This is a big "IF" But what IF Spinks was to Beat Taylor
I was wondering what everyone would think if Spinks beat Taylor, I'm pretty sure theres more of a chance of helle freezing over lol then this happening but lets just say it does. Do you think if Mayweather was to win against Oscar would he move up and face Spinks for those titles? I mean if Mayweather did move up and won that would be like 6 or 7 weight class world champion not to many have done that. I know theres allot of "IF's" in this post but I was just curious to what everyone thought.

cant see it happening mate. i think taylor will probably knock him out.
but if spinks does win and then fights someone like winky wright or de la hoya he will lose anyway.

IF Spinks beats Taylor, which while not likely anything is possible. He becomes an important opponent. Definately should open some doors for him. The big fights afterwards will all be uphill battles, but Spinks isn't as bad as most people think. There is definately a chance he could outbox Taylor.

Pussy Spinks should give Karmazin a rematch. Spinks lost the first time but next time Karmazin will make no mistake and KO him so it not has to go to the currupt judges again.

:coolclick: #671
I agree with you there is a really good chance that Spinks can outbox Taylor, the key is Spinks need to work on his stamina, he was able to cuff and outbox Karmazin for 9 rounds until he faded, Taylor NEVER paces himself in fights he tends to waste an overabundance of energy, Cory needs to fight smart Potshot move around like a Matador and just cruise to a UD over Taylor..... I like Cory and think he has a ton of ability and he could easily pull this fight out ;)

I dont know Joe.... Taylor hasnt Ko anyone in a few years, albeit you aint KOing Hopkins or Wright... but a junior middleweight who stands infront of you allnite(Ouma) was more than do able.... Spinks aint gonna be there for him to tee off on, and since Taylor dosent pace himself, the longer the fight go's the window for a Taylor KO shortens

Re: This is a big "IF" But what IF Spinks was to Beat Taylor
If it happens...
Everyone hails Spinks and calls it the biggest upset since Buster Douglas
Spinks has a hometown fight that he wins against Bozo The Clown
Spinks fights Wright or Taylor or Miranda and loses his title without putting up a decent fight

...Middleweight Champion of the World my ass. ::**
Honestly...I am nothing short of disgusted with Jermain Taylor.

Yea no damn fooling Wacks I'm with you......... Tell you what I was huge supporter of Taylor and how he needs time and all this other shite :beat: but now he is defending his universally recognized linear undisputed Middle Weight championship against another Junior middleweight or should I say 2 consecutive blown up Welterweights Total bullshit!!!!!! Like I said I put the Stock in Miranda and have NO doubt he would put a hurtin on Taylor, thats why he is fighting these smaller guys..... Winky had him hurt... Edison will comatise him...

Re: This is a big "IF" But what IF Spinks was to Beat Taylor
How was this fight made anyway?
No way was Ouma a mandatory and theres no way Spinks was?!
So how Taylor still allowed to wear the strap is just beyond me ???

Re: This is a big "IF" But what IF Spinks was to Beat Taylor
I agree with the original poster here. IF Spinks somehow beat Taylor (which I agree has about a 10% chance of happening), I think the winner of Oscar/Floyd, whichever it is, will move up and fight Spinks. Spinks is a natural Welterweight, so he doesn't present a size problem for ODH or PBF -- he'd be the easiest shot either of them would get at a MW title.
Before any of that happened though, I think we'll see a PBF/ODH rematch (which makes more $$ by far than even a MW title fight against Spinks), while Spinks fights a complete tomato can so he can preserve himself for the huge $$ payday against Oscar/Floyd (no way he risks that by fighting Winky or Miranda, etc.).
Again, though, I see little chance of this happening. But then again, I'm with Sheep and don't see it as totally out of the question. Taylor does not seem to be getting any better at boxing.

I agree to some extent, but I think it's all forgiven if and when he fights the winner of Pavlik/Miranda -- which seems to be where this is going, given that those guys are the under card. I'd rather Winky have gotten off his high horse and beaten Taylor (again) in a rematch though.

Re: This is a big "IF" But what IF Spinks was to Beat Taylor
Probably not going to happen.
Spinks is an outside fighter, not an inside fighter. So in other words he'll be fighting in front of Taylor the whole time and won't try to close the gap, Taylor is going to pick him apart rom the outside, the only way Spinks wins is if he develops an inside game, which I don't see happening

Re: This is a big "IF" But what IF Spinks was to Beat Taylor
The chances of a Spinks win are roughly 0.0000000000000000000000000000001% in my estimation, which is a shame as I'd love him to shock the world but it's simply not possible.
Taylor is too big and too strong.
es it's been a while since JT has knocked anyone out but that he has power is still abundantly clear.
Hopkins was just as cagey in the rematch as he was in the first fight so obviously didn't want to take any chances with Taylor. If he had no power Hopkins would have been more aggressive in the second fight.
Winky, one of the best defensive fighters of the past 30 years took most of Taylor's shots on his gloves but still looked more busted up than I've ever seen him.
And Ouma, coming up from 154 lbs was totally nullified by Taylor, his usual 100 punches a round almost halved especially in the early part of the fight as Taylor was just too strong to allow him to risk opening up.
When you factor in Taylor's power with Cory's chin and punch resistance, and then add to that the fact that Cory gasses after 8 rounds even if he's just sparring then I can see no other way for this fight to end other than a KO win for Taylor.

Re: This is a big "IF" But what IF Spinks was to Beat Taylor
With his chin I honestly don't think Spinks has too much of a chance against JT, though I'd love to be proved wrong... I've noticed people arguing that JT doesn't have too much power because of the Ouma fight, but I disagree... I think Ouma has shown at the least to have a decent chin... As for the JT/Winky fight that Bilbo mentioned, I think that most of the damage dealt to both fighters was caused by headbutts in that match... As for if Spinks beats Taylor, I wouldn't be surprised if PBF started clamouring for a fight with him... After he disposes of Oscar that is...
I'd love to see Miranda vs Spinks for the titles though... all 30 seconds of it...

Who's stopped Spinks other then the hard hitting Zab Judah ???
And Karmazin stunned him once and Karmazin is a hard puncher at 154 and only Zab Judah has knocked Spinks down and Judah isnt a soft puncher.
Since when did Cory have a bad chin?

Re: This is a big "IF" But what IF Spinks was to Beat Taylor
i don't think its fair that jermain taylor
would be allowed to fight that poor little retarded boy, cory spinks.
i'm all for equality and such...
but JT should be ashamed for picking on a special needs kid.
what kind of a man is he???!!

Re: This is a big "IF" But what IF Spinks was to Beat Taylor
This is in responce to Majesty... sorry, I don't know how to quote...
I wasn't necessarily saying that Spinks has a bad chin, I could've written that better. It's just that if a welter-weight in Zab Judah, a former Jr. Welter, who is admittedly a hard-hitter at those weights can crack Spinks chin, I would think that JT, a large MW with decent power, should be able to the same. To me, it stands to reason that if Zab Judah at 147 can TKO Spinks, JT at 160 should be able to do the same, and you can't tell me that Zab has more power than JT.

Spinks doesn't have a bad chin, he just doesn't have a good one. And this is at welterweight your talking about. Zab Judah knocked him the fuk out at 147... There is no chance for Cory in this fight.

Spinks should give Karmazin a rematch -- Elephant Man
I agree with this.

Re: This is a big "IF" But what IF Spinks was to Beat Taylor
It will be interesting, but I see Spinks getting stopped. He is very, very fast, but likely too small to compete.
