Atleast I think so.
Way, way, way, way, way too early my friend.
I guess we will see 8)Quote:

But we are not likely to ever see them fight..And if they did..That wouldnt settle the matter anyway..
Tito was a big star way before cotto.. and the competition around at his time was great..
I like tito for different reasons then i can appreciate cotto for..
And i believe cotto has shown more weakness at this stage of his career then tito did at that point..
If Cotto beats Mayweather or Mosley then maybe?
I wouldn't say way to early. After his next 2 fights (Urkal and especially Judah) we'll see where he stands. If he wins both of these fights in convincing fashion, I beleive he has a strong possibility of beating PBF. Unfortunately, it's a moot point however as PBF wants to retire after the DLH fight. Sad really...IF PBF retires after the DLH fight and Cotto wins his next 2, there will be alot of questions marks hanging over PBF's greatness (as if there isn't enough of "????" over PBF's so called legendary status as is)Quote:

Lol.. If he is to beat both urkal and judah..Which is highly likely.. Those two fights do not stand with the fights that trinidad has had..Quote:

Tito has had all the mega fights he could have had... Whittaker, de la hoya , and undefeated david reid and undefeated fernando vargas won titles in three weight classes.. And the names above stand up there with mayweather and miguel has not yet faced mayweather yet..
i can't say that just yet.
tito gave oscar his first loss.( no matter what you think Tito got the win that night and says alot) he also beat vargas, mayorga, oba carr and joppy.
the best fighter cotto has fought off the top of my head is chop chop.
Not now.
Tito fought some of the best fighters of his time. Cotto is well on his way, but hes not there just yet.....
I will say I think Cotto can very well catapult himself into the best Puerto Rican fighter of all time.....
tito was down quite alot in his early career he showed quite few weaknesses just as much as cotto but to answer duke its too early too say but he very well could beQuote:

You mentioned Joppy, which some people forget to mention from Tito's resume. While I enjoyed Tito's KO of Vargas the most, I thought his coming up to 160 and KO'ing Joppy in his first fight at MW was an astounding feat. Some may dismiss Joppy, but he was a middleweight champ. I had seen Joppy in previous fights and had been pretty impressed.Quote:

Miguel Cotto doesn't have the size of Trinidad but Cotto will be able fight up to 154.....maybe 160
i wasn't trying to get into a debate on who won the fight. the point was he's face top opposition and cotto hasn'tQuote:

i think what the topic starter might mean is that cotto appear to have better boxing skills then tito. cotto looks to be alittle more well rounded in the ring. his defense is better footwork is better. tito was always alittle wobbly early in fights.
You know, there's a reason the fight is scored by rounds ;) I had it a draw because Oscar gave away the last 3 rounds and in those rounds, Tito clearly won even though he didn't land many punches.Quote:

Totally agree bro! As for the thread...hmmmm.well in terms of accomplishments,it's far far too early to say,Tito is a legend,Cotto in one in the making but still has a long time to go. I think in terms of skill,Cotto has more variety than Tito as he can also fight going backwards very well BUT Tito totally mastered the basics:the jab was shotgun like, the right hands and the left hook and in a fight,I think most of us would favour Tito by KO. So I don't think Cotto is better than Tito in any aspect just yet,it would be better to say he "Could" grow to be better than Tito but that is a big ask~!Quote:

Cotto cant carry Tito's jockstrap, and if everyone thinks PBF is retiring after his next fight must believe every fighter when they say that. PBF vs. Cotto next year. Fighters dont retire they just say they are.
yea to early Tito was top fighter Cotto has long way to go to be as good but whos to say he cant do it ?
This is fkking blaspheme. To say Cotto is better than Trinidad, an ATG is rediculous. This is like saying Alexei Dimitrenko is better than Larry Holmes. I'm gonna post 20 times today just so I can SC someone.
Completely disagree bro.. You should know better then to go by numbers..Quote:

You know punch stat numbers cant be relied on..
The same arguemnt applies for alot of what toney has done.. Toney has won round on round on round throwing not a great deal of punches.. And the rounds which he looses is when he is sat on the ropes pciking the odd shot.. N his opponent can throw.. But doesnt mean he won the most rounds..
For the record i had tito winning 4,5 then 9 through 12..
And there was one round which i felt he won also.. Either 2 or 7.. I remember its one of the two but cant seem to remember why..
This was because oscar was moving jabbing a little.. Tito stayed consistant to throw the punches while oscar moved away.. and oscar was landing some nice shots ..Hed stop throw two or three strait shots..
Move again..But not enough punching and too much moving to score quite a few of the rounds for oscar imo..
Judges always have a thing about not scoring very well for fighters who stick and move..
I Remember i saw a terrible one on espn one time.. Horrible.. A twelve round lesson from this nice boxer..
ended up loosing 10 rounds to 2
Its obviously too soon to tell cause Cotto hasn't fought an elite fighter yet but he does do some things better than Tito. I don't think he has the one punch power that Tito had but like you said his footwork probably is a bit better, better balance, and Tito was a bit of a headhunter compared to Cotto, Cotto's a more consistent body puncher.Quote:
