*Breaking News* It's OFFICIAL - Miranda vs. Pavlik on May 19th on HBO*

I think judging by last night that Pavlik will clearly OUT BOX Miranda. Also does Edison Miranda really have that HUGE POWER that everyone is claiming? I dont think so. Pavlik has way more boxing skills and Power Period. If the fight happens I got Pavlik by KO in the 4th.

I don't blame the fight going the distance on a lack of power from Miranda. Green spent the whole fight running and holing, and in a 12 round fight, he would have KO'd Green. Green stayed on his feet after getting caught in round 1, but he from that point forward, he seemed scared to taste it again.

There are clearly flaws in Miranda's game, but I'm not sure Kelly Pavlik is the man to take advantage of them. I'm not sold on Pavlik yet. I'm not sure he's any better than Green. That being said, he may have better success with his straight fight against Miranda than Green had trying to ge off with his left. He'll have a reach advantage and he should be able to pop off some 1-2s. He would probably lead a little more.

Miranda would beat Pavlik, he really is that powerful. You saw in the 10th round against Green he was still hitting with huge power.

If Pavlick puts him down, he will stay down.

Like i said before Pavlik will out box the dirty un skilled but powerfull Miranda. Everyone Pavlik fights says thats the hardest they've ever been hit. Zertuche said the white boy got pop with every punch. Bronco Mckart said every single punch he throws hurts. I cant wait for Miranda to go down early if they fight.

When did Pavlik become this master boxer? Oh right,the same time Alan Green did. Make no mistake,Pantera is still learning but he has awesome power and Pavlik is NOT,I repeat NOT a great boxer.e's a great puncher,throws lots of leather but is as wiiiiiide open as Pantera. It would make for a great fight but Pantera has fought by far and away the better fighters and has still been winning,I'd favour Edison.

Personally...I'd pick Mirnada over Pavlik...based on their last 2 matches.

Miranda has just shown out a bit more.

Miranda gets so frustrated he reminds me almost of a middleweight Andrew Golota.

If Pavlik has a tight enough defense or can take a punch he'll at least frustrate Miranda....Green showed Edison has balance issues as most power punchers do, but he was a little hurt by that shot too.


It'll be a good fight if it happens, I just hope Pavlik doesn't fight as cautiously as Green did.....Green should go to 168, he was too weight drained to fight at 160

Miranda is a work in progress we all know this but as far as pavlik being this destruction machine and master boxer..I have yet to see it...Does the kid have power yes but IMO he doesn't hit as hard as Miranda on a bad day...

Miranda needs to be fine tuned to continue to be more sucessful on the next level but I will say this much for certain....

There is not a 160-168 pound fighter that can stand up and deal with an all out assult of Edison Miranda for more than 3 rounds...

I do not mean get in there and box him I mean an all out face to face fight with him doing what he does best ATTACK!!! At the pace he does it in once in the mode...

The knockdown by Green was not a hint of a questionable jaw either...

Put this guy with Steward or Roach for 6 months and you have a pound for pound machine

I completely agree. Green has more boxing skills than Pavlik does and Pavlik has a tendency to want to stand and trade after he gets hit. That could be a huge mistake against Pantera! Miranda would break Pavlik to pieces by the 6th or 7th round. The back-peddling Green couldn't back up his smack talk and he did everything he could to make it a boring fight. Miranda however wouldn't allow it to happen. To me, Miranda is the most exciting fighter in the sport. He had the fight in the bag by the final round and he was still going for the kill. As a fan, what more can you ask for?

Miranda would take him.How can people say that Miranda doesnt have power?Green tied up and moved the whole fight...and when he did engage miranda caught him a couple of times with some nice shots.Green's legs were gone the end of the 9th and 10 rounds.

Pavlik would out box him and put him out around the mid, Miranda is a bad mofo, But I just see Pavilk making him looking silly. By no means am I counting Miranda out with out a chance, He has a punchers chance. But I will go with Pavlik.

I guess the most likely outcome is that Miranda ends up being too strong for him, its not like either guy's that good defensively, and Pavlik might be getting too big for the weight, with the deal with him telling his corner in the last fight that he couldn't feel his legs, couldn't move well. Miranda seems sturdier although its hard to tell cause Pavlik hasn't been in with a big puncher.

The widely different viewpoints on this post all point to what an entertaining matchup this would be.

Personally I'd pick Pavlick to take him to school, but Miranda is so strong and has so much heart that you could never count him out.

