What was it and why>?
Well disappointment would be ODLH vs. SSM I, I thought for sure ODLH would beat SSM with flying colors.
Saddest moment to me would be seeing JCC loose to 'The Surgeon'. I was only 13 when it happened and I couldn't stomach it.... :(
Propably right behind would be seeing Joppy tee off on Duran, now that shit! made me sick I couldn't belive it was really happening... :(
Without a doubt...
Jeff Lacy - Joe Calzaghe.
It should have been a great fight. Because I KNEW that Calzaghe would engage with Lacy on the inside and I knew that would be a mistake. I literally spent DAYS going over that fight. I downloaded a ton of Calzaghe fights. Downloaded Lacy's career (even though I've seen most of it). Went over it a lot.
First round came around. Bam, inside. Calzaghe got the better but I knew Lacy would make him pay. Instead he looked more worried about the positioning of his trunks. Had a bunch of friends over. About round nine, I just died. After, Cotto fight I watched, but I couldn't pay attention. Bout as down in the dumps as I've ever been as a sports fan. Either that or when the Giants lost the World Series in 02. I don't think so though.
That was definitely the biggest disappointment of my boxing watching career. Most of the mega fights I've only seen in hindsight, and the other ones I can usually predict how the fight is going to go even if I don't pick the winner right. But that was my favorite fighter getting absolutely destroyed by my least favorite fighter and that sucked....
Also every Tyson fight I have ever seen live has been fairly depressing because I knew he was once a great fighter.
I think the saddest moments always involve watching a once-great fighter who just can't do it anymore. Nothing's worse than watching an old fighter get beat up by a mediocre opponent who they would have destroyed in their prime.
Watching Pernell get beaten up by Tito :'(
I know that wasnt the same Pernell in his prime but still sad to see.
Tito Bieng beaten masterfully in a big way against Bernard Hopkins..
The closest we ever came to seeing felix lose was oscar.. But yet anyone can see the legitimacy in his win that night..
But when he got dominated by bernard..Coming into the late rounds..If anyone has faith in tito's power its me..But i knew he couldnt stop the excecutioner.. Was even worse when he was stopped with just over a minute to go i believe.. A stoppage loss.. A real bummer
Peace
It would have to be watching Lennox giving Tyson a beating for 8 rounds Tyson should have been retired a few year with millions in the bank but instead he was upto his eyes in debt and fighting just for the money but he took a right beating like a warrior i could have cried watching it i was shouting my head off at home for cotton to stop it :'(
And of course roy's brutal knockout he suffered by way of antonio tarver..
Couldnt have come at a worse time.. From a worse opponent..Or any earlier in the fight..
It was one big punch he never saw coming and was laid out.. And i just sat there ..In silence for a moment with my jaw on the floor trying to take in what had happened..
An honerable mention goes to the ko loss of roy jones to glen Johnson...
Larry merchant put it best...
Glen Johnson seemed Taylor made for the old Roy Jones..But perhaps not for.. An Old Roy Jones..
I had tears in my eyes watching this. I'm one of those fools that cheered for Tyson long after it was decent to do so...was blind but now I see.Quote:

The saddest would have to be Tyson against McBride. I have always loved Tyson and that was of course the final nail in the coffin. It was a sorry decline.
Toney: Peter 2 was also a tough one for me, because Toney was clearly being outworked and Toney's skills were no longer able to compensate for being out of condition and old at the top any longer. Im not so sure Toney will be back. Anyone knows I love Toney.
When i watched Tyson v Williams and Tyson v Mcbride it killed me i could have had a boxing breakdown
At least with the Williams fight you had the faint belief the leg had gone on Tysons part, the McBride fight destroyed it all once and for all. That was an utter shell of Tyson....Quote:

Naz unable to come back after a defeat - can't help feeling we were all a bit shortchanged with his career
Tyson-Lewis...even though everybody knew he was past it(Tyson) most ppl still believed Tyson could do it,all it would take it was a punch, infact on the buildup to it on Sky Box Office nearly everyone tipped Tyson to win by K.O..but unfortunatly we all know what happened.
I do believe if at the time if Tyson took it seriously he could have won but....... :(
With the benefit of hindsight it really is a wonder anyone picked Tyson. Tyson really hadnt been shining for a number of years, we all had this image of that young Tyson and maybe he could do it one more time...Quote:

Tyson Holyfield I
I was 9 years old at my uncles house(one of my 9 uncles) And we were all gathered to watch the Tyson fight, I was only 9 but I loved Mike Tyson, he was and is the sole reason I got into boxing in the first place and I developed a hate for anyone who disliked him(I was 9 at the time but you get the point)
Anyway, I loved watching Mike Tyson growing up, I didn't even know who Muhammad Ali was until I was 11, but I had seen all his comeback fights. And I used to wrap scotch tape around my hands when he would fight and punch when he did as if my spirit was somehow helping him in his fights ... it became like a ritual to me :) Thats how much I loved Tyson at such a young age..
Watching that Holyfield fight I kept screaming at the TV because I noticed Holyfield was ramming his head into Tyson, and I knew it wasn't legal for him to do it. So I kept saying to my dad what Holyfield was doing and he agreed, but I told my uncle and my uncle(a devout Tyson hater until recently) was enjoying every minute.
When Holyfield knocked Tyson down I remember it felt like my heart stopped..
(you know like scenes in anime where its a dramatic moment and the entire room feels dark?) Thats what it felt like to me watching him get beaten by Holyfield that first time. And I hated Evander Holyfield and always called him a cheater who headbutted and I rooted for anyone against Holyfield until he fought James Toney where I had let it go(thats many years, which should let you know how deep I was into hatred for him I had that stemmed from me as 9 years old)
I was at my saddest the night Holyfield beat him the first time. I had always known he'd lost to Buster Douglas, my dad told me about it but I wasn't afraid to watch Mike fight because I knew I'd never seen him lose and felt like I wasn't going to.
Wanna know how bad that fight got me? It made me afraid to watch boxing because I was afraid of a boxer I like getting beat in front of my eyes again(mind you I was 9) and I was scared to watch boxing for a few years, I watched it but I was very nervous when I did.
I only latched onto another fighter again was Lennox Lewis(only because he beat Holyfield whom I hated) and I followed Lennox to when he fought Rahman which I was excited about, however I was stuck playing video games the night of the fight..my dad was upstairs watching it. So then I looked at the schedule on the TV and it said Lennox was fighting Rahman that night, and I felt saddened because I wanted to see Lennox dominate and win. Anmd my dad came down those stairs going "WOOOOO!" And I said "Lennox Lewis fight?" and my dad said "yeah" And I said "was it an exciting one?" And my dad said "oh yeah. You didn't see it?" And I said "No. So Lennox won in a great fight?" And my dad burst out laughing and said "Son...he got knocked the fuck out!!!!"
At that moment I felt a same kind of hatred for Rahman(I was still young though. 14) so I rooted for Lennox in that rematch and Rahman got knocked out and I was happy ;D
I only started rooted for Rahman when he foguht Holyfield(who I hated more still)
But then I was sad...because then I found out that Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson were fighting... I stayed with my loyalty to Tyson in that one...and it was the same feeling all over again watching Lennox beat him...and then finally stop him :( I was so sad...but I didnt cry this time...he wouldn't have wanted me to, because if I cried then it would mean he did something wrong, he did nothing wrong cause that night he fought his butt off and tried his hardest to win. So nobody can ever sit there and tell me that Tyson had no desire when someone stood up to him, Tyson kept trying his hardest in that Lennox Lewis fight, Lennox was just the better man. Can't fault mike for that.
So... you guessed it, after Lennox beat Tyson all of a sudden I hated Lennox.
And was rooting for Kirk Johnson(who I thought got a raw deal against John Ruiz..who I had rooted for against Holyfield before, isn't it amazing how all these things link into each other ??? ) Anyway, I was rooting for Kirk Johnson against Lennox Lewis but then he got injured so I was rooting for Vitali against Lennox Lewis and so was my mom  I've never seen her so much into a boxing match..hearing my normally silent mother screaming "Get his ass!!! GET HIM!!! GET HIM VITALI!!! KNOCK HIS ASS AROUND THE RING SOME MORE!!!" was a little scary to be honest...
Of course we all know the result of that fight, but I was a Vitali fan soon after, but I wasn't a Wladimer fan.
Anyway, I'm sorry to put my whole life story there...but if you can, find the saddest moments I mentioned ;D
peace

