Kessler Vs Calzaghe Poll Who Will Win

Right lets have good old debate on who will win and how

I am going with Kessler by decision. Calzaghe struggled with Bika and Evans Ashira. Mikkel will destroy him. I know people will bring up the lacy fight but lacy had a bodybuilder physique and that kind of physique doesnot neccesariliy mean unbelievable power but Kessler can bang and box. Should be a great fight, unless Calzage pretends to injure 'injures' his hand again.

thats bit unfair to bring up Evans Ashira fight considering he was one handed he broke his hand and could only use 1 hand thats unfair imo he didn't fight his normal fight against Bika and fought stupid i voted Calzaghe by close decision if he doesn't break his hands

Calzaghe out lands and boxes kessler to a decision. A close fight, but Kessler has never fought someone with the speed and movement of Calzaghe. As good as Kessler is he would only win by an element of luck.

Kessler would learn a lesson and come back a better fighter...

If Joe beat Kessler i would give him the credit due to him Kessler is'nt green so i personally would'nt say that

Kessler is not able to lose on decision against any from 160-175. Hard statement but I am 100% sure about it.

You're kidding. Lacy brought buckets of power- let's not rewrite history. He also always has had great stamina. Kessler would not do as well as Lacy, he would get whupped even worse. If he's lucky, Kessler loses by UD.

I don't think that's really the case. Noone here, with the exception of Royal, are riding the Kessler bandwagon because of his nationality. Which I hate to say was the case largely with Jeff Lacy. Not to say he wasn't a good fighter. But if he wasn't American he would not have had the hype. People are hyping Kessler now because we know he's class, simple as imo. I don't see how anyone could say a guy with 2 world titles and 40+ fights is green... People didn't even really say that about Lacy, who was much more green than Kessler in the pro ranks, not to mention much less talented. Kessler would be a great win for Calzaghe.

Calzaghe is much too fast for Kessler and Kessler doesn't have as much power as Lacy--and one thing in Lacy's favor, he was awesome at mixing up his punches and finishing, all of which had to have been somewhere in Calzaghe's mind--Kessler might be more talented, but less of a threat than Lacy, thereby giving Calzaghe even more confidence to dismantle him.

More than anything, I was refuting the assertion that Kessler has more power than Lacy and that Lacy only had a bodybuilder's physique.

As much as I want to see Kessler win, and reemphasize he has well past earned the right to fight Calzaghe. At this point Calzaghe still wins by UD. Once JC shows signs of slowing down, then Kessler all the way. As time goes on though Kessler gains the advantages, particularly with Calzaghe's hand problems. This would be a very exciting match, let's see what we can do to make it happen.

Maybe we need to all write Frank Warren. Or start a petition or summat.

From what I have seen, Calzaghe is most definately faster as far as handspeed goes, also he is much more nimble.
I'm not trying to discredit Kessler's handspeed and footwork, which are great. I simply think at this point Joe is faster.
After he fights Manfredo we can have an accurate current representation of speed.

I would say Kessler is the better boxer of the 2 for a start Kessler does'nt slap even though Joe's slaps have had sucess he throws good solid combinations 3 to 5 punches Joe's are just pitter patter stuff then some solid shots if they fight Calzaghe takes a hiding in my opinion i would put money on it

How does that change us seeing if Calzaghe is beginning to slow down or not?

alot of peeps say the lacy fight didnt mean sh!t cause lacy was an overrated bum? maybe that is true but it was still an impressive win all the same, we all know what lacy did to ried!.....calzaghe has definatly got talent but he hasnt really fought no body IMO and i think kessler is to much of a technition for joe he will outclass him over 12 but it will be a great fight for our generation

.......also i think mundine would outclass joe.....kessler and mundine are the 2 best SMW at the moment ;)

I see Slappy outgutting him down the stretch. Kessler has all the tools, but he's never been in with a fighter as complete as Slappy. Slappy's been champ a long time, and dealt with all sorts of styles. The moment won't affect him.

Slappy will nullify the jab, handle the right hands that sneak thru and outwork Kessler, particularly in the last 3-4 rounds.

Kessler is already a legitimate champion who should be respected. Whether he is great or amazingly lucky. His record is not to be slept on.

Calzaghe wins by UD. Don't see the fight happening though, neither will give up hometown advantage.

Kessler has stated over and over and over and over that he is ready to fight in Wales or M.E.N or where ever Calzaghe wants to fight

I voted Calzaghe UD. I don't think he'd be able to knock him out as I'm unsure as to whether Joe's hands allow him to put as much power as he'd like behind his shots. Don't get me wrong, I think Kessler is great and looks to be very strong, he also keeps his cool and doesn't seem to get swept up in the moment or pulled down to the other guys level like Joe, I just don't think he is quite as versatile has Joe. Also Joe has a bit of a macho streak which I think would push him to retaliate in flurries everytime he got caught. I think he'd figure out Kesslers style and adapt to it by the middle rounds. Calzaghe has great stamina too.

Have you actually seen Kessler fight ? I suggest you go and view on of his fights and then come back with a decent opinion !!

Kessler does not relie on his jab. Watch the Andrade-Kessler fight again. When Lucas came to Denmark his game-plan was to out-jab Kessler as his camp thought that the Jab was Kessler's weakest point. Kessler uses his jab sometimes as his main weapon simetimes not. Strange that he is lefthanded and box out of standard position.

Wow that's a bold prediction (Swashy) i feel. But fair. Kessler seems very adaptable in terms of styles but i haven't seen enough of both to really make an informed comment. But Kessler really has a momentum at the moment and Calzaghe seems to be stalling somewhat, so i reckon it would be a good time for them to fight. Lets hope it happens as I'd hate to see either one avoiding the fight for whatever reason.

We all know Mundie is by far a much better boxer now than the guy that fought Kessler.
So in that respect, we cant really look into how Kessler handled Mundine unless we decide to stick a set of blinkers on.

Other than that, i have to say its a real toss up. Calzaghe could outwork Kessler and show the extra class...

Calzaghe would need to make Kessler walk on to him to show him all his lateral skills and "fluster-clusters".

But those loooong, hard and fast left and rights look mighty dangerous. They might just keep Calzaghe out the fight for long enough to win.
