Wladimir the real deal.
I've been watching his last 4 fights, and I think he's got what it takes. a great jab, a budding left hook, and a devastating right cross. Sure his chin still isn't the best, but it can handle enough for him to do his job. I can see him losing by flash kos or by one punch changing the fight, but I still say he is by far the best heavyweight out there, and probably would be a good heavyweight in any era. People look at him, and then they look at Ali who was way faster, but they forget how big and strong Wlad really is. Idon't think Foreman was as strong as Klitschko, nor do I think anyone except Lennox(who was IMO a smaller guy) has shown this size along with athleticism.

Agree with almost everything except that which I can't at all.. Id also say Riddick Bowe would have to have shown more than his athleticism at one inch shorter. But good post, he's certainly the best HW now, but Peter should give him a great fight if they ever rematch. THey've both improved, Id give the edge to Wlad though. Wlad is a great offensive fighter really, if he had not shown problems with his stamina in the past he could be rated as one of the best offensive HW's ever, for what that would be worth..
-
Re: Wladimir the real deal.
Bowe was 3-4 inches shorter than Wladimir.....and I doubt Foreman had the training Wlad has....Foreman was naturally the best heavy7weight ever to put on the gloves but Wlad has really learned a lot and there are a lot of guys as strong or stronger than Foreman due to the newer training and weight lifting.
Wladimir has always had a good left hook, his style with Manny has limited it's use and Manny ain't one to know how to use the left hook except in a defensive/tactical way......Wlad could ko ANYONE with his left hook....remember he rocked the shit out of Sam Peter with the hook. Wlad's right cross is good but if you pay too much attention to that the left hook will be your undoing!!!! I think his uppercut is developing though and will be useful vs smaller fighters

Great post, but whenever I bring up these points I get raked over the coals. :)

Wlads a good boxer with power but i would'nt say he was stronger than Foreman and his chin is still suspect major question mark over that forever i would say

Re: Wladimir the real deal.
Foreman also had something called "heavy hands" which you cant get from any kind of newer techniques or weightlifting. His hands were HUGE a la Joe Louis and many other bombers. I can't believe people are comparing Klitschko to a legend like Foreman. Let's face the facts here, Klitschko looks great because he is surrounded by a bunch of mediocre clowns at best. I mean, that Austin fight was a joke. There is no one to test this guy so we may never know if he is any good. Sure he has tools and does execute some good textbook boxing moves. He is not showing a whole lot more of that than he was when he first was making waves, beating down an old Ray Mercer and then Jameel McCline. And then he got knocked out. Twice. By basically nobody. So he has gotten a little bit better at working offensively from a distance to keep his opponents away from his chin. That will only work as long as he fights opponents who dont have the heart or the chin to take a punch or two from him to get inside and really whack him. As soon as that happens, I would not be surprised if we see Wladimir Klitschko on Dream Street again. Like Foreman, Klitschko also has something that newer, more advanced training and weightlifting technologies cannot help or hinder...a glass jaw. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve any credit or that he is a bum. I'm just saying when you judge a fighter, you look at the people he's fought. Take a look at George Foreman's list of opponents and compare it to Klitschko's before you go and start putting Wladimir up on that high pedestal. He is merely the most talented of ordinary...and he has a great trainer in his corner.

If you read what I said, you wouldn't think that I said Foreman had anything of the kind. What I said was both Foreman and Klitschko have something that cannot be changed by newer techniques or advanced training; Foreman had heavy hands, and Klitschko has a glass jaw.

Bowe is 6 foot 5 and Wlad is 6' 6 am i missing something bro ??

Re: Wladimir the real deal.
I think he's 6ft 4.
So Wlad must be 6ft 8 ::**

Re: Wladimir the real deal.
Sorry ICB, Bowe is 6'5...Wlad is 6'6-6'7...my bad.

You can get heavy hands from weight lifting and not training properly....if you're just talking about not being able to throw quick punches.
If you're talking about power, then no....his power was natural
Dave Wladimir has fought and beat some very good fighters....he has fought better competition than anyone else in the division. He just turned 31 and already has 51 fights and has 43 KO's in his 48 wins!!!! That's impressive no matter who you're fighting.
And don't call Corrie Sanders a nobody...or Lamon Brewster those guys are very tough fighters.
I'm not saying Wladimir is on par with Foreman, there is no question Foreman is one of the best heavyweights in the history of the sport.......Wladimir is still making his mark on the division
-
Re: Wladimir the real deal.
Title: Wladimir the real deal?
Answer:
Wladdy is the best Heavy around right now, he was well on his way to being the Undisputed Champ. until he ran into Corrie, if he can get in there with Shannon & Valuev and Oleg he'll def. cement his legacy as the best Heavy. of this time....

