Olympian904 lets discuss the Urkal headbutts
[stream=380,320]http://sergiomora.net/php-nuke/vids/headbutts.wmv[/stream]
To anyone replying to this thread.
DO NOT USE THE QUOTE feature when replying to my post.
Why?
Because there will be an echo, and we don't need multiple videos files streaming.
That is all I ask. Thank you. I also forgot to remove the sound from this and it is in
slow motion, so turning the sound off or muting it might be a good idea.
Now..
I do not want to insult you Olympian904. I rather discuss this in a friendly manner.
[b]
But I will quote you and this is what you said:
Quote:
"I really want to see where you are claiming that Urkal is lunging forward with his head and his hands down."
"I only saw one intentional headbutt...and it was after Cotto punched him in the back."
There is enough footage in here to debate as to wether or not he was intentionaly head butting.
I suggest you watch the entire clip. You have to take a few things into consideration now because obviously you missed it at regular speed so I slowed it down from 100% to 35%
Now you might say to yourself by watching some of the footage that the head is not hitting that hard but now you have to remember that we are watching it in slow motion. In fast motion Urkal is using his head to hit Cotto in the chest, the arm, shoulders, neck, and head.
I will say this about Urkal. IMO 80 % of this is intentional.
Why?
Urkal is smart. He has a tremendous ring awareness and is very calculating.
He has a huge heart, a chin of granite and a body of steel, but he lacks power. His greatest weapon is his head. He has learned to get by and do subtle damage with it. Notice I used the word subtle because that is what he was doing being very subtle with his head butts. The un trained eye does not see it but thank God the ref had Urkals number or else Cotto might have suffered more cuts. I don't know if this ref is a seasoned veteran or maybe he knows Urkal from another bout he might have refereed or what. I don't know if you have ever been in the ring and some one leans their head just a bit and taps your head or scrapes his head accross yours on purpose. They are fouls and they hurt.
IMO, Urkal knew what he was doing the entire time. Cotto hit this guy with everything but the kitchen sink and in the 9th round after a huge uppercut by Cotto, what does Urkal do? He tells the ref there is a fight in the stands and this is in the middle of a beat down Cotto was giving him. Total awareness.
Why do I say his headbutts and charging are intentional?
What did Urkal do after Cotto hit Urkal in the back?
He lunged with his head and head butted Cotto twice.
He taxed Cotto right on the money like he has been using that head as a weapon for ages.
Enjoy the clip.
PS.
If any of you monkyes do not see this as intentional head butting at this speed then maybe boxing is too fast a sport for you and just maybe you should be watching Curling or Cricket.
;D
Now some of you might argue that he was keeping his gloves at that level to avoid the body shots but he was lunging with his head sometimes and he would not throw a punch. So WTF do I call it?

Re: Olympian904 lets discuss the Urkal headbutts
SHIT!
It looks worst the second time around, that was bad.....
Urkal was just going in head 1st.....
I do think Cotto should have been warned at least for the punch to the back that wasn't right even if it was out of frustration.....
Ha ha aha ha ha ha ha ha ha haha ha ha ha!!! :lolhaha:
Urkal tried to pull the ol' look a flying pig!
Cotto didn't fall for it.
It would have been funny if Cotto would have said "Where"? and then :boxingmatch:
-
Re: Olympian904 lets discuss the Urkal headbutts
That head was like a battering ram all too often in that fight....Urkal was a disgrace for that behavior. Cotto was out of his game after the cut but was convincing IMO...
-
Re: Olympian904 lets discuss the Urkal headbutts
I didnt understand any of the criticisim people were giving Miguel??? he did a fine job, Urkal was game and wiley, but Cotto just did what he does best break you down... Despite all the butting and for those who say butting is no big deal even if it is slight, I welcome you to go outside pick up a rock and gently bang it on your face and head, then tell me its no big deal, that shit hurts bad and is distracting no matter how gently its done, and despite all that Cotto did a fine job of staying composed regardless of the many times he was butted intentionally or not and him picking Urkal up was nothing in the scheme of things compared to what he should of done to him...

Re: Olympian904 lets discuss the Urkal headbutts
I just got done watching the fight and it was obvious that Urkal was leading with his head. Escpecially the first few rounds he didnt even try to do anything when he got in close to Cotto except ram his head into Miguel. Urkal did it less after Cotto was cut, but still did it. The punch in the back and when Cotto lifted him up was Cotto's frustration coming out.
cc for the vid DannyG
I thought it was funny when that fight in the stands broke out and the commentators acted like nothing else was going on and everybody in the stands were watching the fight in the stands and not in the ring. Made me laugh, at least say a fight has broke out in the stands.
-
Re: Olympian904 lets discuss the Urkal headbutts
I spotted one at 1:40 of the 3rd round and after the cotto punch in the back.Look how Urkal fights...he fights with his gloves under his chin and his body is hunched over.Cotto takes a hard step in with his head down and then leans to throw a body show. Most of the time they are just leaning into each other and fighting for leverage as you can see with the pushing coming in at the end.To say that when their heads collided is b/c Urkal was ramming him is an overstatement.Cotto got frustrated and put his forearm on the back of urkals neck and forced him down.Cotto can argue that he just slipped under urkal...but when he lifted an threw his elbow up made it obvious of what he was trying to do.The punch in the back was plain as day.

