Holyfield: I don't use steroids!

Re: Holyfield: I don't use steroids!
maybe he doesnt use steroids, but he sure as hell did ;)
read the latest scoop and ask yourself "Why was he using a fake name to get them?"
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...eld/index.html
this guy sets my theory that hes the most overrated fighter in the history of boxing, in concrete
this chump lost 8 times!!!
including losses to such heavyweight greats as: michael moorer, john ruiz, larry donald chris byrd, and even got tko'd by the heavyweight bruiser, james toney. all of this while he was on steroids :D
that guy flat out CHEATED and it wasnt good enough for him to beat the fellow heavyweight chumps (excluding toney ;) but how the F*** do you get knocked out by him??)
thoughts?

his "prime" was peppered by losses.
bowe twice, and he even lost to michael moorer during his "prime" AND he was on steroids
hes a novelty, not a great. like a less skilled, heavyweight version, arturo gatti (but evander loses more) that CHEATED ;)
so much for his "heart"

thats exactly it right there, bro
HE WAS ON STEROIDS!!!!!
steroids help you bulk up more than just a little bit
steroids put a mean streak in you as well (the kind of mean streak that will enable somebody to stand there and trade shots with you)
i had a roommate that i knew before he was on steroids, and after..................... huge difference ;)
the point is this, we will never know how evander would have been without the steroids
but we do know this............
he lost to 8 fighters while cheating his fans, and the sport.

its cool, bro.
thats what steroids do.
in athletic competition steroids are the absolute pinnacle of cheating, espically in boxing (unless you put brass knuckles under your gloves, or something ridiculous)
true story about my roommate, too.
he got hella big and mean. over the course of 6 months he was in insane shape, and even tried to fight every other roommate in the house 1 by 1
read up on the effects of steroids, youll see what im talking about ;)

Re: Holyfield: I don't use steroids!
What proof is there that Evander Holyfield did steroids?
NONE!
A name from a list of thousand that "sounds" like his name?
One person in every 700 is named "evans" in the usa!
So then from that they make the jump to It MUST be Evander Holyfield using a fake name!!!
The sports Illustrated reports is an interview with two REPORTERS!
NOT law enforcement agents!
They say that they saw these documents and addresses and birthdates etc! BULLSH1t!!
These documents have been seized and would NEVER be turned over to reporters to scan through and make phone calls to suspects etc!
It two reporters trying to make a name for themselves!
Evander Holyfield and EVERY championship level fighter has to do MANATORY drug testing PERIOD!
Holyfield has NEVER had a positive test!
Any one who happens to be a Holyfield hater and starts saying this and that because "he was on steriods" is an IDIOT!
If you don't like the guy or whatever or think he's sh1t or a phoney or what ever fine, i don't really care. But when you start saying things like
"he lost 8 times while he was on steroids" when everyone knows he has been tested probably 50 times you really make yourself look like an idiot!
P.S. I would like to hear your reasoning for most overrated etc. Ifyou can supply some logical form of argument.

Re: Holyfield: I don't use steroids!
He's really going on the attack here which is good but doesn't totally clear your name. I have had my suspicions in the past about him BUT...

He hasn't been the same fighter since he fought Lewis for the first time. It was pretty clear that a 38 year old Holyfield couldn't cut it against the best. He only lost 3 times before the age of 38. He has a record of 4-5-2 past the age of 38. That's like saying the recent losses RJ or B-Hop suffered "peppered their primes"
And in the 3 losses, he lost his first to an in shape Riddick Bowe in an absolute tear up, fight of the year. The next fight he dropped was against Moorer in which Moorer probably got a gift decision. Then after avenging his first loss to Bowe they fought again and Evander was doing well and it was another awesome scrap until hepatitis wore him out.
2 losses to Bowe in 3 great fights, and a controversial decision loss to Moorer which he avenged by KO'ing him and he's overrated? If anything he's underrated in a sense, because possibly the best part of his career is largely ignored, that being him the greatest cruiserweight of all time.

im sooooo disappointed with you on this thread, bro
look at evanders record, and tell me hes as great as youre trying to let on.
ready for a logical arguement??
he lost to michael moorer, larry donald, chris byrd, got tko'd by james toney, lost 2 out of 3 (should have been 3 landslide victories for riddick) against bowe, got his overrated a** spanked by john ruiz.
his claim to fame was beating an ultrafaded mike tyson. had a draw with lennox (who also sucks, imo) and lewis was robbed the first fight. Obviously, your boy evander lost the rematch
hes a hw, less skilled version of arturo gatti, that lost more to lesser competition, and evander was cheating the whole time, to boot (yeah, im saying it again)
i suppose that you feel barry bonds (at least he was the best when he was cheating with steroids ;)) was also innocent?
did u read the article? do you think they were lying when they said evander answered the phone? look at the source, bro.
youre boys always been kind of a bitch, now theres proof ;D ;D ;D

Re: Holyfield: I don't use steroids!
Ya gee! lets just phone Evander Holyfield
hey call Madona.Micheal jackson and President Bush while were at it!
The reporters said they called him from the information
they say the helpfull police let them dig through! COME ON!!!
no where in my post did i say or "let on" that Evander was great.
I wouldn't disagree with the Gatti argument. Esp if Gatti was fighting at cruiserwieght.
HE did stand in and compete with the VERY best the Division had to offer at the time. even if it was Moorer, ruiz etc.
He outworked bigger guys...thats about all...and he could take a really good whack! Tyson whacked him a few really good ones.
He was disciplined. Against Tyson he "GLUED" his right hand to the side of his head and didn't drop it.
Stayed in shape......I dunno.....he was good maybe very good....great??? I dunno...
I think his achievement are looked upon more favorably because he was small...sort of the opposite of Valuev now

we agree on most aspects of your post, except the sources being non-credible cause both you and i know they were ;)
i never said he wasnt "good." i always said he wasnt close to the "all time great" status that so many feel that he was. hence, he is over-rated
yes, he was sometimes VERY exciting and a crowd pleaser, but wasnt gatti kinda the same? how many people consider gatti an all time great? holyfield?
gatti was more exciting, and was a much better champion. evander holyfield was a media darling who could do no wrong, exciting at times, but a horrible champion (look at his record)
but most importantly, EVANDER HOLYFIELD WAS ON STEROIDS!!!

Re: Holyfield: I don't use steroids!
A recent report has been "leaked" that a "Spanish looking" woman named "gurti" has been receiving BOTOX injections in New York!
She was seen eating a Montreal smoked beef sandwich and when questioned she walked away from reporters and swung her Italian leather handbag at them!
SO! why is Arturo Gatti going by the name of GURTI!?
AND why is he dressed as a woman!?
BOTOX! to numb his face to the beatings he has taken while all the while passing himself off as some kind of tough guy!
Italian handbag! "Katti" Gatti is Italian!
And Montreal smoked beef is a favorite sandwich meat in Gatti's former residence MONTREAL!!! coincidence? I think not!!
Gatti openly admits! in his website that he currently lives in New something.. York or Jersey I forget..
A sham! a phony! BOTOX to numb his face while taking false glory!!
I say he should be stripped of his title the way the years of frown wrinkles have been stripped from his face and replaced with a smooth and while somewhat leathery quite natural skin tone!
I called numbers at random from a very official looking phonebook that had pictures of ducks on it asking for anyone named GURTI!
HE REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE MY CALLS!! WHY IS HE HIDING!?

Does being 40 have anything to do with it maybe? And he lost to Moorer because of a morphine overdose from a prior surgery which caused his heart to abnormally grow, there were state commission doctors who proved this and Evander was tested some what 20 times by the states athletic commisions to let him fight again.
Don't you think that if he was on steroids that those 20 some tests would have found something in his system ???
This is medical proof thats on record by the way. Where's the proof you have of him on steroids ???
Steroids may give you a mean streak but do you honestly believe you're gonna pass on that it makes you stand and trade with your foes? Maybe it was just Evander's OWN HEART and determination?
I dont care how many steroids your on it doesn't make you impervious to pain! Evander standing and trading was all Evander because thats what he's always done.
3rd loss to Bowe was because of a hepitidus infection to himself. Again, proved by medical records and is in the book.
Where's the medical evidence or record that Evander took steroids? And I'm not talking about assumtions the website gives you, I'm talking about true fact and medical proof of a failed test. Until you find one your statements are empty to speculation and speculation only.

:coolclick: Overrated? Yeah a little bit. Steroid user? I guess Don King payed off the folks in charge of the post fight drug screens every time in order for this to be true.

they figured this out with an investigation, not with drug tests ;)

its pretty obvious he used steriods in his career (prob not now) when he added all that muscle onto his frame in such a short period of time.....you cant add so much muscle in such a short period of time while doing boxing, shitty diet etc while being natural.

