wow thanks for the news ross :coolclick:
I think its a good thing for the show, himself and boxing in general
Reid is very charismatic and you cant help but like him when you hear him talk about boxing
He may be even more talkative now its geared more for the entire family than just the boxing fan
I still think he has something to offer and these fights should be easy (should)
His last fight was a foul filled affair where the first knock down came while Reid had his head turned arguing with the ref, the ref called stop and Reid did, Lacy the cheating little bastaard didnt, cowardly
does anyone know what channel this will be on ??
They are Frank warren fighters and his fighters are contracted to ITV, I think
I didnt really watch the contender and cant remember what channel that was on
yea old contender was on itv 2 if i remember right i cant wait for this and robin reid joining action makes it that bit more excitingQuote:

If Reid can't get Brinkley out of there inside the distance then he should definitely retire.
Possibly the biggest bum in all of boxing is Joey Spina.
And Brinkley got KO'd by him! :-X
Plus he was schooled by Anthony Bonsante :-X
we will win every single fight me thinks :P
Reid shouldnt be on the show he is well past his best!
this is stupid, Reid is a former champion who's past his best not a contender. He's twice the fighter anyone else on the programme is, he's already proven at the highest level (once agan I must point out that on my scorecard he beat both Joe Calzaghe AND Sven Ottke) but he's not gonna get that Calzaghe rematch and he's not exactly gonna improve much at 36 years old, so I don't see the point.
He was a great boxer back in the day though, without a doubt the most underrated of the british super middleweights, well, maybe Herol Graham, but you get the point.
Well if Calzaghe is just going to fight Contender fighters, Reid is just beating him to his coveted opponents. ::**
Beat Calzaghe? I wish I could have seen that fight.
Ok Reid isnt exactly an up and coming prospect but apart from small non of them are.
Reid being in this show is only good
it was close but he didnt beat him.Quote:

:coolclick: back at ya. Seems like any Calzaghe post I make I get several several sad clicks. Well that is fine, I like Calzaghe but I don't see his resume through rose colored glasses like half of the other posters.Quote:

I really hope hes not dumb enough to act like Williams and try and train himself, how the hell can you spot imperfections on yourself like bad technique ?
I also hope hes done alot of sparring because he will be as russty as f*ck otherwise
As silly as it seems Reid could finish up winning the thing. Its only a sprint and robins a fast starter.
I thought they were only having the one fight each, there would be quite a weigth difference in some bouts otherwise
Reid is scheduled to fight at 172lbs
Robin Reid is the guy with the eyebrows, right?
Yes, he does have cartoonish eyebrows.
Id love to see him have something left, he is very entertaining
Great link, thanks!
I never seen a Robin fight, seems to be very very good.
Reid is very good. I was a Jeff Lacy fan at the time of their fight and after how he'd acquitted himself I was interested in seeing more of him. He's very good, but his style was tailor-made for Lacy.
Robin was rusty in the fight with Lacy and took a little while to get in his stride, just when he was getting in his stride Lacy landed an extremely blatant and ileagal shot that started his down fall.
I dont think Jeff would have dropped him from a shot that Robin saw coming, he had never been dropped in a fight or sparring and has fought some decent punchers
Thats an interesting link.Quote:

But there were doubts about how much he'd bring into a fight - but if he has a renaissance in The Contender, then it can only make this fight have more of a chance of happening.
Would it be a Warren or Hennessy promotion??
Or would Carl turn down the money to concentrate on an eliminator, then a world title. Before a calzaghe fight himself.
Robin will have to prove that he is still better than the Lacy fight, id like to believe it and it is quite possible that through a mixture of poor preparation ring rust and Lacy just being spot on that things just wouldnt work for him that night.
Id like to see Reid, like you say, have a reinasance, do Brinkley in well in front of a major audience, probably a bigger and wider reaching audience than he had as champ, then he will have more of a bargaining tool in getting any fights.
Robin was down to fight Andrade for an IBF eliminator a couple of years ago but got a straight shot instead.
Bundridge isn't getting beaten... joke of a fight... just cos it's at newcastle arena and they wanted a local lad on the bill... 9 fights, 2 years out... :-XQuote:

This'll be a good show so long as we actually see the fights in their entirety, this had got the contender brand name slapped all over it and I wouldnt be surprised if all we get is a bunch of carefully edited fights full of sound effects and annoying slow mo's dragging out 5 minutes of action and trying to make every fight look like a war. Please someone - say it isnt the case, Id quite like to watch these fights properly.
I hope it will be a good show, the second seasson was kind of boring, right?... I prefer the first seasson
And I hope it will be some way to take a look the entire fight without edition, that will be a good improvement. ;)
should be ill have look for youQuote:

The bouts, all at 8 rounds, will be the basis of a TV show broadcast in the US by ESPN, featuring 6 episodes, beginning on April 10th, 2007. The weights for the matches range from welterweight to light heavyweight.Quote:
