler.Quote:

Yes...like Klit!
Hahaha!! This is a smattering of one of Ted The Bulls threads.... This is the same guy who said he hoped Daxx kid died when he was in a coma:rolleyes:
Another one gone thank God
Its a massive part of boxing.. either you do understand or should understand a boxers ego is a massive thing.. ESPECIALLY .. a world class boxer.. you see the guys not only are the best and tough as hell.. but with all the reputation and hype they get its almost impossible not to have this attitude about you..
You almost need to act in a certain way and be of a certain mindset especially when you know a fight is coming up.. because its all business and your head has to be there, you have to have disdain for your opponent and want to hurt them, and take them out.
Plus frankly mayorga is the king ..Lol His are just insults.. No self flattery..
He just wants fathers day cards and to talk about your mother and your family.. Lol
Toney is also pretty special.. They are like comedians.. They are either just brilliant at coming up with stuff on the spot or they actually write some of this stuff cos what they come out with is GOLD.. Lol.. I wouldnt be suprised if toney sat at home chuffing a cigar writing out his post fight interviews ;D:D:lickish:
The trash talking doesn't bother me so much if it's backed up for two reasons. First it's usually funny and second it's even funnier when the person or team can't back up what they say. It's just like the people who cry about celebrations in the NFL. If you hate the TD celebrations then don't let them score, there is an easy way to shut up floyd......beat him. Yea it' looks like floyds gonna be talking for a long while. It's amazing how much people hate showboating trash talking but the people that hate it the most always are the ones to bring it up. Reminds me of how much people hated T.O. yet they followed him around waiting for him to do something so they could report how much they hated it. Hate trash talking...don't listen to it. If no one reacted to these peoples crap they wouldn't do it, but everytime floyd talks he knows we'll be here talking about it (us in general) once again the people that hate him most make him the most popular.
Yeah agree with most people trash talking is all part of the event and i would be dissapointed if the fighters didn't do it before hand. Tyson has got to be my fav just becuase of the daft stuff he has come out with:
" I'm the best ever. I'm the most brutal and vicous and most ruthless champions there's ever been. There's no one who can stop me. Lennox is conquerer?NO Im Alexander! He's no alexander! I;m the best ever. There's never been anybody as ruthless. I'm Sonny Liston, I'm jack Dempsey. There's no one like me........ theres no one that can match me! My style is impetuous, my defence is impregnable, and I'm frecious! I want your heart, I want to eat his children.Praise be to Allah!"
that will go down in history as a classic as far as im concerned.
I like a mix between self praise and trash talk. Ali and Tyson both mastered that, and as such, raised a shit load of money for each of their fights ( though having amazing skills didn't hurt )
One of my favorites is the Tyson-Ruddock interview, featuring such classics as: " How dare you talk to me like that, you should kneel before me now and I'll spare you on the night of the 28th " and " I can't wait till the 28th, I'm gonna make you my girlfriend. " and my personal favorite: " You're sweet, you make sure you kiss me good with those big lips. "
Now, THAT is how you talk shit and raise money for a fight.
