cc back i must get some footage of the fight sounds like a cracker
Re: were people suprised that green vs miranda ............ spoilers
It wasn't as much of a "cracker" as you might think from the knockdowns. It was more of a chessmatch. There was more action from round 8 on, when Green knew than he needed to let his hands go more.It was a whole bunch of Green running, jabbing, and looking to counter with his left hook. I had Green losing every round except round 2 until the knockdown, which was pretty much a flash knockdown.
Re: were people suprised that green vs miranda ............ spoilers
Green was very scared to let his hands go and miranda even started to taunt sweetness badly in the 7th because he wouldnt fight...
Its probably what prompted the knockdown of miranda early in the seventh!
He couldnt maintain any aggression and lost the decision... Miranda was strong in the last round though..
I have great respect for him trying to stop green ..Even with a undisputed solid lead throughout the fight and still was gunning for him in the closing seconds for a stoppage...
Really quite disapointed wth green though.. I wonder where he goes now?!
Peace
Re: were people suprised that green vs miranda ............ spoilers
I was surprised that Miranda had such a good jab but I think it's because Green never committed to throwing the right cross.
It was a chess match style fight with spurts of action....I figured Green would knock Edison down but I thought he seemed weight drained.
I don't know why people say Jermain Taylor should be afraid of such big middleweights as JT is a big guy himself
Re: were people suprised that green vs miranda ............ spoilers
It was no where near the phone booth fight you would expect after all the pre fight hostility. Green wasn't looking to trade shots as I had a feeling he wouldn't. He spent most of the night on his bicycle but wasn't effective enough to take the rounds. Green put Miranda down in the 8th and things really started to heat up from there. Once Green realized he needed a knockout to win and had to be more aggresive he found himself on the canvas. And if this fight had been about 30 seconds longer Miranda would have won by TKO.

JT is the same size as Allan Green.
Miranda is extremely well built - all natural too.
I hear he does no weights at all, just boxing and roadwork.
Re: were people suprised that green vs miranda ............ spoilers
I find "miranda doesn't lift any wieghts" very hard to believe. The guy has muscles on top of muscles.
Re: were people suprised that green vs miranda ............ spoilers
He grew up tough...he got strong through working construction and so on.
People forget how ripped you can get by just doing pushups and situps and so on
Re: were people suprised that green vs miranda ............ spoilers
Well that is true Lyle. He just looked like a "gym rat". I hope you are right though.

People also believe lifting weights makes you less flexible or "musclebound" ......if you do the proper stretching before AND AFTER lifting the addition of muscle does not diminish flexibility.
Edison is well built though, mighty strong
Re: were people suprised that green vs miranda ............ spoilers
The only thing that surprised me was the right of Miranda. It's strange how all his punches can be so wild but he could have such a good right. It was a good outside weapon. It also left him open to counter but Green just didn't let his hands go.
Re: were people suprised that green vs miranda ............ spoilers
I didn't think it was a great fight, but it was one of those that had some tension to it cause they can both punch.
I was surprised it went the distance, I didn't think Green had the defense or the chin to last the distance, but then again I didn't think he would fight so cautiously, just refused to take any risks at all.
Re: were people suprised that green vs miranda ............ spoilers
I was actually disappointed in both of them to be honest. Allan Green proved he had the heart and mouth of an Audley Harrison, backing up his confidnet smack talk with a thouroughly lamentable display in the ring.
I was pleased to see Miranda try and press for every single round, you have to give him credit for trying but honestly he's too lacking in the skill departments to be able to live up to his hype.
Personally I think at 160 Taylor, Pavlick and Abraham all beat Miranda, and at 168lb I'd fancy Calzaghe, Kessler, Andrade, Froch, maybe Mundine and Bute too all to do a number on him.
He's getting knocked out by Pavlick in his next fight.
As for Green, I don't know what went wrong for him. His mind didn't seem on the job, he spent more time looking at the referee and his feet than at Miranda, turned his back to Pantera about 5 times in the fight and generally looked to have no fight in him whatsoever.
How much of that was due to the weight loss and how much due to AudleyHarrisonism I don't know.
But I'm fairly confident that neither will be a major player at 160 or 168lb for long.
Re: were people suprised that green vs miranda ............ spoilers
i don't know much about either guy. matter fact last night was the first time i saw either of them. they kept saying green was the better boxer but Miranda the shorter guy seem to be out jabing him

We usually agree, but not this time man. Miranda will rip Pavlik's head off and shat down his neck! I think he would stop Jermain Taylor late. Last night's fight was not the war I hoped it would be, but it was pretty good. Miranda pressed the action and Green just played it safe, rolling his head to the right side to avoid the right and keepin his right hand up to block the left. He also clinched a good deal. He did manage to land his left hook and drop Miranda, which I was not surprised by. BUT Miranda got up like a champion and tried to close the show like a champion. Did you see him in the last round when the ref would break them? Miranda was chompin at the bit and literally running after Green trying to KO him, even with the big lead. Miranda is a very hungry fighter and he is gonna be a world champion.

He's definitely got the heart no doubt about that, but I see him as an inferior version of Jeff Lacy. More natural strength maybe but less ability.
When he fights a confident, master boxer he's going to get picked apart. Abraham rocked him a few times, Green dropped him and both were fighting on the back foot. A fighter like Pavlick with the reach and skills to keep him on the end of his jab all night could box his head off.
But I agree 100% that he never gives up and has all the heart and courage in the world. Plus if he can land he can take anybody out from 160lb to 175lb.
But history shows that all virtually all punchers get knocked out when they face a master boxer, and Miranda is not the greatest offensive fighter of all time. He has huge natural strength and a very hard punch, but that won't be enough to beat the world's best.
He could pick up a title for sure but he's never making it amongst the best in any division.
Re: were people suprised that green vs miranda ............ spoilers
I agree 99%. I'm just not sold that Pavlik is a "master boxer" who can take advantages of Miranda's weaknesses like Calzaghe did to Lacy. He's got more skills, yes, but he still shows some flaws of his own, flaws that could get him KO'd by Miranda. I think Joe C or Jermaine Taylor probably take him to school. Pavlik MAY be a guy who can do it, but I'm not going to be sold on him until I see him in with a real fighter.
