Froch to face Tatevosyan next
Carl Froch will take on Sergey Tatevosyan in Nottingham on March 23.
And the 29-year-old hopes that defeating the Russian will help him secure a world title shot by the end of the year.
The unbeaten British and Commonwealth super-middleweight champion will face Tatevosyan in a 12-round international fight at championship weight in front of his home fans at the Nottingham Arena, live on Sky Sports.
Froch is ranked third by the WBC and fifth by the IBF and WBO world governing bodies and hopes beating Tatevosyan will help earn him a final eliminator for a world title. Read more...

WBC Ranking...
25 .- Sergey Tatevoysan (Russia)
Hardly a step towards a world title shot is it!

Re: Froch to face Tatevosyan next

Re: Froch to face Tatevosyan next
Whats this guys record? "
Only the elite fighters have beaten him" not a world beater then his he Froch looks set for another win on his record.

Re: Froch to face Tatevosyan next
Def. not a step forward to a title I think this Tatevoysan just lost against Lucian Bute not too long ago....
I think Bute blasted him out....
-
Re: Froch to face Tatevosyan next
Ive said it before and I will say it again. Froch is not going to be a world level fighter. I seriously doubt it.
-
Re: Froch to face Tatevosyan next
He's lost 2 out of his last 3 fights,how stat a step forward ???
-
Re: Froch to face Tatevosyan next
Tatevosyan isn't a bad opponent but at this stage you know he'll turn up without much ambition of winning...
At least he'll be a decent guide. ;)

Actually he went 12 rounds with Bute a month ago. I've said on here a couple times that Bute is overrated and not a big puncher so I'm really interested to see if Froch can knock him out.
He's durable too, never been stopped in his career and he's gone the distance with Howard Eastman, Roman Karmazin and Bute.
Recent win over Markussen looks impressive, his only previous loss was a 12 round decision to Sven Ottke in Germany.
I like this fight, it gives us a chance to compare Froch's handling of this guy with Bute's performance.
As long as Froch doesn't follow it up with a fight over James Obede Toney I'm happy :P

Re: Froch to face Tatevosyan next
Tatesvoyan's actually pretty solid, if Froch handles him without any problems I'd be reasonably impressed. Bute pretty much shut him out but Bute's a very good prospect, a better one than Froch IMO at least.

Re: Froch to face Tatevosyan next
Unfortunately for Carl, this time of year has proved difficult to obtain a top tier name to fight.
Robin Read showed his head in January, saying he fancied it - Carl said he would have liked to have fought him, stating it would be a nice little fight to tick over until the opportunities arose in the summer onwards.
Kessler, Calzaghe, Stieglitz, Bute & Andrade have all fought in the last month or are about to fight. Lacy is injured - Gogiya is taking an easy payday defence against Cristian from Italy..... not too much to choose from. Vitali Tyspko wasn't interested.
Nobody else left - only Jurgen Brahmer - but he lined up a fight (then dropped out with injury) or William Joppy (now a Light Heavy) were potentially available to fill this Sky sports date which has been booked for months.
With talk of a big undercard guest appearance on the horizon for a world-title eliminator, Froch himself would want a top 10 fight before heading into that - Sergey is no25 or so, but is still a big step up in class from Dodson (No 90+) - but not quite the kind of challenger for Carl to get his juices flowing.
Give him the big occaision and you'll see the best out of him.
I hope he can get up for this fight and knock him out cold, which he is surely capable off.

Re: Froch to face Tatevosyan next
Why is he fighting Sergey Tatevosyan a fighter with a W26 L7 record he lost to Eastman in 2004 he should be fighting fighters like
Librado Andrade WBC no1
Lucian Bute WBC no2
Anthony Mundine WBA no1
Robert Stieglitz IBF no1 and WBO no1
Dennis Inkin WBO no2
he needs to be moving forward not backwards if he fought any of these guys and beat them then i would take him more serious. Tatevosyan is a backward step

Yes he is a bad opponent. And no he's not a decent guide. Stop trying to build him up.

Bute is rated ahead of Froch in all the rankings. MANY think Froch is a shit cunt. Judging by his manner of victory against Tatevosyan it'll be a decent guide to where he stands in the division. Should he lose it'll be a conclusive guide that he's a shit cunt.
Hope this helps.

Any one with anything to loose see Froch as Too Risky. Froch will soon become WBC Mandatory.
Robin Reid turned down fight.
Froch is hoping Manfredo gets injured so he can step in and KO Calzaghe.

It's harder to make fights then just picking names on boxrec.com.
1- Andrade is fighting Kessler.
2- Bute might fight Froch in an elimination bout for the WBC this summer. They just need for this fight to be made. (Wait for the Kessler-Andrade fight and then wait for the elimination bout to be called by the WBC).
3- Mundine is fighting Soliman for the Vacant WBA title.
4- Stieglitz is fighting Berrio for the vacant IBF title.
5- Dennis Inkin is fighting a stay busy fight soon. I dont know what he's up to.

How is it a backwards step? He sure as hell hasn't fought anyone better yet (Magee perhaps a close second) - which is why i have a huge problem taking any claim about his perceived greatness serious.
Admittedly Tatevosyan is not a huge step onto the world scene. But it's far far better than his last opponent - Dodson, who i believe was rated no 127 SMW at boxrec ahead of the fight.

Re: Froch to face Tatevosyan next
Inkin or bute after this fight is surely a step in the right direction for him i think! hes an awesome fighter Froch and i really think a world title shot should be his if he beats his next 2-3 fighters if there good enough.