A great fight in the making though and I think Pavlick would make the fight a lot more entertaining than Green did.

To be honest since Codrington, Green has looked shat every time out, well if you discount his beatdown of the world's greatest dad which I'm sure you all do. :P

I thought Green had a live chance though but he seemed to have no fight in him yesterday. Maybe the weight drained him, it's certainly not where he should be fighting.

Miranda weighed 176 on fight night though so how long can he remain at 160 for? 168 is just starting to get interesting right now and I can't see Miranda standing out in that crowd.

That flaw would be Kelly Pavliks best chance. He has that sweet straight right, a better right than Green. Miranda put himself in far worse position throwing that hook than he does throwing the right, and if Pavlik could set him up and time him, he could make him pay. Still, I would have to pick Miranda. Don't think Pavlik could help but get dragging into trading, and I have no reason to think Pavlik has enough chin to stand up to Miranda's power. He might, but know one really knows. On the other hand, Miranda can take a punch, and we know he can win against top opponents.

thats what i think too. right now im takin miranda over pavlik, by KO. pavlik like green gets caught here and there with shots, tending to 'fall asleep' now and then...pavlik said himself sometimes he needs to get hit as a 'wake up call'. if miranda catches him clean, there will be no waking up.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Pavlik is too slow to keep Miranda off him and he's never had to deal with incoming like the type he would receive from Miranda.

Because Miranda sets his hand so that you do throw a right hadn over that so he tries to beat you with his own right hand thats why he cocks it right after he jabs.

Miranda stops Pavlik in the mid rounds.. 7 or 8 thats around the time Pavlik starts to slow down a bit and starts slapping his punches and they get wider and loopier....

And no, I'm not THAT impressed with Miranda, but I was impressed even less with Pavlik.
Pavlik would need to outbox Miranda, but the only problem is that Pavlik isn't that good of a boxer.

And as crappy as Taylor looked vs. Ouma, I still think he would beat Miranda handily.

I think Pvlik is gonna get the better of Miranda, I predict a brutal fight and Pavlik is gonna be teeing off on Mirandas head all night. Pavlik has lots of punches, not just a good right. I like both of these guys but I think Pavlik brings more to the table, and he has power just like Miranda.

4 fights in less than 8 months. That is unheard of at his level.

Plus, his last 5 opponents (including Pavlik) have a record of 134-4 with a 111 KOs (82% KO ratio, 97% win ratio).
Now that's what a true champion should be doing!

As far as speed, Pavlik does have the edge early on but Pavliks known to start slapping his punches by the 4th round IMO it has to do with the amount of punches he throws early on. To me Pavlik needs to controll his pace and manage his punch output he doesn't wanna gas out early on.

It puts punches together and does this well but as I said in the other statement I noticed he slaps his punches there for not putting all his power behind them. It seems like he catches himself doing this and fixes it the next round or something but he can't afford to do that here against Miranda.

Yeah! they both got power the only thing is I slightly favor MIrandas power and I'll tell you why. Mirandas power has been teste against Champions and highly regarded contenders. Pavliks power has been tested against McKart & Zuniga who IMO are Pavliks best opposition which doesn't really say much..

Good points...but Taylor has shown to be very VERY hittable when put in with someone that he can't imtimidate & get the "bigger guy" point out there front & center.

I'd pick Miranda to stop him or batter him senseless.

Miranda is limited...but he's not completely void of talent.

Honestly...I wouldn't mind seeing Miranda as the New Middy Champ of the World & that's saying something because I really didn't like Miranda & I used to be really big up on Taylor. Taylor just hasn't done nearly enough nor has he been convincing since his showings against Wright & Hopkins...all of which weren't convincing worth a fwock.

Taylor would have to fight smart & I mean all 12 rounds to handle Miranda...again...convincingly.

Taylor needs to learn how to relax in the ring if he does, his speed and power will be better and he'll be more accurate because he's a little more loose.


Pavlik is an unknown at this point....I will say if Kelly frustrates him it'll really turn ugly.

Miranda is all about going toe to toe and if anyone offers him something else he goes crazy....I saw it with Allan Green too, Miranda was just irate because Green wouldn't stand and fight him.


I would hate to ever see Miranda fight Winky Wright.

When I say he brings more to the table I meant an all around better boxer. Hes got a way better jab, and can throw the left hook, which Allen Green hit him with alot. Kelly works off the jab and that will frustrate Miranda.They have about the same reach and equally bad defense so I think it will be brutal.