I think the reason commentators don't usually say anything about fights breaking out in the stands is because they are not allowed to by the network.
I think they can only comment it but not put too muvh emphasis on a fight. As 1 the network does not wan't to promote fighting/violence in that manner. (And yes I know boxing is a violent sport BUT it's 2 totally different things to be in a ring fighting with a Promotion, agreement, sanctioning bodys, doctors and all that then someone getting his head smashed in by a group of guys)
I think when it's something as major as the Golota fight that broke out in the arena then thats just inevitable and for the most part you can see that HBO tried not to record the actual violence as they would cut to Lampley at the top of the arena.....
If you check Video #4 that I posted on the Vasquez-Marquez thread you can see a fight breaks out between the people I didn't see the commentators even mention it either as I said I think it's the networks call not to say anything.....

Re: Olympian904 lets discuss the Urkal headbutts
Nice one danny! cc!..
The headbutts were getting very bad and far too frequent.. Gota give props to the ref..
Even lampley and lennox did cos he wasnt missing a trick..
Way to win an arguement bro!
Peace
P.s!! Loved it when miguel lifted urkal up on his way back to the corner ;D

There was also times that the only part of Urkals body that was touching Cotto was his head. He not only lead with his head but would then use it to push Cotto's head around. Just watch the fight anytime they were in close and not throwing punches then Urkal was using his head to attempt to push Cotto around. Urkal was blatantly using his head on Cotto.

I showed you the footage crystal clear and in slow motion.
I don't understand your rebutal but you sound like Zab Judah and Bobby Pacquiao. They were both shown the low blows they landed against their opponents and they both said to the commentator, "That was not a low blow".
Everyone else seems to be in agreement that Urkal is lunging his head and using it as a weapon and from reading what you just posted, I would have to say that this was by design. Urkal can not break a grape and he has to use all the tools available to try and get the upper hand. I know if I hit like a biatch, I would use my head in the same manner.
I am still waiting for this Paulie Malignaggi footage where you said he dazed Cotto.
How hard can it be to find one small piece of data you claim you saw? I even told you to tell me what round it was and that I would post it for you.
Waiting.
You called me a Cotto groupie. LMAO. That is not what this is about.
I called you on your post. You spread lies and then you can't back them up.
I hate liars.
In closing. You are either a liar, or you don't know shiet about boxing.
Which is it?
I say both.
THEE END.

Re: Olympian904 lets discuss the Urkal headbutts
Its all leverage.Mayweather does it with his forearm....Roy jones does it with his shoulder. There is always head contact...but was it intentional no.Look at what happened to Malignaggi's eye.Cotto likes to constantly apply pressure.Urkal fights hunched over..its a fact.Cotto takes a hard step in to either punch and even when he isnt punching he is stepping forward to close the distance.I dont see how else I can explain it.
-
Re: Olympian904 lets discuss the Urkal headbutts
It just sounds to me like someone who has never boxed a day in there life trying to call a fight.
-
Re: Olympian904 lets discuss the Urkal headbutts
If you were listening i said that if you posted the cotto vs malignaggi fight, that I'd go through it.

So you are telling me that you do not see him lunging forward with his head?
I am not going to argue with you anymore.
Everyone else seems to be in agreement that he is indeed lunging with his head and that is illegal (This is why the ref kept saying watch the head)
If ten people said they saw you at the neighborhood crack house, then guess what? You were probably there.
I am done phuking you.
You have to be one of thee most stubborn, hard headed people I have ever come accross.
For this I give you the Oktay Urkal award.
And I aint posting the Malignaggi fight for you because it would be like if I showed you the way to San Jose and your silly azz ended up in Ohio and then you will come up with some more rediculous story about how I gave you the wrong directions.
What is even funnier than all this is that not even Paulie Malignaggi claims to have dazed Cotto and yet you seen it happen. LMAO

Again you speak with no knowledge. I did box as a kid. I was a proud member of Irish Spud Murphy's gym in Cali.
Just because you have boxed does not mean you can run around here beating your chest and claim to be the guru of the sport. I aint buying it. You aint ever beat no body. I will be the first to admit that I was a terrible boxer. I watched Rocky I way too many times and I got hit just as much in the ring.
I know one thing. It's not me who is getting his azz kicked in this thread.
I think I hear Teddy Atlas screaming at the top of his lungs. "STOP THIS FIGHT! REF!" Olympian904 is taking a brutal beating.! REF PLEASE STOP THIS FIGHT!
;D
There was an idiot who hung around at maxboxing and he would post pics of himself barefooted and in gay swimming trunks and he though he was the shindo. The photos looked like he broke into a gym early in the morning and because he was punching a bag in bad posture, he would think this gave him the right to say he knew everything about the sport. Are you this same guy?
He would beat his chest just like you and tell others they knew nothing about the sport of boxing because he said he himself was a fighter.
I think the only one who can really get away with that comment is Floyd Mayweather Jr.
;D

Re: Olympian904 lets discuss the Urkal headbutts
1st.This is not a board full of boxing experts...80% of you predicted a Cotto KO!I can tell that your just a spectator."When I watch a fight,I see combinations, strategy,an art. When you watch a fight you see punches and sweat"Floyd Mayweather.
This quote definitely applies to you.
As for Malignaggi he was quoted saying"I had him...I just think that my corner gave me bad advice by not telling me I was still in the fight"
And as for your crackhouse comment....Thousands have claimed to see a UFO...SO WHAT!
-
Re: Olympian904 lets discuss the Urkal headbutts
I'm ranked in the top 3...and I have already secured a spot at the olympic trials...but your right.I know nothing about the sport. This thread is closed.

When you watch a fight you don't see shiet but what the commentators are telling you.
Yes I said Cotto wins by knock out that was only wishfull thinking. No one can make a honest predication about a fight except Ali and NAZ. Some would argue that Naz could not even box but he would predict a knock out just as did Ali. The kid sure could punch.
Ok this is the last post I am making towards you or this thread.
You are starting to look real stupid.
I hope your corner has that towel ready.
I am sure you are going to be like the rest of the ladies on here and insist you get the last word in. I will let you have the last word honey. The thread is all yours.
Have fun arguing with yourself. I am done.

Re: Olympian904 lets discuss the Urkal headbutts
Sorry Danny G. Props to you for giving a good explanation but I still see it differently. Have to agree with Olympian. I think viewing it in slow motion gives the moment an over dramztized account. Same as when you see a punch connect in slow motion. Looks a lot worse than it actually is. But most of the head butts happened in split seconds. It is very difficult to ascertain if they were intentional or not.
One way of proving if Urkal is really a dirty fighter is to study his previous fights. If there were previous instances of Urkal fighting dirty than I will give it a second thought. He fought three world champions and lost. Were there compaints against him then? Can anyone do research and reply?
What was publicized was that he was a tough fighter and he showed his toughness in this fight. He definitely lost to Cotto so we all should leave it at that.

Not a problem. You see what you want to see I guess.
At the moment, I am watching Kostya Tszyu vs Oktay Urkal and yes he is fighting the same way. I would say he is a little dirty hitting Tszyu in the back of the head and trying to hang on to his neck and trying to wear him down. It's the second round and he is giving Tszyu fits. Urkal is not a bad fighter just lacks power. Here is an interesting observation for you. Guess who they just showed sitting in the stands during this fight between Kostya Tszyu vs Oktay Urkal? I will tell you. None other than Zab Judah. This might be a bad omen for Judah. I think Urkal is a great tune up for Cotto. Tszyu is hitting Urkal hard and not phazing him. He reminds me of Pac man when he gets hit he says come on with his gloves to the side, give me more/or you did not hurt me.
Will history repeat itself? Is Urkal the bad luck charm for Zab? I hope so. I hope Cotto knocks Zab out too :) I would laugh if Jay Nady turned out to be the referee for the Cotto/Judah fight. WUA HAA HA HAAA!
Oh and by the way, yes Urkal he is trying to lunge in with his head but Tszyu is keeping his left hand out and Urkal runs smack into it or Tszyu is jabbing in 3's and keeping him at bay but Urkal is still getting thru with his head charge because he is relentless in his charge.
I am now just into round 5 and Urkal landing his chest extremely hard into Tszyu chest. :o PHUK! That is just wrong.
http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/9725/ramxa2.jpg
Here he flew in with his head and caved poor Kostya Tszyu's chest in.
I guess you dont see this either? You probably feel he is trying to get leveage here too?
::**
Any azzhole who thinks this is kool or legal? Phuk em'.
Like the idiots who thinks Floyd Gayweathers poking you in the neck and face with his elbow is cute.
Give me a phuking a break. Phuking MMA generation.

Re: Olympian904 lets discuss the Urkal headbutts
There was a few butts, but the case is overstated. I think that some of it had to do with the way Cotto positioned his head. as in this pic...

I think it had more to do with the style of fighting by both. Urkal leads with his head and Cotto tends to keep his head down. So the two styles together produced a lot of head clashes, and a headbut or two.
