How good is Carl Froch?
-
Re: How good is Carl Froch?
I don't know how good he is. But he certainly haven't proven feck all yet.
Cruising against a SMW no.127 rated opponent (Dodson - last fight) does NOT equal being competitive against world level opposition.
The fact that Froch has yet to achieve ANYTHING, despite being already fairly old, leads me to believe he's not the second comming.. as some would have you believe.
His completely intolerable self-promovation, constant praising himself is beyond belief.
I really hope someone will beat him to a pulp very soon. I expect it to happen whenever he faces ANYONE inside top 10.
Would rate him about the level of Manfredo - about as deserving as Manfredo. Just manny times more annoying.

I wouldn't take too much notice of his age. He's a fresh 29 year old. Remember he only turned pro in 2002.

Re: How good is Carl Froch?
He minds me a lot of Ryan Rhodes and Shea Neary.
-
Re: How good is Carl Froch?
not very is the answer
wots he waiting for hes already in the late 20's ?
-
Re: How good is Carl Froch?
his attitude stincks and he is a fighter who you could easily dislike. not a bad fighter though but with his low lead hand he gets hit sometimes when he shouldnt. if he comes up against a hard hitting fighter like lacy he could get put on his arse.
-
Re: How good is Carl Froch?
Whether you like him or not he's in entertaining fights.
Barring Calzaghe and Kessler - Froch wouldn't be out of place against anyone in the division.
-
Re: How good is Carl Froch?
Carl Froch is one of the best men at 168 you wait and see. I say this time and time again he will be up there fighting for a title soon and i think he can be the champion without a doubt. Carl has shown every fight what he is capable of and he improves all the time, i dont think a lot of people take that on board. In his next 2-3 fights he really needs to show that he is the man to beat 168 and i really think that will be the case. He is stopping all of his oppanents and look what happened to Magee. I seriously think Carl will beat everyone at 168, and the longer JC dont fight the more i favour carl.
IMO ;D

why do you say that? being honest in 2 years time JC aint geting any better and i personally can only see Carl gettin better. JC will be 36 and way past it. If you read what i said....i said the longer he leaves it the more chance carl has of winning. I DIDNT SAY HE WOULD LOSE! i would just favour carl better. It will be a lot harder for JC to take on carl in 2 years, than he did now.
and why dont i have any knowledge?

You clown. Tam's age should have no bearing on his opinion. Your Basically saying he's too young to know anything about Calzaghe. That's like Saying CutMeMick is young to talk about Sugar Ray Leanord or Smashup is to young to talk about Ali or Bilbo is too young to talk about Marciano.
From his previous posts i can make my own assesment of his knowledge and it is far greater than yours.
Getting back to the topic ;D
I think Froch does have it in him to be a world champion. He has a lot of power and he's awkward with a very good chin. I don't know if he is good enough to beat Calzaghe but i would give him a decent shout against anybody else.......including Kessler.
-
Re: How good is Carl Froch?
cheers for back up bro ;D

Re: How good is Carl Froch?
Froch has a lot to do if he is to amount to anything on the world level. I dont rate him too highly, and dont think he will amount to that much...

Maybe cuz your post gives the impression that you don't know shit about boxing. Read your post again. See how foolish it is.

Re: How good is Carl Froch?
At being a Cock hes fuckin worldclass if not P4P all time great.
-
Re: How good is Carl Froch?
Although carl froch probably isnt gonna be an amazing fighter i do feel hes got the tools to get to the top of a fairly averege division as he has power nd a gd chin aswell as gd offensive ability so i think that will be enough to win him a world title as i have seen fighters with less ability win world titles. Although i do agree he one of the most arrogant and annoying boxers ive ever seen i do feel he has a chance against any smw out there

Being honest why is it foolish? its just the truth when you think about it. You probs dont like Carl thats is why you dont belive he can be a 168 champ! which i think he can.

Froch is an arrogant bastard,so it will (hopefully) be a grudge fight against Calzaghe or Kessler,I would love to see Froch getting a real bloody beating.Froch only has a big mouth and Calzaghe or Kessler will close it

Improving? According to him he's there. He's the best out there. What the hell does he need to improve? And the level of opposition hasn't improved by much.

