Who do you like: Miranda vs Green
Allan Green is the bigger man and he boasts an undefeated record. Miranda is still the stronger guy. I have heard people say that Green's is more polished and his skills may be too much for Pantera. Well I'll make no attempt to cover up the fact that I am a Miranda fan but trying to view it objectively I think Miranda may get popped a few times by the talented Green but Pantera has a good chin and eventually he will catch Green and end the fight early. I like Miranda in the 6th or 7th by KO.
What do you guys think?

Re: Who do you like: Miranda vs Green
My pick is Green UD12 but this is a top fight Joe Calzaghe should be taking note From these guys for making good fights
-
Re: Who do you like: Miranda vs Green
I think Miranda will capitalize on Green's lack of defense early.
Miranda KO 3-4 rounds.

Real nice interview. :coolclick:
Miranda should take care of business similar to Willie Gibbs. It just may take 3 rounds instead of one.
As soon as Green gets hit flush, his whole gameplan will go out the window and he will enter survival mode. Miranda will finish him off quickly.

Re: Who do you like: Miranda vs Green
Anyone who has ever seen Green fight knows this will be no laydown for Miranda. I actually like Green to win. I think Green hits harder than Miranda. Everyone thinks his chin is suspect because of a flash knockdown to a 168 pound fighter because he got too cocky and came in with his hands down. This is gonna be entertaining. Green by decision or late round TKO.

Calling McCrary a 168lbs fighter is laughable. He is a welterweight, just as he is fighting in 2 weeks.

I'd cc you if I could. You're right McCrary weighed in at 162, well shy of the SMW limit. What makes you think he's fighting at welter though when he's ranked at MW, and his opponent is ranked at LMW. Why would they drop down to 147?
-
Re: Who do you like: Miranda vs Green
The winner of this fight could be a good fight for Calzaghe both are worthy and Miranda would be a dangerman for Joe with the wild punches
-
Re: Who do you like: Miranda vs Green
Could happen. But it seems the likely path is the winner goes through Pavlik and than chases down Dibella and forces him to put Taylor in the ring.
-
Re: Who do you like: Miranda vs Green
I like Miranda by late round (T)KO. Green will win the early rounds by boxing and staying away from Miranda, but by the middle rounds Miranda will catch him good and Green will faulter from there till Miranda finishes him.
-
Re: Who do you like: Miranda vs Green
Green's chin is a bit suspect. I love his offense and determination factor , he can bang. , both these guys have the power and finishing qualities to dismantle the other. If pressed I would lean towards Miranda win by KO . O0

Look at the schedule on Fightnews. It says they are fighting at welterweight.

Re: Who do you like: Miranda vs Green
I really think this is going to be a outstanding match, I'm actualy more excited for this one then the cotto fight.
I really want Green to win but my gut is telling that as soon as Green does get hit flush a few times his whole game plan will go out the window like someonelse posted then he is just going to go to war with him and thats how he will get beat.

I'm not forgetting Miranda's lack of defense. If you have to fighters with non-existant defense the more aggressive (in this case Miranda) will win.

But Green is a counter puncher, add that to the equation. and what do you bave?
People forget Allan Green used to be an off his back foot fighter, and Teddy Atlas used tro give him hell for fighting going backwards(despite the fact he was still winning) he's only become a more aggressive fighter since the Jaidon Codrington fight.
Allan can fight going backwards, can Miranda?
-
Re: Who do you like: Miranda vs Green
HUGE PROPS to both fighters for making this fight.
Hell, this could be a headliner in it's own right.
Win, lose or draw for either man - they both deserve a lot of credit for making this fight happen, they set an example to the other protected fighters in the sport.

Miranda won't have to go backwards, he will most definately be the aggressor. This is all speculation anyway right, only way to find out is on fight night. Why don't you play the sports book?

Re: Who do you like: Miranda vs Green
Pantera may lack defense at times......but the guy has 24 kayos in his 28 professional fights! With 22 knockouts coming in three rounds or less! How often has defense really been a factor in one of his fights? The fact is aggressive fighters naturally get hit more because in order to attack you are leaving openings that better opponents will target. Even in his one loss, the judges and referee cost Miranda more than his supposed lack of defense.

I have never come across any explanation as to why he headbuted Abraham. I've always felt that (after some time) he realised he would lose to a guy who is, relative to him, a good boxer unless he knocks him out. By headbutting Abraham he was hoping it be ruled accidental and the fight go to the score card at which point (I think as I have only read about the fight) he was leading.

Miranda will be to much for Green IMO...I could be wrong but I truly think Edison will overwhelm him early and once he smells a drop of blood will only pick up the pace.....

Miranda said he did it because Abraham kept holding him and he was trying to retaliate by butting him away.
Not smart, but it was his excuse.

Agreed. Good points. :coolclick:
I hate brawlers. Miranda's a bralwer.
I love tactical thinking boxers...a tactician Miranda isn't.
A tactician is a thinking man's boxer. You can see him working out a gameplan in the ring. Miranda just goes in for the kill at the first bell...he embodies the majority of what I don't like...but gotdam he's grown on me.
He knows just when to hit & how to where to crack...thing is...it's been against fighters & not truely seasoned boxers. He underperformed against Abraham (IWO) ref or not.
Against Eastman he did so-so. The stoppage was a bit...off, IWO, but he did do pretty decent against the biggest test to date.
Anywho...I'll love it if & when he blocks Green out.
-
Re: Who do you like: Miranda vs Green
Green by knock out around the 5th or 6th round
-
Re: Who do you like: Miranda vs Green
Green gets Kayo'd 4 or 5th
-
Re: Who do you like: Miranda vs Green
Wacko,
I believe your welcoming message was directed to me since it was my first post. Thank you.
Pantera,
That was a poor excuse.
As Wacko stated, Miranda underperformed against Abraham, Ref or no. In a lot of occasion a slugger would lose to a boxer if the fight went a distance. In such situation, an unscrupulous trainer would probably tell his fighter to end the fight (eg. by accident) while they're still leading on the score card. This is just my opinion.
On the current topic, if Green is as good as some people have said and can last past 5 rounds I think he would win.

Yes indeed...since you are new to the joint...have the Obligatory Wacko Welcome Wagon :coolclick:
As I stated on another thread...Miranda does have a leaky D and quite often focuses on coming straight out & blowing the man out across from him...here ya go...for the sake of repetition:

Okay Pantera...here's what has me worried...Miranda as a fighter is ultra confident...& that's all well & good...but we have discussed the fact that he has very little to no defense...scratch that...let's just say that it's very leaky.
It was visible against Eastman & Abraham. They both caught him & hurt him. Abraham had Miranda stunned several times.
Since then...Miranda has been more of a hammer & hit 'em man...& that's worked...but Green can box...& Miranda has issues with boxers finding leaky holes.
The thing is...what if he catches him like Eastman & Abraham did?
Does Green really posess the power to stop him? If so...& he does...this would be considered an upset of upsets & a huge boost for Green...correct?
Anywho...it's against my nature to support a brawler...& it's hard to change them for the better...but McGirt changed Gatti...maybe with the right man in Edison's corner he could adjust his game a bit & come out the better.
It's just a thought.
Again...good first or second third post Mistah Gingok. Welcome home. Keep it clean & you'll love this place.

Re: Who do you like: Miranda vs Green
I like Miranda, but Green will land some heavy blows on him and we'll see his chin tested. As mentioned above, Green is a good counter-puncher... But I can't root against someone called Pantera...

a thinking man's fighter? Hell , It takes lots of skill and intelligence to cut off the ring and slow down these safety first runners . Don't kid yourself. , taking chances, putting everything on the line to win, that’s what’s hard ! That’s why I feel the aggressor wins a fairly close round . , The aggressor is the one taking chances , pressing the action, making the fight. Without him its snuff . if a fighter fights on his heels he needs to put on a Mayweather / Whitaker type performance and dominate , cause anything short of, ain't Impressive .

It's just a difference of opinion babe.
I got a whole lot more respect for a man that goes in there with a plan & executes it to precision no matter how hard the other man can hit & no matter how effective the opposition is.
Best for instances I can give you: Wright vs Trinidad, SRL vs Hearns, Hopkins vs Tarver, Jones vs Ruiz, Mayweather vs Corrales...hell...basically any Mayweather fights.
Tactical game plans that just turned into master pieces.

I love all types of styles don't get me wrong , I was just replying to the "thinking mans comment" you made .. Wanted to point out that an effective aggressive fighter is not brainless and has skills. your statement implies that a brawler is a nub... which is inaccurate that's not a matter of opinion . what style you prefer to watch is a matter of opinion and personal taste. ! Chavez , Tszyu, Hatton , Duran. Hagler, they were all smart fighters ! . . . it takes a tremendous amount of skill to be an effective aggressor in a fighter , along with determination factor. I just had the urge to point this out . An aggressor makes the fight, without him its just a posing contest. ! he is the man taking all the risk.. very important to factor into close rounds. yeah Mayweather a good example of a tactical fighter winning rounds impressively, however there are plenty of tactical fighters that are not so masterful and will lose on the cards because of their lack of determination factor and their unwillingness to be first . ! O0 I will agree that too many brawlers fall for the bait.. when they should mirror their opponent and make them come in more . cc #2685 I always enjoy a good debate !

Re: Who do you like: Miranda vs Green
Miranda will show Green up for the hype machine he is.....
Fact Allen Green has never fought anyone that would be remotely considered Mediocre at best, he has fought nobodies ans almost got Sparked out by McCrary, in fact if it wasnt in his hometown it would have been a TKO.....Oh I can smell the home cooking from here.
Miranda will bring him to places mentally and physically that Green dont want to go, Edison will break him to pieces tonite.. it will be easier than most think

Green by UD.He was impressive against Jerz Ravelo...who only has 1 loss and was an olympian.
