Guinn - Chambers on May 4
http://www.fightnews.com/fightnews_2...VIFYdHJoD.html
Should be a good barometer for Chambers. I think he wins easy though, Guinn seems to be made for him. Not a very active puncher, not the smartest and isn't really hard to hit. I like the choice of opponents it's a step up, seems they're grooming him for a title shot in the not so distant future.

Re: Guinn - Chambers on May 4
I don't think chambers is all that good . fa bit chubby and out of shape at 215. I think Guinn has more experiance and more pop Guinn will knock him out mid way in my opinion O0

Re: Guinn - Chambers on May 4
Whoa! :o
Thats a pretty damn! big step up IMO for Chambers his people must be REALLY confident that he has the goods. Guinn ain't the BEST or even top 15 right now but hes certainly a good challenge to anyone, especially if he comes in fit and focused shit! he might just walk away with a win.....

Re: Guinn - Chambers on May 4
Is Chambers that guy that beat the ex College football star who kinda looked like a hispanic lurch with an eating disorder?

yeah that was him.
It's a good matchup. Actually it's quite ironic in that although Guinn is basically a journeyman fighter and has never fought for a world title, if you beat him you are practically guaranteed a shot at one of the belts.
Lyakhovich, Monte Barret and James Toney all got title shots out of beating him, Tony Thompson is no doubt on his way after his victory now as well.
Interesting fight this for me, I do believe that like Audley Harrison there is potentially one great performance in Guinn. Will it be against Chambers, we'll have to wait and see...........

Yeah i like the look of Chambers. He's composed, crafty, has the look of a seasoned pro and he's kinda hyped at the minute.
He's small though, and flabby. Probabaly couldn't compete with the bigger guys.... Which is a shame (don't get me started).
Should whup Guinn though.

Re: Guinn - Chambers on May 4
Guinns experience against the much better opposition will win him the hight imo. Looking good against Derrik Rossy is no more immpessive than holding your own against James Toney imo.(not that Guinn immpessed me in that fight , but hes got the experience)

Re: Guinn - Chambers on May 4
Know we'll find find out if "Fat" Eddie Chambers can actually hang with a real heavyweight. If Guinn come in motivated, in shape, and focused, Chamber is in for a long night.
I love Chambers relaxed and crafty style. It's hard for me to root against either guy, really. I'm glad that Chambers decided to step up, and we should learn a lot about him and his real potential from this fight.

Re: Guinn - Chambers on May 4
Chambers wins using his exception hand-eye coordination and crisp counter punches. He is the real McCoy. Guinn is too inconsistent to beat a disciplined guy like "Fast Ediie." Think Philadelphia fighter here.

I'm seen him. I agree with you that he is fast and crisp, but he's also very small. Yes, Guinn is inconsistant, but when he shows up with his A game, he's pretty good fighter. I think Chamber has a good chance, because Toney beat Guinn pretty easily and Chambers has a similar skill to Toney. Even if he beats Guinn, he's still to small to compete with the biggest big boys.

I'm leaning towards this outcome myself. Chambers isn't so special that I'd dismiss Guinn's size and experience.

Re: Guinn - Chambers on May 4
Great fight!!!
I think Chambers and Guinn are evenly matched...Guinn is 28-4-1 and Chambers is 28-0-0. Eddie is a slick fighter and has good handspeed and will stay in Guinn's wheelhouse. Guinn is lazy but when he is pressured good things can happen for him.
I see Eddie winning a hard fought UD. Guinn is a tough guy but I always wonder when he fights if his heart is truly in the sport, he has all the skills but none of the intangibles! No heart, no killer instinct!
Either way it is a good fight and I am glad it's made
-
Re: Guinn - Chambers on May 4
Anybody else think Guinn could have cruised to a UD had he stayed away from Toney when he was laying on the ropes. He has everything physically to be a dominant HW. But it's those intangibles someone else was referring to. I'd like to pick him against Chambers, but he's been too inconsistent as of late.

Re: Guinn - Chambers on May 4
Chambers wins easily, I predict a late stoppage. Guinn is gonna tire out at like round 3 or 4 trying to get through Eddies defense.I think Eddie is in better condition than his physique would lead you to believe. Hes not heavy handed but is gonna be landing all night and I think Guinn is just too slow.
-
Re: Guinn - Chambers on May 4
I think chambers wins this, He is very fast and he is very slick. He is another Chris Byrd. I saw the fight with Him facing Rossy in Feb he looked amazingly fast and awesome on the ropes when rossy would use his weight and try to knock his head off he would take it and fire back with the cleaner shots. I really havn't seen guinn fight before but chambers is a good crisp fighter.

