Which one of these stands today as being above the others?
Muhammad Ali vs Foreman people feared for Ali's health and to take that punishment then knock out big George amazing
Rumble ;)
If it was a popularity contest it would most defenitely be Ali over Foreman....
As far as boXing goes it has to be Joe over Ali.....
Thats what I voted....
Foremans win over Frazier was a big upset but it didnt defy the odds quite like Ali did when beating Foreman.
Frazier was at his peak when he beat Ali, Ali had only a couple of fights under his belt after his ban.
I pick three.
I voted for Fraizer UD over an undefeated Ali
Actually scrap what I just posted. When Frazier beat Ali he proved he was no substitute champion, Olympic or World ;)
Option 1 it is.
Well done Memphis... :appl:Quote:

If there is a more spectacular performance out there I haven't seen it. The other two were very good performances, legendary performances but the last one was the stuff of absolute Gods. Hands down it's Zaire imo.
A lot of Ali's legend is overblown to an extent but this is one case where it isn't. Get goosebumps thinking about it really and I would sell 30 years of my life to be ringside that night.
I actually voted for Foreman's 2nd round knock out over Joe Frazier. All three wins are great, arguably the 3 greatest wins ever, but Frazier was, and still is seen, as one of the toughest SOBs to ever live. Most people would have never guessed he'd be down 3 times in his life, and Foreman decked him twice that many times in the span of 5 minutes. Imagine Marvin Hagler getting dropped 6 times and stopped in 2 rounds, or Jake LaMotta getting dropped 6 times and stopped in 2 rounds. That's the same with Frazier, and George did that to him. Just simply unbelievable.
Very much agreed, but imo that does more to heighten the Ali - Foreman fight for me. But excellent points and you can't argue with that CC.Quote:

I only just watched this fight again and i still cannot believe how a great fighter like Frazier got smoked ( I couldn't resist it) by big George.
Foreman over Frazier!!!!
Frazier just beat the undefeated Ali by UD and then Foreman walked through Joe like he was NOTHING!!!
Frazier beat Ali in THE REAL fight of the century. There has never been and may never be, as big of a fight as Frazier Ali I.
Good point, but Louis-Schmelling II is the biggest fight ever. I had to go with Big George over Frazier. I mean that is the definition of imposing your will over another man.Quote:

also ali got himself into the best physical condition possible for this bout knowing it would be the ultimate challenge. its his greatest moment in my opinion
Foreman Battered Frazier Then Norton next in line he was going to batter Ali. Noboddy thought Ali had a hope, I can remember going to the fight because Id seen him Ali at the start, and wanted to be there at the end dont beleive the people who tell you they fancied Ali. The funny thing I remember when Ali sparked Him WAs jumping up and Hugging some African fella Id never seen before Ive often wondered what happened to him.
Let's see...
Frazier was the first to KD and beat Ali. Huge.
Then, Foreman completely annihilated Frazier in 2. The man who beat Ali. Even bigger.
Then Ali went to KO George. Massive.
The first two were big on their own merits. But it's because those first two fights were so huge that makes the third one the biggest victory imo.
well said.Quote:

If I could CC you twice I would. Put perfectly.Quote:

they are all great wins this 1 is hard to pick i voted ali v foreman but now im not so sure.....................................
i think this was the biggest upset of the 3
but i think single win is frazier v ali , that is if we didn't know how there careers went there after.
meaning if all boxing finished with after the bouts then its ali v frazier for me :)
( i think ) lol
Me too, he didn't just beat Ali, he shattered the aura that surrounded himQuote:

Frazier over Ali was impressive but Ali had only had two fights since his layoff.
Foreman over Frazier was a total destruction which made the Ali KO over Foreman so much greater.
The first Ali Frazier fight was even money maybe Frazier was the betting favuorite not sure that long ago
The thing was Ali had only fought twice in the 4 years leading up to the Frazier bout. He seemed to struggle with both Quarry & Bonavena. There's no doubt that Frazier was the favorite going in.Quote:

Foremans Distruction of a prime Frazier is probably one of the gruesome distructions in heavweight championship history!
Frazier was practically decapitated that night :-\
As far as upsets go, Ali's win over Foreman has to be the greatest. Ali exploited every aspect of that fight and the importance of it, leading up to it and during it.
Ali really did beat Foreman with his mind that fight. Brilliant.
(Still think Foreman would of crushed him in a rematch though :P )
it is one of the great unanswered questions. what would of happened in ali v foreman II. ive a feeling you could be right. foreman i think would of learned from what happened in the first bout and very possibly could of stopped ali in a rematch. only though if he didnt waste his bombsQuote:

Mind you, if Foreman didn't waste SOOOOO many shots, put a few more upstairs, fight in a ring were the ropes weren't so slack and have a ref that didn't call a fight off at the count of 8....
Im pretty sure at worst, Foreman would of walked away with a pretty unaminous nod ^-^