Lets say they are equally strong, but Foreman had no good defence when younger. I would say that Wlad is about as dangerous as Foreman. They are all greats. I think that VITALI is the best HW ever. Foreman's sloppy defence would be his downfall against his enormous reach, and Vitali has never been down. If you can't KO jimmy young then you cant KO VItali.

I'm saying Klitschko is stronger, I didn't compare him in ANY other way. How can you say a guy who is naturally alot bigger than Forman who was 6'3-6'4 220ish compared to a guy 6'6 245ish. The size difference is alot. I never thought Foreman was among the hardest hitters ever... He had a thumping punches, but he never sparked out a legitimate opponent. Most of the time he would get a guy in the corner and pummel them. Klitschko IMO isn't an ATG, but he is very good, and getting closer to my current p4p top 10. Also Bowe was said to be 6'5, but I never saw it, and he was athletic to a degree, but he also wasn't at the same time.
-
Re: Wladimir the real deal.
Klit is a Big fish in a small pond period!!!!!!!!! He would not beat the best fighters of the past 25 years here is a list of guys that would have beat him IMO.
His own Brother Vitali Klitschko
Larry Holmes
Prime Evander Holyfield
Prime Riddick Bowe
Lennox Lewis
Prime and Mediocre Mike Tyson
Old George Foreman
Razor Ruddock
Even Frank Bruno might of waxed that chin
Tommy Morrison
Prime Oliver Mccall
Wlad is in the right place at the right time, and all you that are sleeping on Valuev better wisen up because Wladdy aint steam rolling over the Giant as you all think if Wlad wins he's gonna pay the price in the process
-
Re: Wladimir the real deal.
I don't usually like to watch him fight but he's obviously pretty good.
It wouldn't really shock me if on any given night he got caught and lost to just about any big puncher, just cause I don't think he reacts well when he gets hurt. His chin isn't great but its not as bad as some people make it out to be, its more that he just kind of flounders around when he gets hurt.
But I don't see anybody beating him unless they get to him and hurt him, nobody out there right now is just gonna outbox him over 12 rounds and he does have that power.
-
Re: Wladimir the real deal.
Wlad is the MAN right now in the heavyweight divison. I will admit I am not a big fan of his style..but still he has power and can really KTFO of someone.
I am a big fan of Wlad the person as well as the boxer. Charitable, intelligent, worldly, athletic...he really has everything covered. It will take a tough, fast, pressure fighter to beat the "new" Wlad and they would need a great chin and patience to do it. I don't see anyone in the division right now with all those attributes. That or Wlad comes in very unprepared. I don't we will see him losing for a while.

I agree with most of them, but some of them could have gone either way
Mediocre Tyson- Before Holyfield Tyson could go either way, After Holyfield Tyson gets KO'ed
Prime Tyson- Tyson ko's him, and it's ugly.
old Foreman-Likely Foreman ko'ing him since he had a that knack for connecting, but Klitschko on his best night could easily pull off a UD IMO. Old Foreman was nothing special.
I don't agree with Mccall at all.(I rhyme)
Tommy MOrrison(I can't see him winning after his fight with Lennox)
Lewis-would ko him
Evander-KO him likely, but Klitschko due to size has a slight chance.
Bowe- I think Bowe would win.
Razor Ruddock- At difficulties with Lennox, and might have difficulties with Wladimir, and if Wlad had a chin I would have him winning this, but he doesn't so he loses more often than not.
I think some other candidates are Prime Tua, Prime Ibeabuchi, Larry Holmes
Don't get me wrong there are alot of guys in the past who would have beaten Wladimir, but he is good all the same, and by far the best right now. For those who say Peter has a chance I totally disagree. Peter looks good against guys who don't move, but he looked completely baffled by Wlad, and worn out from moving.

I don't know how you can overlook his skills! You give him no credit whatsoever! He could beat any of the fighters on your list.Wladimir is one of the hardest punchers ever in the heavyweight division and he is certainly one of the most technically skilled as well.I think the only thing you are basing your argument on is you believe he has a glass jaw, which isn't the case.I am sorry but there is only one guy on your list that might be able to outpoint Wladimir and that is Lewis, the rest would HAVE to score a knockout to beat him.

