who do you guys think is the better fighter.
Juan is the better boxer. Rafael is the harder hitter. I always preferred Rafael over Juan. But I think Juan beats Rafael on points if they ever fought.
:coolclick: Good points...but I kinda agree to disagree to agree.Quote:

But I prefer Juan instead of Rafael due to the fact that he's a counter puncher.
But...I think that Rafael would catch him if they were to ever fight. You can only run from that power for so long & Rafa seems to hit harder than most featherweights.
I think Rafael will go on to achieve more, he could probably move up and be dominant at featherweight.
BUT if JMM beats Barrera and then goes on to rematch Pacquaio who knows? ???
Normally I would agree with your points. But seeing as there brothers, Juan probably has felt Rafael power during sparring or something. I think he knows what to expect and knows how to deal with it.Quote:

If think they are both equally good.
They both have qualities that the other might not have or just has the ability to do things bettert then the other.....
I just think they are both excellent fighters....

Good point.
thats a sparring session i would love to watch.
???
i say raphael
Good question i would give edge to Juan.
I'm going to go with Juan.Although both are great fighters.
jmm!!!!
jmm has had better oppenents. rafa hasn't been in with a mab or pac. jmm has and he hasnt lost to either one.
I voted 4 juan, not 100% sure just think he would edge it, just a shame we neva going to find out! would be a good fight, another good fight would be wlad and vitali who would win that? ???
Vitali would win :)Quote:

that fight was fight of the year IMO
i chose juan .
don't know raphael enough to know really
hmm since rafael isn't tested as much as his brother juan manuel marquez. there's no time clinging to gut feels, it's no brainer i'd choose juan manuel. For the simple fact that he had faced some of the very best boxers right now and did very very well.
At one point and time I would have said Rafael without flinching but JMM has shown he is the better of the two and in the long run he will be an all time great
I think Raphael is one of the best boxers in all of the fight game. And one of my favorites. Buuttt at this point, JMM has the bigger victories as he is in a stacked division.
that lot is top notch..
its like hamburgers and chili dogs . they both fantastic !
exactly bro, but god damn i almost cried at RM's last fight man it was so beautiful!Quote:

to me juan cause better opponents
raphel dominate his more
Honestly...I just can't vote between the two of 'em.
Here's why...depending on what style you like...you just can't split 'em apple to apple.
Juan Manuel Marquez. JMM is supreme as a counter puncher. He's a smooth tapestry weaver through & through that has just begun to stand his ground for the fan's sake...which I truely believe is a gotdam mistake. Let his brother do that shit. Juan has shown his metal by defeating the HOF'er Marco Antonio Barrera, getting robbed against Chris John in Indo, drawing after 3 drops with Pacquiao, & outboxing the majority of all comers...quite impressively. The man's underratted, IWO, which brings me to:
Rafael Marqeuz. Heavy handed, explosive, skilled, & in the end...something of a fan favorite. Not exactly my cup of tea, as I favor the smoothness of the other bruvah from the same muvah, but I have always dug on the gent period.
Both are great in their own rights...so it's hard to pick one who is superior. If you could mix & mash 'em up...then you'd have the perfect boxer.
8)Juan is the best by far wake up over there! ;D Thought Id start off with a bang guys!
8) So how the heack are ya Saddo?
8) Get ready to see Ricky Hatton get beat down on the 23d ;D
8) Good luck to Hatton though but he will not win that night! ! ! 8)

Hope this doesn't sound smart assed...but you gotta be shittin me...on the defense deal.Quote:

Not me. Maybe it's that he takes more risks...but he get's cracked a hell of a lot more than Marquez.
Not lately...but overall.
In the end...I really think that Juan's new desire to impress his fans is gonna be his downfall.
I think Rafael is more superior. Has consistently fought & dominated top rated guys.
I think Juan is a better technician but power like Rafaels can make up for a lot!!!
No offense taken, knew it would draw that type of reaction.
But I really do, Rafa doesn't get hit cleanly half as much as people think he does. Before the Vazquez bout, the only time I saw him in any real trouble was I think the third or second round against Tim Austin. And he's been in with some clean punchers like Too Sharp, Vargas and Mabuza. The first Mabuza go round was exciting at the time, but watching it again, Mabuza never really landed clean.
Honestly, haven't seen to much of Pre-Pacquiao JMM, but even if it was a shaky decision, John landed with regularity. So did Barrera. Of course those are two top notch boxers, especially Barrera but no one has landed with absolute regularity on Rafa.
Maybe JMM has a better defense, but Rafa's is underrated severely.
The reason that I asked so shockingly is due to the fact that I have seen Juan slip a lot of shit that has knocked Rafael out. The fact that Juan has never been stopped also clicks with me, the most.Quote:

See…I was shocked as shit when Rafael got sparked out by Garcia (whom I do not rate at all) but I was even more shocked when I saw him struggle with some of the other fellars that he was pitted against.
Not that Juan hasn’t had troubles. He has…& I have been just as shocked with some of his…trials & tribs…but seeing him dropped & then getting up & mustering a stoppage when he aint really a show stopper like Rafael is what impresses me the most.
That, & again, the fact that Juan has never been stopped…I say that he’s the slicker man with the better defense.
Again…not to sound like I’m thumbing my nose…but you need to see more of his matches.
But I do see what you like about Raf…so I can lean in either direction. The Marquez bros have the goods…no doubt.
Those KO's happened a long time ago though. The only one that has any sort of real relevance is the one against Garcia. And that was his first televised fight I believe, and Garcia was the more experienced guy and a fairly slippery puncher. That was 6 years ago though, Marquez didn't really come into his own until that upset over Too Sharp. And maybe even after that.
Marquez is a counter puncher but he does take some to give some. Not to a great extent but he does. He's never been KO'd but he's been dropped plenty more then Rafa recently. Against better competiton but still...
Different types of defense, Rafa is a lot more cagey and uses his arms more while JMM is more slippery. But I do have to see more JMM. I've heard before that Naz ducked JMM but I haven't seen anything before 2003 against Smoke. The only exciting Gainer fight I've ever seen.
:coolclick: Tip top.Quote:

Right now I love Rafael,at least is more fun to watch than his brother, but JMM has more exp,is more seasoned and the records speak for itself,he gave PAC hell, and won against MAB so what more do you want??? :)
