I go for Woods ;D
Calzaghe - probably even convincingly (unless Calzaghe is seriously starting to decline)
At LHW i think that both Dawson, Erdei and probably even Adamek are tougher challenges than Woods. Hopkins perhaps too.
Which is exactly why Woods, despite the disagreements between promoters, is still a very likely opponent.
Woods is a hard man though if glenn could'nt stop him how could Joe and Clinton is'nt afraid to have a war i don't think Joe as it in him to have a war
Where do you get this impression that Calzaghe is looking for easy opponents ???Quote:

Joe would be a desrving favourite but I wouldnt write off Clinton
The Sheffield fighter has improved dramatically since the days in which he was beating Mark Baker at teh Albert hall and losing on points to David Starie. He needed to move up to lightheavy and since he's been there ive seen him tuck up to overwhelm dangerous guys like Ole Klemetson and Crawford Ashley . Ofcourse he was out of his depth against Roy Jones but his career has been on the up since , turning round that decison to Johnson and now i'd say he was in his prime.
Joe would have to be at his best cuz Clinton would make it tough from start to finish . Joe however is a speedy guy with a highworkrate . Clinton is abit slow to get going and doesnt inject enough pace when he needs to and this is what separates them IMO.
tysonbruno whilst i agree that everyone is enitiled to their own opinion i also think that you are mad. first i read that you think witter would stop hatton in 10 and now your picking woods over calzaghe. nah i dont think so boss. woods is hard but so is calzaghe and joe is too quick for clinton i reckon. UD for joe. easily.
Clintons not at his best against southpaw movers, Joe would give him big problems.
Clinton is one tough motherfucker, even though I think Joe wins this relatively easily Woods makes it competetive and interesting. He has improved a lot recently, he's got lots of top-level experience, three wars with Glen Johnson and is a legitimate title holder. If sticks to his boxing, moves around the ring, then he can win. If he tries to brawl with Clinton it'll be harder coz Woods loves a good scrap.
Isn't Woods meant to be fighting Roy Jones Jnr next tho?
I think it would be pretty similar to wen roy jones fought Clinton Woods. Woods isn't quick enough to get out of the way of Calzaghe's punches. I see Calzaghe basically doing what Roy Jones did to Woods, but maybe to a slightly lesser extent, over 12 rounds for a wide UD.
Calzaghe is too good for Woods. Woods would edge a few rounds but Calzaghe is too quick and busy for him....
Now Calzaghe wins on point (im guessing we are asuming calzaghe doesnt brake a hand) - Woods is sto slow, calzaghe is a fast starter and high work rate, woods is to open, calzaghe has fantastic strait punches that will be getting woods smack in the face from round 1 untill round 12, woods has good power but nothing special, and calaghe has a fantastic chin.
Prime for prime, i would expect calzaghe to put woods out of there in around 6-8 rounds. Calzaghe would never have trouble finding the target with woods, he is way to easy to hit IMO, and back when calzaghe had power he would just be hitting woods with ease and hurting him badly, i don't see woods doing far with him then.
this would be same as calzaghe vs richie woodhall woods has his moment but calzaghe stops him late on
Calzaghes to fast and talented for Woods.
Be a good fight though. Shame it wont happen. Fucking promoters.
i thought winner of glen johnson vs woods 3 would get shot at calzaghe whatever happened to that ::**Quote:

Joe get's his share of the money they make too you know.
The fight has'nt happend because Joe was ringside when Woods fought Johnson and realised if he fought either of them he would have a fight on his hands and why fight a tough fight when he can fight manfredo and probably get more money doing it.Joe is a legend in his own head he will never have a career defining fight.
Rewind 12 months and Jeff Lacy was 'the career defining fight.' Joe won it so convincingly it convinced the americans that Lacy was pure hype. There aint no fighter out there who Joe can beat without critics coming up with a ton of reasons why its not a great win.Quote:

winky wright.......Too small for him and 'Joe's style' would give Joe the advantage (very busy fighter throws a lot of combo's - winky doesn't fire back until opponent stops throwing
jermain Taylor....Too small for him. Despite beating D-Hop twice and drawing with Winky he has not been that convincing anyway.
Mikkel Kessler.....Would be labelled all hype if Calzaghe was to school him.....like Lacy but european so that makes if worse....right?
Librado Andrade.....He's just a prospect anyway and he won't fight Calzaghe unless he beats Kessler
Bernard Hopkins.....Past his prime even tho he has just schooled Antonio Tarver (who is alledgedly shit anyway cos he only beat a 'past it' roy jones) Don't get me started on that 1 anyway. Roy Jones already beaten Hopkins anyway so Calzaghe wouldn't get that much credit.
Clinton Woods......Already been beaten by Glenn Johnson and schooled by Roy Jones. So again he's never going to come close to getting Roy Jones like status by beating fighters Jones has already beaten.
Glenn Johnson.....Old man, just lost to Clinton Woods......enough said.
I don't think there is anyone out there that would shut his critics up.All of his rivals seem to have beaten each other anyway. I can only hope Roy Jones get's a fantastic victory under his belt in his next fight and these 2 can get it on. I can hear the critics calling already.........
well said cc
Good pot and very true CCQuote:

I think the only fight he could possibly take is Chad Dawson now he's the champ at light heavy....but again, the prospect thing comes into it.
The biggest fight out there is Joe Calzaghe, but thats not too likely to happen for political reasons, but there are a few other options. Chad Dawson and Zsolt Erdei spring to mind, the Roy Jones rematch has been openly talked about too. He might catch Calzaghe at the end of their careers, that'd be a good fight for them both go out on.