Ali? He was the bigger man against, Bonavena, Frazier, Mac Foster, ken norton, Rudi Lubbers...etc. and still either lost or went 12 rounds against these guys.
Take RUDI LUBBERS, Rudi weighed 196 pounds. And Ali failed to win by ko despite being TALLER AND 20 pounds heavier!!!
Why in the whole world WOuld you even think THAT ALL OF A SUDDEN ALI WOULD BE ABLE TO EASILY KO A GUY WITH SKILLS AND 30 POUNDS
HEAVIER AND TALLER THAN HIM? he lost against a 200 pound Norton and then went 12 rounds against him to win. what about 250 Vitali? jimmy young 204 pounds whent 15 rounds against him. Evangelista went 12 of 12, Wepner went 15, Leon spinks even went 15 rounds. AND SO ON.
Vitali on the other hand KO nearly every oponent and has never been beaten, but retired while ahead because of injuries. Lennox is the only guy who could possibly beat him that well never know, but he was ahead on the cards.
But NO, you say that VITALI WOULD be floored?
AND YOU ALL SAY THAT I AM THE STUPID ONE.

cc Vitali is dangerous and would have been dangerous to the best of the best from the very beginning boxing to now.He can't be stopped well NOONE has stopped him yet.The record says it all. W 35 (34 ko's) | L 2 His two losses were bs. And Wlad ? He has'nt reached his prime so to put it short you ain't seen nothing yet. ;)

cc plinden yeah Lennox took that bs win and ran never to come back, leaving a question mark in the history of boxing. It would have been funny if Hasim or Oliver would have retired just to deny him a rematch like he did Vitali.

AND YOU ALL SAY THAT I AM THE STUPID ONE.
cc plinden yeah Lennox took that bs win and ran never to come back, leaving a question mark in the history of boxing. It would have been funny if Hasim or Oliver would have retired just to deny him a rematch like he did Vitali.
Thanks these guys drive me mad about their fantasies about the past. People always think the past was better. But it wasnt. For crying out loud if DOUG JONES 188 pounds, could last 10 rounds against ALI, why think that VITALI at 250 would be Ko'd? Its like they think that ALI and the other past greats are SUPERHEROES who -despite failing to put away 188pound guys- now would easily KO VITALI and CORRIE SANDERS and WLAD our greatest. ARCHIE Moore was almost 50 weighin 191 (!) when he went 4 rounds against ALIstooped Tko in 4th. You think Corrie SANDERS would need 4 rounds! lol. Corrie would blow them all out.

Corrie Sanders has a very nice set of man-tits. I'll give him that.
Corrie Sanders is the best HW right now apart from Vitali.
Ok, now I know you're joking about this thread. James Toney is in better shape than Corrie Sanders in his prime.

I dont think Toney would steamroller over Wlad. Corrie did. I dont see Toney stunning Vitali in round1.

Re: Wladimir the real deal.
Sanders landed a good punch. ENd of story. It has happened to Lewis, it happened to alot of guys. Henry Cooper for all intense and purposes KO'ed Ali in their fight. Frazier got his ass kicked twice by Foreman, but did way better than Foreman against Ali. I wasn't meaning for this thread to compare to Klitschko to ATG's, I think he could stand in there with them, but its hard to see him win.

Vitali is the best ever.
Ask Lennox what he thinks about Corrie. Let me tell you; he thinks Corrie is one of the best ever.

O0 He's making his mark on a division marked by mediocrity is all I'm saying and lets get one thing straight, as an amateur boxer myself, I respect all fighters, win or lose for having the guts and the belief in themselves to get in the ring, go head to head with another human being and put it all on the line to give the fans a good show, but compared to the likes of Joe Frazier, Ken Norton, Evander Holyfield, Michael Moorer, Tommy Morrison, Jimmy Ellis, and Muhammad Ali, Corrie Sanders and Lamon Brewster are total bums. That's all I'm trying to say. I give Wlad props for making his mark on the division though it is not his fault it is far under par when compared to other eras. But if he is truly good, then like Larry Holmes, who also fought during a time period marked by many bums, he will hold onto the title for like nine years.

This is funny we drive you mad lol nothing to do with fantasy past being better its just statement you come out with Vitali being best ever its stupid Vitali is robotic and there is a load of hws that have been more talented than him and Corrie would blow them all out lol this gets better and better you mean same Corrie sanders that was stopped in 2 rounds against Nate Tubbs and lost to Hasim Rahman ??
Riddick Bowe
Larry Holmes would easily decision both your hero Sanders and robotic Vitali
to be honest your very biased just because Vitali had one good fight against past it and out of shape Lewis who isn't best hw i've seen either you have now got this thing in your head that Vitali is best ever size isn't everything its heart and skills and ton of other things aswell

What does that prove that he is hard puncher so what and also most of kos Vitali has are against no namers or against average opponents who would get killed against talented boxer unfortunately only skilled boxer at moment is Wlad
Plus don't know why you only think Lewis would only have shot against Vitali i've seen more talented fighters than Lewis Ray mercer gave Lewis tougher fight than what Vitali did fact

I can't even acknowledge your post on this anymore...Your talking like a blinded fan....How old are you???
There is nothing worng with being a fan and making a case for your fighter but you also have to use your knowledge of the sport....Past has nothing to do with it