I don't think Chambers will stop him, Guinn is a tough guy....he just isn't active enough to win vs any true contenders. Guinn also has good power it's a damn shame all his talents go to waste.
The winner of this fight might look to fight Holyfield or Hasim Rahman or Chris Byrd or someone like that
-
Re: Guinn - Chambers on May 4
I'm surprised this many people are predicting Guinn. No disrespect to Guinn, he's a good fighter in his own right but he isn't very slow, he has power but he doesn't throw half as much as he should and he's been hit. Chambers on the other hand is so relaxed in the pocket, makes his punches worth his money and he's slick. I see Guinn maybe winning 2 or 3 rounds but not much more then that.

Re: Guinn - Chambers on May 4
This has Friday Night Fights written all over it. Should be a nice lil appetizer before the big fight on the 5th.
-
Re: Guinn - Chambers on May 4
Good little fight, definetly. Eddie Chambers reminds me alot of James Toney. Really similar style, very relaxed, loves to mix it up in the pocket... Unfortunately, he seems to have the same obstacles preventing him from beating the best, and to even more of a degree than Toney imo... He's really small, looks flabby at 210 or whatever, and has very little power.. Him fighting Guinn should be a great measure of what he can do though, assuming Guinn shows up determined to win, which he very likely will. . He seemed to at least be taking his career and training seriously based on his last fight.
-
Re: Guinn - Chambers on May 4
Chambers really is just a blown up cruise-weight like Chris Byrd. Muscles dont make good fighters, but he could use a few crunches dont get me wrong.....Look at Shannon Briggs hes cut like a bodybuilder, but hes becomes a turtle half way through. I am just really pulling for a undersized heavy to come in and clean up the heavyweights and teach them how to box.But one huge bomb lands and there goes my dream.....Otherwise Wlad is the only hope he showed some promise his last fight, what we got to see at least. Then one huge bomb lands on him and there goes that....
-
Re: Guinn - Chambers on May 4
That is true....I thought Chambers had good conditioning vs Rossy to be in as bad of asthetic shape as he was in.
I would like to see Chambers-Brock
-
Re: Guinn - Chambers on May 4
Yeah chambers seems to be able to throw enough shots, well abviously he does because he's stopping guys even though he don't hit that hard.
He's not quite Chris Byrd, not quite James Toney but he should shake things up at Heavyweight.
It would be nice if he didn't have to fight the 240+ guys though ::**

Re: Guinn - Chambers on May 4
Dominick Guinn by UD...not going to be a easy fight for him, but I have confidence that he can pull it off with an impressive win.

CC man I was actually hoping you would come back and post. You seen Dominick lately? How's he looking? If Dominick had more of a fire about him he would be a really good heavyweight. But he always seems disinterested. How's he looking at this?

Agree!

Re: Guinn - Chambers on May 4
I think Guinn is going to spark Chambers right out of there. I be real surprised to see Eddie get to the final bell.

Man he looks good in training, we were down there to Houston about 2 weeks ago visiting and him and Holyfield have the same trainer Ronnie Sheilds and he looked really good, he said that they are working on doing a bit more damage in the inside not just against Eddie but anybody, he told me that he really needs to work on when he hurts somebody with a good left or right hook to not let up and to keep swinging. So we should see a good fight comes May 4th I'll be there because we are going to the Oscar vs Dela on the 5th. So expect a more busy Dominick, if he fights like he did when he faught A-Force it is no question that he can pull it off, but if he goes in and fight like he did with Tony T., he is going to have a hell of a night. We'll see come May 4th O0

Yes!

Re: Guinn - Chambers on May 4
Fast Eddie reminds me of Eddie Mustapha Muhammed aka Eddie Gregory at his prime. A very economical combo puncher whose power is generated by superior hand speed. He is Phiily trained as well. Guinn is like Judah, you never know which personality will show up. The fighter or the one who doesn't want to fight anymore. No such problems with Eddie who will stop Guinn around the 8th.

Guinn Vs. Chambers May 4
Its official, Dominick Guinn Vs. Eddie Chambers is going to take place the day before the "big one" in Vegas. The fight is gonna be at the Palms, and shown on ShoBox. saturday night. Undercard is up an coming heavies Arreola and another prospect whose name I forgot...I really thought this would be friday night fight, too bad I dont have showtime...I think Eddie is gonna take this one, and line himself for a title shot in the near future.
-
Re: Guinn Vs. Chambers May 4
hopefully they turn out to be legit prospects

Re: Guinn - Chambers on May 4
Every fight for Guinn now is a crossroads fight, I think that makes him dangerous, add in his experience & this is a big step up for Chambers so credit to him.
I think Eddie's speed could be the biggest factor in this one especially if Guinn doesn't move his hands.
Chambers by the long route

Re: Guinn - Chambers on May 4
Guinn should really get a better promoter, the people he has fought weren't good for him: Thompson, Lyakhovich, James Toney, and so on.......Monte Barrett wasn't even a good fight for him and it's a damn shame too.
Guinn had all the makings of a decent heavyweight but he's too heavy and he lacks the killer instinct
