Good to hear....I just hope they can both make weight not looking like fatties when they enter the ring. Mayorga usually looks in good shape, Vargas is a chubby little guy.
this could be a very good tear up..........................im very happy to see that boxing is now getting back up on its feet with so many big fights getting signed, finnaly the bigger names in the sport are stepping up to the plate and fighting each other
oscar v mayweather
b-hop v winky
barrera vs marquez..................al to come
very good match up. but i dont really know who i want to win so i'll be watching with a nuteral perspective. both guys are very gutsy fighters and i admire their style's but they are also very dislikable characters outside the ring. really looking forward to this fight though if it happens.
I would like Mayorga to come in ready to rip up Vargas....
But who knows what either of these two has left in them....a fun fight for sure! ;D
Vargas is one of my favourite fighters and mayorga is usually very entertaining. No doubt if both come in in great shape and up for it we'll be in for a good scrap but i think this fight should have happened a couple of years ago, it's only because they have no where else to go that we are getting this.
never mind i'm sure it'll be good while it lasts. When Vargas was at his best i think he would have handled Mayorga with considerable ease but he has deteriorated massively so i say it's a genuine 50-50.
Yeah Vargas' resilliance has dropped a lot. Still a better boxer that Mayorga by a mile.
candidate for fight of the year this will be imo like cus d mato said every great fighter has one big fight left in them hopefully they both have
I wish Fernando would retire .
I love the guy but his best days are behind him.
Exactly the fight is not one for prestige, but it promises to be an intriguing scrap...I really hope this actually comes off...Quote:

Vargas needs to retire. Everyone is billing this as a war, except there's one problem, Vargas can't physically handle a war anymore.
Vargas made plenty of money off his big fights, he should call it quits. If he wants to go out with a win, then he should fight some hopeless stiff who can't hurt him.
The battle of the shot fighters. Time to see who has more left in the tank.
Ok ok, maybe I'm being too hard on them. Nither of them have anything to be ashamed of by lousing to the guys these two lose to. I mean come on Trinidad, DLH and Mously...ouch. Vargas does not know the meaning of an easy comback-fight. The same is true for Mayorga.
I would like Vargas to win this one. I alwais liked him and he has had a real tough run these last couple of years. Win and retire kid, you did your best and have nothing left to proove to no one.
But it is going to be a good fight, that is for certain.
:coolclick: That's actually the first thing that went through my mind. Mayorga is a 147lbs fighter...at 154lbs, he struggled...I can only imagine who much more difficult it would be for him at 162lbs. The weight advantage is definetly in Vargas' corner...I'm hoping for a Mayorga win, but the extra weight for Mayorga will be an issue IMO.Quote:

Vargas is gonna carry that weight a lot better then Mayorga is.Quote:

hatton v collaso anyone? although that could be down to ego, hatton wanting to win titles at numerous weights too soon. he should have take some easy fights to grow into the weight properly
Wouldnt it be great if this turned out to be the fight of the year, its gonna be a slugfest, with both men trying to prove that they are more macho. Guarenteed knockout one way or the other.
agree 100% i think mayorga might have the edge in chins but vargas hits harder but if he gets caught while going in he could be in trouble what mosley did to him was devastating.Quote:

I pray this match up comes off. One last chance for Mayorga, to leave the ring a winner.
Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah ha ha ha ha ha!!!
Holy shit!!! I almost crapped my pants when I read the title of this thread.
Vargas-Mayorga shaping up?
So I guess by that I mean they'll be go by either A, B, C, or D.
A: Putting them both on diets.
B: Have some artist sculpt statues of them both.
C: Sending them to speed weight lifting classes.
D: Actually thinking that this fight will be worth a pile of camel shit in a sandstorm.

I was thinking about this fight this afternoon...trying to feel things out and pick a winner...next thing I remember Dr. Phil is lecturing some couple about marriage counseling and I'm giving him the finger.
that was funny Wacko ;)
...I think this could be an entertaining match , I really do, something tells me. 8)
Shut up Mayorga hater! Mayorga is a lot of things, but a fatty ain't one of em. This could be a great matchup between two warriors. Certainly a hell of a better fight than Ray Austin vs Wladimir Klitschko :PQuote:
