He can be in the best shape of his life but it still will not be enough to beat Calzaghe.Even if Calzaghe is not fully focused on the job come fight night with all the welsh fans behind him he will put on a good performance and win easy.
sugar Ray may be in his corner and the stars may be aligned but the truth of the matter is Pete is in over his head !!!
Some fighters never learn , Joe the 35 year old slapper ?
Famous last words of Sheika , Lacy , Mittchell and Manfredo !!
I cant understand why Americans have to talk to so much befiore a figth it seems they have to sell the fight by saying something bad about their opponents why not keep yr mouth shut let your hands do the talking .
I really don't think Manfredo meant that he's always shown alot of class and respect .
As for Joe not fighting any world class fighters ?
What about Mittchell , Sheika , Lacy , Woodall , Ried , i believe all of those fighters were ex world champions not to mention Eubank .
Smashup has reignited the Calzaghe debate i hope it doesn't degenerate into name calling , but then i hoped Keeley Hazell might pay for dinner ........didnt happen either .
Calzaghe before 6
I think untill he fights Kessler he will always be critized. If he doesnt fight him in his next 2 fights i recon that people are gonna say that Kessler is the best SMW out there just because JC has'nt fought him,but infact Kessler hasnt fought the quality fighters that Calzaghe has.
Lol @ The slapper.
Well then Peter is going to get slapped around plenty in this fight :)
I honestly don't see any way at all that Manfredo wins,JC is faster, bigger, stronger and a much better boxer.
Thing is will JC be able to get up for this enough to impress Worldwide? With home advantage he should do and f*ck me he badly needs to.
Who will he impress by smacking Manfredo about a bit ;D
If ever your trainer started tipping the other guy it would probably be wise to sack him.
Fenster You got it in one cc
It is good that he is going over there so confindent. He can talk all he wants about how great of a plan they have and all of that, but it wont matter unless he can follow through with the plans. He barely has a shot right now, if he doesnt follow the plans then he has less of a chance to win. I still think the only way for him to win is by KO, I cant imagine Manfredo winning any type of decision.
Mark my words, Manfredo may not win, but he's gonna put on a show. After this fight, people will think much more highly of Manfredo. Joe C will walk out of that ring cut up, bruised up, or f*kked up.
You mean like how Calzaghe kept all his comments classy before and after beating Jeff Lacy? You act like that makes American fighters so unique- trash talk makes the boxing WORLD go 'round.Quote:

Calzaghe is due a stoppage
I like Manfredo, but Calzaghe is far too good and will either win a lopsided decision or a mid to late stoppage i feel. Sugar Ray is just doing what any trainer does surely? Bigging up there fighter, wouldnt be a good mentor if he didnt think it was possible for him to win would he!
I can honestly see Joe smirking as he beats Manfredo to a pulp hahaha "Told you so you little gimp" sorta style ;D
Think he may even toy with him a little and purposley prolong his agony!
If thats the case Calzaghe needs to contemplate retirement cause he's slipped big time. He can't even use the excuse about "not getting up" for these type of opponents seeing as it's in front of 20,000 people on a massive major bill broadcast live to the States.Quote:

Why would he want to do that?? Unless he resents that Manfredo actually has the balls to step up to the plate and fight him when he can't gather the cajones to make a trip out of his yard and get himself a real fight ::**Quote:

I think Joe will pull it off by the hair on his chinny-chin-chin but he won't stop the kid. Manfredo just may surprise some of you nay-sayersQuote:

Can only assume your referring to Bernard Hopkins, who fought Oscar De La Hoya for 10-15 million after the negotiations with Calzaghe fell through.. As you say, it's just being smart.. There isn't a fighter in the world who would have taken the Calzaghe fight instead, even if they could somehow get paid the same.. And obviously the pay rise he supposedly demanded was still far less than he was going to get to fight Oscar, and he knew it. The real question is, why hasn't Calzaghe tried to go out and do something to get attention and make these big fights happen? Hopkins didn't go anywhere after he beat Oscar did he ??? If Calzaghe had made himself a name since then there's no reason the fight wouldn't have happened. Now he's left with still trying to get a payday against Hopkins who is 42.. If Hopkins vs Calzaghe were to happen now, many ppl would say Joe beat an old man.. Well, Joe let him get old without trying to get the fight. Hopkins has been p4p for 7 years now, and Calzaghe only tried to fight him the one time about 5 yrs ago. Same with Roy Jones, Glen Johnson, or any decent name he's ever been supposedly close to fighting... Wheres the urgency or hunger from this man? I just don't understand it.Quote:

Last time the pride of providence tried to beat SMW champ he got destroyed. I have a hard time seeing Manfredo doing much better than Pazienza did against Jones.
I want Joe to shine but id also like to see Peter Manfredo come out and give a good show .
Im gunna be rooting for Manfredo i like the way he fights im not a Calzaghe fan hope he pulls off the upset
Saying Calzaghe let Hopkins get old without trying to make the fight is ridiculous. It was 2002 when Hopkins accepted, then quashed the fight by doubling his purse demands. See, Hopkins AGREED to fight but then thought better of it (smart guy). How's that Calzaghe's fault!?! HOPKINS BACKED OUT!!! If you know Calzaghe you'll know he's always wanted the fight. He's still chasing it now for gods (imaginary) sake!Quote:

By 2004 Calzaghe planned to move to light-heavyweight to try and secure a BIG fight, which he did against Johnson. Obviously the fight didn't happen cause Calzaghe got injured about a hundred times. And then Johnson rightly funked Calzaghe off for messing him around and bashed-up Roy Jones instead. Calzaghe was left in limbo until the Lacy fight (obviously his fault). And again, only last year Johnson-Calzaghe was set in place only for Clinton Woods to ruin the plans...It's not like he didn't want these fights, is it?
For the most part Calzaghes career is just as disappointing to his supporters as it's bogus to his knockers, but he can't always be at blame for these BIG fights not happening...especially when it's common knowledge the other guy saw sense and backed out. ;)
