A national commission couldn't damage boxing beyond the point it is already at. I think it would improve boxing many times over. No more alphabet straps and bogus mandatories (hopefully), fighters who should not be fighting anymore not being allowed to fight. Cleaning up the rampant corruption which has plagued the sport damn near since its inception. Look at the BS that just occurred in Thailand, it cost a man his life. Stacy. I understand this would effect you because yor shows are mostly lower level fighters who might not be able to pay for the medical prerequisites, but is that the only reason you hate this? I mean it is mostly embraced by the boxing community and ultimately looks out for the safety of the fighters. What exactly wrong with that?

I could probably tell you why ;) Not to attack your shows or anything, but you're not coming off in the best light.

The bill would enforce already existing boxing rules. Right now, most commissions are so weak that they basically have no standards.

The bill would keep a watchful eye on boxing commissions while working with them to look out for the best interest of the fight.

The bill would have the power to revoke promoter, manager and boxer licenses.


It's basically just a massive funding project. What's wrong with that?

The only 2 people I've seen come out against a commission are Don King and you Stacy. I know it puts a watchful eye on promoters. Freedom? How many boxers do you hear of that go from making millions, only to say they saw a small fraction of it because of their promoters and then go broke? It's protecting boxers and cracking down on promoters. Unless promoters and managers make up 99% of the boxing community, then I think your number is a bit self serving ;)

and promoting club shows (Over 97% of active boxing today)
We all say we want our sport back and the politiction need
to focus on what they lied about to get elected , Boxing has went
down hill in the last 7 or 8 years because the Hitlers running the

A fighter came into are gym to warm down hed boxed a World rated fighter the night before and did well went the distance. We all congratulated him on a good performance. He sat down and told us he was pleased with his performance, it was a big fight and another big name fighter asked what he earned. I got 7 was the reply the big name said £7000 not bad the kid replied no £700 we all looked at each other shocked. Without anymore to do bigname rang the promoter on his mobile and was told they were pleased with the kid and they paid £7,700 to the manager. After the manager kept his licence and thats not an isolated case. Something has to be done. Something has to be done why does a manager get 25% and the trainer 10% the trainer does all the work, the manager does what hes told by the promoter. The succesfull Fighters manages himself and has a good lawyer

Wouldn't insurance, even Medic-aid, cover all that? Besides, that's all stuff that should be required regardless of the cost.

Right we were born with? Boxing is a sport, sure you can compete but like every sport it cost to pay and safety has to be at a premium. For example, I play(ed) high school football, had to spend close to $500 for the equipment, and I had to get a physical through the team doctor which was another 50 bucks and I had to my helmet certified as safe which was $200 in itself. Lot of money and I wasn't getting paid nor was any of that stuff covered by any sort of insurance. Every sport has it's costs to compete in. Two fighters going out there in Russel Athletic basketball shorts and gloves from Big 5 is fine, so long as they are OK to compete. The fighters owe that to everyone, especially the fans because no one wants to watch a ticking time bomb in the ring. Especially when so many clubfights end in KO's.

In the end it's in the interest of the fighter, financially and safety wise.

Hmm. Using fighters as judges? Certainly cast a bad light, and I have a hard time believing JD has a judges license, something he would have to go through a national commision to get. He did your wife's fight and scored it for her. Now I'm not saying there is anything crooked, but she gets the decision on a card her husband promoted and scored by one of her husband's fighter. Wouldn't hurt if a legit commission was looking over the bouts. Especially since Sarah is world rated.

Not annual just a one time thing. And in Indiana....

Question: How much does a license cost?
Answer: A Physician, trainers, boxer, judge, and timekeeper and seconds license fee is ten ($10.00) dollars; a Promoter license fee is one hundred ($100.00) dollars; Matchmaker and manager license fees are twenty-five ($25.00) dollars; a referee license fee is fifty ($50.00) dollars.

Doesn't sound like such a wallet buster.

I know McCain wants to give benefits and pensions to pro boxers much like they are available to Baseball and Football and even Hockey players because they have unions.

Promoters STEAL....they don't fight, they don't make matches, they don't do much of anything.....they just take from fighters like the fucking middle men they are!!!!!

A serious, noncorrupted organization would be beneficial to EVERYONE who has a stake in boxing.......except the theiving promoters!!!!

And in my eyes the tv stations CAN be just as bad....but then again HBO and Showtime don't ignore injured fighters while they are in the ring like Don King has done in the past....he stood there and hyped up Nigel Benn after he all but killed Gerald McClellan.

Having a legit boxing organization would make it easier to have better and easier defined rules as well as better title shots than Johnson-Chavez which cause serious injury including death.

Will there be drawbacks to such an organization being brought to fruition???? Yes, but those will be minimal in exchange for pensions for fighters and the insurance of their health.....you can disagree because you run some small time stuff but not everyone is cut out to be a PROFESSIONAL BOXER like not everyone is cut out for the MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, or EPL......you understand my point of view now?

My father fought were I could live in freedom when he was in the Marines !

Fair enough Stacy. But it's my right to play NFL football. I just don't qualify. The national commission would make sure every fighter in the ring is qualified to be there.