Re: How good is Carl Froch?
Mikkel Kessler fought and beat Henry Porras at around the 30 fight mark. Froch fought him after 14 starts and got the job done quicker.
His progress is fine. He should get the Lonsdale belt wrapped up as quick as possible and then vacate. Treading water to accomodate mandatories wont do him any good at all.
In answer to the question asked he is big, strong, good puncher and a good chin. He will prove a handfull for any S middleweight out there, including the big two.

None whats so ever. But I tell you what. I'll give him credit if continues to improve his competition level. There's plenty of fighters Froch can face that will earn him respect besides the current top 2. Lucian Bute, Denis Inkin, Juergen Braehmer. Jean Paul Mendy,. Robert Stieglitz. Who the fuck are they? There nobodies. Just like Froch. But like Froch. They think they are. They all got nice pretty records. They think there prospects. Let them fight and see who's right. I'll give Froch a hell of of a lot more respect if he fought one of these guys as oppose to facing a shot fighter like Robin Ried.

Yeh i agree with VD there. Fighing Robin Reid means fuck all after what Lacy did to him. Out of the British veterans there is Magee and Reid and he has already knocked Magee out so thats that. Forget domestic and move onto world level. And Vd is correct in saying, if Froch cannot get a fight against any of the top 5, he should fight a prospect from another country. If he proves he's the best prospect out there, nobody will be able to deny him his shot.
But his level of opposition needs to improve dramitically. Dale Westerman and Tony Dodson are hardly gate keepers to world class. That wouldn't be a problem for any other prospect in their 20th fight but Froch is 28 (i think) so he needs to get a move on.

Re: How good is Carl Froch?
Froch has everything. Speed, Power,Granite Jaw, Fitness, Stamina.
He is not fighting Robin Reid. Reid Mouthed off on some radio show what he would do to Froch and then went quiet when offered the fight.
Problem is no one wants to fight The Cobra. Hes never been hurt or tired in his career. Yes he mouths off at times but to be fair has always backed it up in the ring and could knock out Calzaghe or Kessler with either hand.
Manfredo Jr gets a shot and hes nothing but a Gameshow loser who lost to Light Welterweight Alfonzo Gomez.
Yes Calzaghe is fighting someone who has lost to someone same size as Junior Witter. This is a complete Joke.
Everyone is Running Scared. Will end up winning WBC belt from Kessler as mandatory while Calzaghe fights guys smaller than him.
Brian Magee is a good fighter who was due to fight Calzaghe a while back. Froch proper sparked him out.
You dont rate him cos you dont like him. FACT.
Nobody liked Chris Eubank cos of percieved arrogange. Until he beat up Benn. Froch is Number one SMW.

If Froch really wanted to he could of fought Lirando Andrade to see who the real top prospect was. But he didn't. Much easier to avoid him and than cry nobody wants to fight him.

Correct me if im wrong here, but hasnt Carl Froch called JC many a time? does this not show he thinks he is ready? He is steeping up in match ups and i feel the fight after Robin Reid will be a higher standard again. I think Carl is working his way up and if the chance to fight JC was on the table do you really think he would say no?

I thought that Froch offered Reid the fight, but Reid wanted nothing to do with it.
Froch is a decent fighter, but can be lazy. I think he is one of those fighters who improves with the opponent he is fighting. Unfortunately he needs to fight bigger opposition, but sadly he falls into the category of to much risk, not enough reward, ala Witter. The only way for him to make it up there is to wait it out for a mandatory spot.

Much easier to avoid him and than cry nobody wants to fight him.
c'mon VD - he just picks up the phone and agree's a date huh?
Librado has the Golden Boy backing him into the world-title shot, so he aint gonna go for a riskier/less rewarding match-up in Froch is he?
Denis Inkin is a bloody dangerous cat and Lucien Bute is a handful too.
After this next fight, you will have a yard-stick to measure him against the above 2 ;)
