Is the Prince of Puerto Rico ready to step in and become the king
Felix Trinidad is boxing royalty and has been the king of Puerto Rico boxing since the 90's. Puerto Rico has been looking for his replacement since his absence and Cotto has all the tools. Althought I don't think he will ever be as good as Trinidad I do think he has a lot of potential and can beat everybody in that weight class with the exception of Floyd. Can he take over for Felix?

Here is a picture of the two. Look how much bigger Trinidad looks, he was a huge WW

I'd be surprised if he beats Judah

I think he could beat Judah but I would be very surprised if he were even close to beating Floyd. I believe he could beat Margarito as well as Williams.

I dont think it would be a surprise that he won, I think if he won by early KO then it would be surprising. I think that this fight is 50/50 with each fighter having their own advantage. I feel that if Cotto can get past the early rounds then he will get a late(T)KO. Not many fighters can withstand Cotto body shots for a full fight. Judah is not a fighter that can. I think that this is going to be a pretty good fight, Cotto will be able to withstand a loss more than Judah, but I feel that Cotto will prevail. It will be the highest step up so far for Cotto, and I think we will see his best in this fight.

Can you give me a link to that please, I think that is hilarious because usually Puerto Ricans stick together and Zab is not an A class fighter.

That's just Zab talking shit but Tito has been known to be an asshole before, but I thought Tito could not speak english and Zab could not speak spanish, that shit is confusing but funny. Maybe a translator just pulled some shit.

Zab can speak spanish, Mayorga is one of his best friends ;) And I'm pretty sure Trinidad can speak English if he wanted to but just chooses not to. Like Duran ;)

Re: Is the Prince of Puerto Rico ready to step in and become the king
I don't think Cotto will ever be as legendary as Tito but he certainly has the tools to make his own legend. He does not want to be the new Tito,he wants to be Miguel Cotto and leave his own legacy, which I believe he will. I too believe that he can beat everyone at 147 although Margarito and Mosley would be tough tough fights. I fully expect him to beat Zab.

I think Tito would have put him to sleep if they would have fought against each other at 147. (Even to this day if Tito could make weight)
-
Re: Is the Prince of Puerto Rico ready to step in and become the king
Yep totally agree,I don't see anyone at 147 or 154 that could beat Tito right now especially at 147,he would KTFO everyone there.
-
Re: Is the Prince of Puerto Rico ready to step in and become the king
What about If it was Tito vs Juah in either 147 or 154 what do you guys think it would be the outcome?
Edited:
oops I see you opinion in your post. The problem is that today most of the people know the blueprint to beat Tito I think that is the main reason he retire. But for me HE can put to sleep Williams, Margo, Super chin Baldo only boxers like Cotto among some like that could get away  losing by UD. One of Tito abilities that most don't realize is his stamina is very hard to throw Bombs with both hands for 12 rounds non stoping.

Re: Is the Prince of Puerto Rico ready to step in and become the king
Zab Judah could beat Miguel Cotto but i dont think he will .
Cotto has a certain will and self belief that puts him onanother tier to the likes of Judah whom whilst talented doesnt not posssess the mental aptitude to be an elite fighter.
You can see Judah having his moments and a chance of ko early but honestly i dont see him living with the pressure Cotto brings , Judah has a chance for sure any puncher does against Cotto ( Torres ) but id back the class of Cotto to shine through after a hard nights work
I prefer Cotto to relax sometimes he is a bit sqaure and front footed and gets hitwith straight punches and uppercuts whilst going for the kill .
He's made reference to using the jab more and id aggree with him .
So far so good .
MC is his own man there was only one Tito let the kid develop into a great figther .
Tito had to live with being compared to Benitez and Gomez

I may be missing something but wot is the big deal with Zab Judah he lost to spinks / baldimer / and has a glass jaw i think Cotto wins inside 3 myself.
As for Mayweather id love to see him and Cotto get it on :)

Zab has said that he and Tito are good friends. I don't know if this is true or not but if it is then it might just be a case of a guy rooting for his buddy and nothing personal against Cotto. Although, if Tito was smart(major doubts here) he would not allow that statement to be made public so as not to antagonize all of Cotto's puertorrican fans.

Felix Trinidad set the standard for boxing in Puerto Rico and the Ricans are dying for Cotto to reach that status. Of course he is his own man but he has big shoes to fill so he has to start taking big fights. Tito did a damn good job with his accomplishments with comparisons to Benitez and Gomez

How do you think PBF vs. Cotto would play out, if you can make some type of prediction?

I have to disagree with this.
I pick Cotto to win, but I don't think it's delusional at all to see Zab giving Cotto some major problems.
Cotto has had serious problems with fighters in the past who had a lot less hand speed and movement than Zab Judah (Torres for example). Despite all the mistakes Zab has made in the past, I'd ask anyone to list the fighters at 140 or 147 who have better skills and hand speed than Judah. Mayweather may be the only name on that list.
I think there's a backlash on the part of a lot of fans in regards to Judah. He was overrated coming up as a young fighter, so now fans bash him, to the point where now he is underrated in a sense.
Judah will give Cotto a lot more things to worry about than Margarito would have.

And thats my favorite argument when people say Floyd could lose because of that fight. But then I'll say over a corse of 5 years it must have been impossible for Mayweather to improve then wouldn't it be? But then again didn't Sosa and Ndou and Baldomir try the same thing against Mayweather?
How much success did they have ??? :)

Well I as I said I won't comment on the fight until after it happened lord knows I've spent too much time on that and people won't get it....
I just can't wait 'till after the fight to hear what kind of excuse we will get this time around from the Zab fans....