You must be talking about Victor Conte and BALCO. I dont remeber Evanders name comming up in that case. Sugar Shane was somehow connected to BALCO though. The "steroids" that BALCO were selling were "the clear" and "the cream". (And they sold alot of "old" steroids) There was no test for the clear and cream until a track coach sent in a vial of it. And athletes can still easily get away with taking the known steroids. They stop taking them and take some diuretics and before to long they are "clean" and still keep most of the benefits of taking steroids(Harder to do if you get tested randomly, but boxers dont have to worry about that). Steroids have been used by athletes since the late 50s and Im 100% sure that many big time name fighters have used them during their carriers.

Body Mass ahs a lot to do with it. Plus the fact Evander was a Heavyweight its more plausible. If Evander was 147 and then bulked to 160 in a few months then thats something to look at. But Evander putting on that muscle (while under the training of Emanuel Stewart) do you think Stewart would allow such a thing or that ti would go unheard of? If Riddick Bowe can put on and take off 50 pounds between 3 fights then Evander could go up a bit and it wasn't like he instantly weighed lower in his next fight.
It's not impossible.

I'm sorry, but that sounds like a pretty naive statement. Stewart wouldn't allow such a thing? It's not exactly like Evander would have asked Stewart's permission.... or asked Stewart to inject him... now would he. Sometimes the trainer finds out, sometimes he doesn't.

Are you comparing "His Blubberness" to the incredibly cut and sculpted Holyfield? Again, I fail to see your logic. Bowe was never a recruiting poster for steroid use, if you know what I mean. Steroid users do not aim to look like Bowe or Toney, but rather like Holyfield.

And steroids users don't automatically have a sculpted body now do they :)
Alright you wanna go with a genetic muscle bound fighter?
Shane Mosley then, fights at 154 then comes back to 147 and then goes back to what looks like 154 of muscle against Vargas buts back at 147 muscle a few months later for Collazo.
hmm....
And weren't people even saying Shannon Briggs was on steroids for his fight with Sergei ??? Because of his hand size ??? rediculous. Just as ridiculous as Evander's "supposed"
They dont even have proof it was Evander. They said someone under a name got the stuff and they are "guessing" that maybe Evander Holyfield got steroids and used the name.
Thats like someone saying Pascel Photo getting steroids and they say "my..that sounds awfully a lot like Miguel Cotto's name.. HE'S A USER!" its ridiculous. And where's the proof anyway ???

Re: Holyfield: I don't use steroids!
I'm not saying it's 100% fact that Holyfield used steroids. I'm just saying that your arguments for saying he DIDN'T wouldn't stand up in court.
;D

Re: Holyfield: I don't use steroids!
So you're saying it's 100% certain that Holyfield didn't use steroids?

Re: Holyfield: I don't use steroids!
Holyfield may have used steroids or not i really dont care as 90 percent of athletes use them in physical sports, boxing, football, and hell even baseball in recent years. Evander however never went over around 219-220 which is a bit unusual for a roid user mabey he used human growth hormone, evander could have been 235-240 on juice more like ibeabuchi.. but who knows looking at evanders body he is just about at the limit of what one can achieve naturally without roids or not I really cant be sure but... youve had a middle move up (roy jones) to 200 pounds on a small frame... shane mosley a light weight to junior middle..... hmmm. yup giuys are on the juice.. tyson, jones mosley, holy probably the list goes on....

no where in my post did i say or "let on" that Evander was great.
Froze your my Homie and all around these parts but Evanders career has always been our biggest disagreement..... Say what you want but its not proven he was on Roids period!!!!! Again these guys are tested for peformance enhancing drugs...If they tested Mayorga and found a diuretic, you bet your a*** they are looking for roids in fighters too... You dont like Evander thats all good but slandering him without proof is wrong :-\

Re: Holyfield: I don't use steroids!
The fact that fighters are tested proves nothing regarding whether or not they have used performance-enhancing substances. The "he passed his drug test, therefore he's clean" defense holds no weight at all. The reason for this is that many athletes today are being accused of using HGH, and there is NO approved test yet for HGH. So a fighter could use HGH and never fail a drug test. Basically, if you get caught, it's because you were dumb enough to get caught. If you have any brains, you can pass a test.

It certainly carries more weight than accusations made out of pure speculation.... ;)

Not really. Both arguments are based on nothing but speculation. The reports that are coming out allege that Holyfield acquired HGH from a pharmacy. HGH is not tested for. Therefore, the fact that Holyfield has passed his drug tests doesn't mean anything regarding whether or not he used HGH. It doesn't carry any weight.

IMO its certainly more productive than defaming someones character and achievements, especially someone who has a tremendous work ethic and dedication to the sport like Holyfield... Evander has spent his career giving it his all spilling his guts and leaving a part of his life in that ring just to entertain us the man is a legend and a 1st ballot Hall of Famer
