Froch returns March 23!
Froch returns March 23!
Tickets have gone on sale for the Hennessy Sports promoted event at the Nottingham Arena on March 23rd featuring British and Commonwealth super middleweight champion Carl Froch (20-0, 16 KOs). The local hero will feature in a twelve-rounder against a "highly ranked international opponent" to be announced shortly. "I had hoped to make another defense of my British Title by knocking out Robin Reid," said Froch yesterday. "As a former world champion that would have been a good scalp on my record, but he's bottled it so I will be looking to build on my International experience. I am ready to step up now and I would like to be challenging for a world title later this year. I could fight for the European, but there are a lot of politics around the super middleweight title at the moment and I don't want to get held up. I am already number three in the world and there are some massive fights out there for me. My next opponent will be a major step towards them."

Re: Froch returns March 23!
Sergey Tatesyavan
;)
Took Bute to a points decision last Novemeber (?)
Froch will spark him inside 4 rounds.
Brutal KO on the way.
-
Re: Froch returns March 23!
Where did you hear that it's him he's fighting?
Can't find anything as yet on his next opponent :-\,Froch needs to step up this year and take out a World known fighter at some stage ;)
We like the Cobra here and i am a massive fan of him!

Re: Froch returns March 23!
If thats true then its treading water isnt it? Tatevosyans a hard case and will give Froch work but he should be moving past that level.
I dont think he won a round against Bute.
-
Re: Froch returns March 23!
yeah I agree
It's not that Tatevosyan is such a bad opponent but he'll turn-up knowing he wont win.
-
Re: Froch returns March 23!
whoever its against its should be a step in the right direction for CF! i really think this will be a good year for him and he will be up there soon.
-
Re: Froch returns March 23!
I like Froch, He maybe a bit arrogant but you have to have confidence in your own ability to be a good boxer. I am looking forward to watching his next fight but I hope he fights some tougher opponents this year.
-
Re: Froch returns March 23!
Maybe he'll go after Evans Ashira.... then have an almighty showdown with 'Hobbit' Peter Manfredo ?
They are 2 damn tough opponents LOL :D
Maybe he'll get a sack load of respect if he beats Ashira inside 12 rounds?
Then he can go on to go the distance with Bika - but this time aim to be uncut/ unbruised ?
;)
-
Re: Froch returns March 23!
you can see that froch is arrogant but he's just a frip frap chatting notting lad like the rest of us and its not like he doesnt back it up. i thin hes trying to upshow bute and i'll be there back home to watch it for once!. bigger and better things are on the way...i just hope when hes in with someone with power he can respect that and keep his left hand up

Sorry mate, don't do North of Watford unless i fly ;D

Re: Froch returns March 23!
Be nice if Froch could get a fight with the new IBF champ Berrio. He already has the beating of him on form, and with Froch having the better chin you'd have to fancy him strongly....plus we'd see how good Froch's chin really is, making for a great fight ;)
-
Re: Froch returns March 23!
That's the route i expect Hennesey sports to take ;).
Should take out him no problem imo too and it would be a great stepping stone to a Kessler fight as i just can't see Calzaghe going anywhere near Froch.
-
Re: Froch returns March 23!
FW says Froch already turned down a Calzaghe fight...probably not as simple as it seems, but still ;) (anyone know the details?)
And Calzaghe would smash the living shit out of Froch and totally muller him. Think of all the Adamu, Porras, Westmen and Magee punches bounding into that big head. Now think of Calzaghe and multiply the speed, power and ability by about a million.
Froch would bring nothing more than a decent punch and strength. No where near enough to compete with Calzaghe.
-
Re: Froch returns March 23!
If Froch is using Tatevosyan's loss to Bute as some kind of measuring stick he is going to have to go some to better him. If he doesnt dominate him on the cards that makes him no better than the three fight novice Tatevosyan lost to previously ;D
Froch would have to up his game plenty ot put a dent in Calzaghe. He'd probably also need Calzaghe to be off the boil as well.
-
Re: Froch returns March 23!
haha
I know for a FACT I saw Tatevosyan fight Eastman... BUT it was so shit I can't remember anything about it, and I'm sure it wasn't all Eastmans fault.

I don't think it would be a good idea to face Froch with Berrio that f*cker Berrio hits like a ton of bricks. IMO I don't think it be the smart route to a title by going after Berrio. If Berrio could get some defence in his game plan he'd be the best around....
But he throws caution to the wind cause he knows hes got mad power and if he catches you it's lights out....

Re: Froch returns March 23!
Froch has a cracking chin and KO power so that would be a great matchup 8)

Froch hoping for Nottingham Double
2 March 2007
Carl Froch is hoping himself and his beloved Nottingham Forest can complete a double ‘promotion’ this year.

Froch faces Russian Sergey Tatevosyan as top-of-the-bill on the Hennessy Sports ‘Cobra’s Hood’ event at the Nottingham Arena on March 23rd as he looks to secure an eliminator for one of the four major world title belts later this year.
The international 12-round contest at Championship weight is an opportunity for the unbeaten British and Commonwealth super-middleweight champion, (20-0, 16 knock-outs), to improve even further on his world rankings.
Froch, 29, is already rated third in the world by the WBC and fifth by both the IBF and WBO. Last time out he scored a stunning KO over long-term rival Tony Dodson in front of his loving home-town fans.
Just as Froch is aiming to rise further up the ranks to mandatory challenger status, he hopes Forest can continue their progress in their quest to win promotion to the Championship this season.
League One side Forest are in the play-off places, and Froch is confident of their chances after regularly watching their home games.
The City Ground season-ticket holder said: “We’re going up this season. For a big club, it’s a bit demoralising being in the third division but we have already proved we are the top team in the league. Hopefully it will continue.
“I go down to every Nottingham Forest home game now as I’ve got a season ticket. I’m an avid fan. I would like to get to the away games, but because of my training and the time it takes, I can’t.
“I know Kris Commons well and I get to go in the players’ lounge afterwards so I speak to a few of them. I am on friendly terms with the manager Colin Calderwood and everyone is very welcoming to me down there.
“I use their gym down there and they treat me like one of the players, which is great.
“Kris can’t get to the fight because the players are not allowed out so late before playing on the Saturday, but he said they will be watching at the hotel. They are all behind me, like I am them.”
Froch hopes to appear himself at the City Ground one day.
He said: “I’ve got a massive fan base in Nottingham and a great relationship with the club, so the potential is there for a massive crowd at Forest.
“It’s going to get bigger as I keep winning. I could take over the scene in the next year or so. I could be the name and face of British boxing for the next five years if I do the business in the ring.”

True. But if Berrio doesn't catch you he ends up with his lights out.
He's never done 12 rounds, has been KO'd 4 times and been KO'd by a Froch victim - Porras.
At the very least Froch has a punchers chance, but the form also points to him...What chance does Froch have against Calzaghe or Kessler? Well I can tell you for nothing a much worse chance than against Berrio. ;)

Re: Froch returns March 23!
Now's the time to come out and say I don't like Froch. I feel better now. O0
-
Re: Froch returns March 23!
What is it you dislike?
The daft pornish name of the night in question ;D
-
Re: Froch returns March 23!
I think he's a tit. Don't like arrogant fighters, never have. I see someone with decent power & reflexes but not the great boxing skills he seems to think he has.

Re: Froch returns March 23!
Isnt "steps up to the next level" breaching advertising laws?
;D

Re: Froch returns March 23!
I think you might be on to something ;D

Re: Froch returns March 23!
I think his self confidence just comes across as arrogance really and i admire confident people,i also think he'll be a world champ within 18 months ;)
Hold me to that 8)

Mathew Barney?
Where you here that mate....
-
Re: Froch returns March 23!
One thing is certain......
The Cobra is getting a good amount of attention here and...
The whole Froch package is huge, his Nottingham fanbase is huge and his arrogant fighting style (regardless of what we all think) is always exciting to watch, like Hamed imo it's the combination of a mad style/low hands and total contempt for his opponent
with brutal ko power and in particular his devastating right uppercut ;).
If im wrong then that's life ;D but i think (and have done for a while now) he'll be a World title holder within 18 months.
People should forget any thoughts of him 'Changing his style' etc because he won't ever,he has tried to a few times but lasts 2 rounds tops then goes back to the norm style.
Rate him highly 8)

Re: Froch returns March 23!
Bute decided to give tricky Barney a swerve ;)
-
Re: Froch returns March 23!
Bute traded Barney for an IBF Title Eliminator against Sakio Bika in June.
;D