Tyson-Douglas
Couldnt believe that somebody could actually beat Tyson.
Ali's second to last fight vs. Holmes was pretty sad. Watching Ali still have too much pride to go down and taking a beating the entire fight. You could really see him not wanting to let go of his greatness, but he just didn't have it in him anymore. :'(
B enn v McCellam fight, I had afighter on the Bill. Just before he boxed I had a phonecall telling me my brother had died I was heartbroken getting into the ring, my fighter said scrap Ill make it quick which he did 3 rds in the dressing rooms after everybody at the show came in and offered there condolences It cracked me up, cried my eyes out.
I think that for me the saddest moments have been the really bad decisions!
where a fighter gets robbed after so much work. His life and career may be changed forever by one unfair decision in a key fight.
It saddens me not only for the boxer but for boxing itself who's already black image gets further tarnished.
It especially hurts and maddens me when I have money riding on the fight!
I remember the John Ruiz/Andrew Golota fight. Ruiz was knocked down twice in the fight and had a point deduction for hitting during the break. As usual it was a horrible Ruiz clutchfest.
That night there were 4 HW fights I had bet on $500 on each fight.
I won all the other 3 and should have won betting on Golota. I'd have made I think it was about $2000! I still made some money. I remember the crowd went nuts when they announced the Ruiz win decision. I looked stupid as I had been saying hat Golota was winning he fight esp after the 3 points deducted!
Some people even got up and walked out in total disgust even though it was the first of 4 fights and was a PPV!
Yeh i remember that one.. it was called something like night of the heavyweights..Quote:

It is what it is ! Life and boxing are full tragedy and accomplishments , you just have to stay positive and get through it. I always say nothing worth having comes easy in life ! You work hard and stay focused, good things will happen .
Ali's last fight.
The Benn-Mclellan fight.Dont have to say any more really.
ya it was Rahman and kali meehanQuote:

Even sticking his tongue out and taunting the old man . Evander had been in with Tyson and Lewis and stayed upright but it was sad to see a guy like Toney having his way with him , breaking him down and taking him out .
saddest moments quite few
meldrick taylor vs chavez
whitaker vs chavez it was horrible to see whitaker yet robbed again
watson vs eubank 2 watson was schooling eubank then bam out of nowhere felt sorry for watson
benn vs g man
holyfield vs toney horrible to see warrior beaten like that
ali vs holmes im big holmes fan but it was shame ali took beating like that luckily for ali holmes pulled his punches
holmes vs tyson hated that holmes got koed :(
tyson vs williams and mcbride i dont like tyson really but it was so annoying he lost to both of these when he would of koed both in 1 round
Watching Ross Hale get battered by Scrap Iron Ryan (I didnt know Hale was a twat then)
Watching a one armed Dean Francis get beaten by Matthew Barney.
Can I take it you're a Bristol man ? Dean Francis is on the comeback now anyway and Paul Ryan went on to get knocked out himself in the 1st round a couple times.Quote:

Paul got sparked in 1 round by Jon Thaxton and in his comeback fight the same thing happend against Holigan. Then he was blown away in two rounds by Geoff Mcreesh. Ross Hale was also blown away by Geoff Mcreesh the same night Dean Francis' shoulder gave out against Undra White . I remember cuz it was the same night Barrera got his WBO title back off Ritchie Wenton .Quote:

Watson-Eubank II
Danny Williams... the only thing he is consistent at is disappointing you...
Toney - Holyfield? Are you guys nuts?
Toney looked spectacular that night!! Holyfield werent as shot then as he was now..
And what are you talking about an out of shape toney? Damnn bro.. Toney was in great shape back then..If he was in the same shape now as he was then he would have slapped the accent out of sam peter's mouth and certainly would be at least wbc if not wba heavyweight champion...
I mean.. Its evident that toney could play with rahman..If he didnt come into the fight as such a fatass and had either the stamina or was in shape and strong like he was in the holyfield fight he would have easyily decisioned rahman.. And if he hadnt been having trouble with weight he wouldnt have had to fuck with whatever he did fuck with before the ruiz fight..
I think no matter if holyfield was shot it was a great performance from toney and something special that he managed to stop holyfield..
Seeing Tyson lose to Lewis hurt big time! I'm guessing most of us Tyson fans wanted to believe that he had one last bit of magic left, sparks from the old Tyson but alas,it was not meant to be.
Tito losing to B Hop,I like Nard but I REALLY wanted Tito to bust his ass big time. Same with Wright,I thought Tito would blow his arms off!
Arguello losing to Pryor. The second one I could see coming. I'm always sour over the first one though,I will continue to maintain that Proye would not have won that fight in that manner had he not srank that substance. Arguello was beating the SHAT out of him for a few rounds until he drank that substance.
The latest was seeing Morales get KTFO by Pacquioa,I think the second fight hurt more than the third. I think I was upset that whooooooooooooooooole day,I know that sounds sad but seeing someone you thought was practically impervious to pain get KTFO hurt! And in the third fight, that little wink to the corner as in I'm not getting up,its all cool, that was the end of a legend.
One of the many, most have been listed already, was Paul Ingle been stretchered out of the ring with blood clot on brain after getting knocked down by Mbueleo Botile then seeing him after the surgery nearly had me in tears, that guy has a warriors heart. :(
